Profumum Roma / Victrix

Long story short: a green forest full of green conifers - spruces, pine trees, pine needles, cones and all-consuming resin pouring out of young cones and dripping onto the mulch. In addition, a lot of green and grass. Every now and then you can feel the wind and fresh breeze from the distant and warm sea, because it is the smell of a forest or a pine park during the hot summer by the Mediterranean Sea. Who has been or happens to be in Italy or on the Mediterranean in such forests, parks, knows what I am writing about. The only thing missing is the chirping of crickets ... but I prefer them to cicadas ;-)
Durability over 7 hours. Moderate projection at shoulder length.
Next to Arso- my next wood favorite Profumum Roma.

Opens with greenish notes reminiscent of the smell of undergrowth after a rainstorm. Very fresh and aromatic this fragrance is unlike most Profumum Romas I have tried before since it is airy and not sweet at all. It is however, far too linear for my taste and it bores me soon after application. The scent changes a bit halfway through its development, becoming drier and woodsier once the pepper takes center stage.

So, every now and then, I try perfume families that i usually don't gravitate towards. It's good to try new things and get new perspectives especially when you are in an unknown place. This time, that place was Rome and i was looking forward to take a dive into the city and it's perfume shops, asking for the one thing that i usually hate: fresh summer fragrances.
Smelled many, disliked most but eventually got in the Profumum Roma shop near Piazza del Popolo and the tables turned.
I was already a bit defeated but still wanted the challenge. Fresh summer fragrances - i said, but added: I usually don't like them. I go towards dry, woody, wintery style fragrances with a touch of warmth. The lady from the shop asked me if i liked oakmoss and i smiled. She handed me Victrix, and i felt understood.
The very distinct aromatic opening with the bay leaf and pink pepper is bold and gives this a salty, summery and spicy character to a more traditional chypre base that feels so conforting.
Great quality, very natural scent, simplistic in it's approach that is distinct from the boring clean colognes yet, unpretentious when compared with the complex concoctions that always remind me of the Nietzsche quote: They muddy the water, to make it seem deep.
To me, a great discovery: Rome, Profumum Roma and Victrix.

Rome after the rain

This smells like you're walking in a grove right after it rained, the wet bay leaf trees, the fresh air carrying their scent, the wet ground, and suddenly you find the exit...

You open the last brenches of the trees and Rome appears in front of you.

I love it so much! Reminds of a wet landscape.
