Alba by Profumum Roma
Opens with a sweet but indistinct floral note. Light touches of spices and vanilla add depth and sparkle to the still-unidentified top note. From afar, however, I see things more clearly: a rich heliotrope note layered over a white-flower note. Iris and sandalwood shroud the heliotrope-white flower accord in a dense veil of powder. The fragrance develops into a very nice iris and amber composition: powdery-floral with a slightly gourmand base. This perfect equilibrium does not last very long and quickly the scent progresses to the sweet dry-down: a milky hazelnut and vanilla blend dusted with powdered sugar.

Coziness
The best way to describe what this perfume feels like to me, is to picture yourself in front of an indoor fireplace, in your softest pajamas, with a wool blanket wrapped around you and drinking a cup of hot cocoa milk. Outside is snowing peacefully and not a single sound is made. Everything is quiet, only the burning logs animate the surroundings . Absolute stillness. You feel warm, loved and tranquil. If coziness was a scent, Alba would be its name.
I've always struggled with vanilla. Not my favorite ingredient in perfumes, not even in pastry. Too much will make my stomach feel ill. But there is something in Alba that is similar to vanilla. Maybe it's the almonds mixed with sandalwood that give me such an impression. Alba is to me what vanilla is to others.
The scent is simple and linear, it doesn't project like a bomb, but you can smell it from half an arm away and it lingers on your skin for a long time. It's sweet and nutty, but not childish. More of a grown up gourmand kind of sweet. It is creamy but powdery the same time. It's also woody and I know the hazelnuts are responsible for this beautiful effect. The hazelnuts are not Nutella style and not even roasted. They are raw and fresh. To sum it up, the scent is reminiscent of a hazelnut cappuccino, with more milk than coffee.
As for the name, this doesn't smell white (Alba) to me. More like beige or cream. But I know that white is associated with innocence, so yes, the name fits its character. My favorite perfume for winter!

In brevity lies the spice
As so often in many things, it is not always about quantity, but much more about quality.

This motto seems to have been embraced by Profumum Roma's "Alba".

After being completely captivated and convinced by "Vanitas", I was now very curious about "Alba", the old albino (Ti, thanks again for the sample).

The three protagonists Amber, Almond Tree, and Sandalwood are just made for me. Although I couldn't really imagine the scent of an almond tree at first. But never mind.

Right after application, I can perceive Amber and Sandalwood as strong components. However, not in a penetrating or overly exaggerated way, but rather pleasantly present without barging in with the proverbial door. Perhaps it is also because "the almond tree" joins in very quickly? It doesn't smell distinctly almondy, more lightly woody, but very pleasantly woody. Overall, the three seem to understand and complement each other very well. Nothing is disturbing, nothing pushes itself to the forefront; all three play on equal footing with each other, not against one another. Certainly, some may find this scent rather boring because it doesn't offer a significant scent development. But in this case, that doesn't bother me at all, as its predictability makes it universally applicable.

I also think that the right name has been chosen here, as strictly speaking, I would describe Alba as a pure and white scent. It lacks (thankfully) the medical severity that would certainly prevent it from coming across as soft, gentle, and rather close to the body despite all its clarity.

For me, a more than successful composition, wearable by both genders for almost any occasion and season.

This makes the wish list happy and the credit card groan.....

Threesome
... not a love triangle, because Alba has no corners.

Amber, almond tree, sandalwood.
With Alba, it’s exclusively about these three.

Amber and sandalwood are indeed particularly suited for pairings due to their fundamental scent direction. Warm, dark, sweet, one being woody, the other porous and bodily.

But no, alas, nothing can come of them, as both are exceptionally strong characters. They are excellent for giving weight to other scent combos in the base and also like to be dominant and distinctive as main notes... but together? Two classic rounding notes with hefty solo potential meeting each other. That they get along, harmonize rather than compete, and that they produce something common is unlikely.
Yet it is a Ménage à trois - there is another note: almond tree.

What is "almond tree"? Why is it not called "almond wood" when referring to the wood of the almond tree? Or is something holistic meant? A kind of overall impression of wood, leaf, blossom, and nut fruit?
It indeed seems to be about something like that, and therefore the name "almond tree" is completely appropriate. This is written by an expert who should know! *g* I come from the Hessian Bergstraße. I grew up where every year the unofficial start of spring is determined by the blooming almond trees. You don’t have to travel to Italy to find out that almond trees have a strangely delicate and soft scent in their overall smell (wood + foliage) and that the sweetness and typical almond scent can already be faintly smelled... not just when the fruit is harvested and roasted.

This third partner, bringing an immense delicacy, mediates between the other two notes, creating a true accord, a perfectly blended triad:
Alba is supersupersuper soft, enormously gentle and tender, a bit powdery, very "dry" in appearance, sweet but appearing very natural, never squeaky. Contrary to expectations, there is no warmth - on the contrary, the scent feels slightly cool. It is also peculiarly "clean," without becoming fresh.
"Alba" (Latin for white) thus becomes a very fitting name, without the perfume being a white floral scent.
This fragrance is distinct and characteristic, but not very extroverted. Almost a skin scent with its closeness to the skin and bodily sweet appearance. Neither amber nor sandalwood makes its stamp too prominently.

Alba's soft blowing now beautifully brings gentle scent caresses to my skin thanks to Joley (bottling) and Inala (FS-sharing). Thank you!

Cultivated Boredom
Not everything and everyone has to develop spectacularly. It's also nice when someone simply sticks to their initial statement. Sure, you can often anticipate every next response in advance, but that very predictability gives you a sense of security and stability.
Alba persists. It warms the heart from the very beginning, without making you sweat under thick amber duvets. Alba gently unfolds with a hint of almond, no fuss, everything is straightforward and solid; yet you know what comes next, and still, you enjoy listening attentively. Alba is the calm in perfume. The sitting room with armchairs and a nose sofa.

The best ones are those that don’t ramble on.

For me, it's a rather heavy, powdery, fruity-fresh sweet scent that somewhat reminds me of grape sugar.
