Oud for Greatness, Haltane, Muscat?
....Which one should it be from the fragrance family?

I know all three....and all of these fragrances have their fans....

If we were to use the complexity of the fragrances as a yardstick for evaluation, Haltane would certainly take the lead here, especially as the praline is very prominent here and shapes the fragrance in a boozy way. However, that doesn't always make it wearable for me, but only for specific occasions.

Oud for Greatness is of course the performance monster. It's constantly banging away. However, it must be made quite clear that this is at the expense of the fragrance experience. It comes across as very synthetic and remains in a dull oud note in which not much happens.

In my opinion, Muscat combines the characteristics of its two predecessors. Much more complex than the Oud for Greatness, but much more wearable in everyday life than the Haltane. The fragrance has a wonderful dark spiciness that is not at all annoying and completes the fragrance in a slightly sweet way.

Ormande Jayne has created a wonderful alternative here, which is also significantly cheaper to buy than the two top dogs.

This fragrance therefore comes highly recommended!

A fine masterpiece ..
Rarely experienced such a fine masterpiece. A soft, beguiling oriental that has a great flow. So finely blended and so versatile. Again and again, the wearer discovers new fine details. I don't understand the statements that describe the fragrance as simply sweet, but the fragrance is not that sweet at all and has so much to tell. As a lover of the Orient, I am almost moved by how close the fragrance comes to my impressions of and from Oman. Many oriental perfumes are heavy, very dense, dark and very strong. I love it that way, but I understand that there are people for whom it is often too much. With this fragrance, the Orient is soft, almost a touch transparent, warm like the sun in the Orient and interesting like the spice markets that are everywhere..

When you spray on the fragrance, you are immediately in Muscat at the market. The atmosphere is bright, very friendly, it's incredibly warm and it smells so incredibly good. Super friendly sellers give me a friendly smile from every side and give me a sign that I should take their saffron, fresh cinnamon, cardamom etc in my hand and sniff it. I do and a soft explosion of warm spices caresses my nose. I have arrived in fragrance heaven. I walk on and nibble again and again on the fresh, juicy dates that are offered to me everywhere. I make my way back to the hotel. My legs are tired and my face is burning from the sun. As I enter the lobby, I am greeted by the familiar scent of soft incense, the scent you can enjoy in any hotel lobby in Oman, Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Not strong but just the right amount. There are small incense burners with incense in the corners. If you stand in the right light, you can sense a small soft white cloud spreading the scent. All these scents are supported by a sweet, dark rose that watches over the whole like a queen of the Orient. The fragrance has a slight animalic note for the first hour, which comes from the oud, in the drydown the oud becomes very soft and gives the fragrance just a little twist.

For me such a fine masterpiece that tells such a fine story. A fragrance that absolutely must be tested if you love oriental perfumes.

A unisex fragrance that goes a little more in the masculine direction but can be worn by everyone. H+S is very good.

The devil is in the details.
As already very well was explained, it is known with the " Muscat " from which universe he comes.

What I personally like very well in him is his Alleinstehende finely nuanced DNA by date & rose.
The fragrance has power and smells rich, but has a transparency and does not seem overloaded. The one or the other fragrance from the Oud for Greatness family I have not tested but I can only say that he is very complex and multilayered built.

Ultimately, the devil is in the details and everyone who celebrates the direction must decide for a particular direction ... Untrained noses would have difficulty to smell out the subtleties, which is why you vllt also to a cheaper alternative such as the "Afnan Supremacy in Oud" etc would reach what is also completely in order.
To find a conclusion, who is looking for a more complex version is gold right. Who but the subtleties are indifferent and on the pure base values should possibly look around elsewhere.

Vetiver scorchy wood
On my skin, Muscat opens distinctly of dry vetiver for the first 20 minutes or so, until it is joined by a scorchy synthetic wood note, not so burnt it smells like hair up the wrong side of the hairdryer, but it's close. The vetiver goes away, and then it just continues as this scorchy wood for hours and hours, until finally that goes away after 8-10hrs and all that's left is vaguely sweet vaguely resins.

On my husband, it smells like a well blended dry amber. It does not do the scorchy thing and there are no sharp edges but there's also not really much distinctive about the fragrance. It lasts on him about 8hrs before it starts to get hard to detect.

It wore pretty close to the skin on both of us.

Sprayed on from brand sample out of Scent Club Mystery Kit #1. Worn about 11hrs at time of writing.

Oud for greatness spoof
basically if you want to have oud for greatness in a smaller size and spend 200 dollars less you mind Aswell get this. great scent I would say the longevity is poor compared to our for greatness, still a great alternative, strong oud and saffron off the bat but dry down sweetens up a bit and more of a milky vanilla and date come out.
I would say
8/10

Muscat is a more subtle Oud for Greatness. A discreet rose, saffron, sweetened by the fruity scent of dates. Woody and fluffy musky base.

Well well well, pleasantly surprised to find that this is quite similar to my all time favourite Oud for Greatness by Initio…..
