Very nice, masculine blue perfume
I have recently tested Chanel Bleu EDP and Parfum versions and Dylan Blue. Out of those three, I decided to get full bottles of Chanel Bleu EDP and Dylan Blue. Chanel Bleu EDP strikes me as a more formal blue fragrance while Dylan Blue is fresher.

Now I come to Polo Blue Parfum. It comes across to me as also being on the more formal/mature side, similar the Chanel Bleu EDP. (I'd say the Chanel Bleu Parfum version is the most formal/mature.) To be clear, all four fragrances I've mentioned here are not super sweet; I do not like very sweet fragrances. So, I guess it would be safe to say that all four fragrances are more mature.

What I found most unique with Polo Blue Parfum is that it settles down into an awesome soapy scent which I found to be really nice. That would make it particularly good for warmer days. Performance all the way around is moderate; I'd rate its performance slightly less than the Chanel Bleu and Dylan Blue.

Finally, given that I like Polo Blue Parfum, I have to decide on how many blue fragrances I need. While I do like the soapy aspect, at this point I'll put it on my 'maybe buy in the future' list. However, that shouldn't detract others from making this their blue fragrance, because it's really nice. If I'd have changed the order of my testing and buying, I might have ended up with an FB of Polo Blue Parfum.

Overhyped and borderline dishonest fragrance
I had to return my bottle of Polo Blue Parfum and I will try to outline why I think you should definitely not purchase this fragrance.

Firstly, I am a fan of Polo Deep Blue , I have two bottles of it. The performance is average on skin but it does last a good amount of time on clothes. So there's that.

Unfortunately, Polo Blue Parfum is not only a very basic, uninspiring fragrance but it also have an abysmal performance for something that presents itself as above eau de cologne concentration.

I purchased the bottle from a reputable source, never had an issue with them, it was original and no problems with packaging or transportation.

It smells exactly like an expensive and refined Gillette shaving foam but also like a drugstore fragrance. It is well blended, for whatever can be smelled out of it and it's not much, but there is absolutely no way so many notes were used into this fragrance. They could have mentioned only 3 notes and it would have been sufficient: mandarin orange, soap, woods. The rest of it is all marketing.

But the real problem is that this fragrance does not do anything at all. I am dead serious. You will see people on the internet saying that they like it but they have to spray twice in the same spot or others that sprayed it and couldn't sense anything, I was one of them.

From the moment of application you can barely smell it for like 20-30 minutes and then it becomes very close to the skin. You will detected it like 2 hours on the skin, maybe. I sprayed in spring 2 sprays on my t-shirt, not too cold, not too hot, just a tad of wind outside but not much. After 4-5 hours after coming back home from mall shopping, I smelled my t-shirt and I could sense the detergent that was used to wash it!

But all things considered, definitely Polo Blue Parfum is a dishonest parfum concentration in both longevity and intensity. It's bad fragrance in general that I cannot recommend and I really can't understand how the fragrance community votes are so high on it.

Like someone mentioned below, you are better off with something cheap like Chrome Extrême

Polo Blue Parfum
Blue Parfum starts off with its top notes different from the usual Polo Blue formula, but I can tell that this is a Polo Blue fragrance. It’s just using some different notes.

Actually, one thing I noticed is how this also resembles an Acqua di Gio scent. For me, it comes across as a spicier and less marine version of AdG eau de parfum. Also, lacks the metallic note of the Armani.

These two colognes do have a lot of overlap: mandarin, vetiver, patchouli, clary sage, and lavender.

So, Blue Parfum is like a Polo Blue (maybe closer to EDP) and Acqua di Gio EDP.

Anyway, Parfum starts off with its mandarin note, being quite apparent. Not as standalone powerful, as in AdG, but its there and noticeable. For me, I get clary sage, with the pink pepper and cardamom not overwhelming me with their intensity.

Yes, this is spicy and fresh, but it’s totally balanced with that citrus note.

The next phase comes in, with more of the vetiver and lavender. It’s smoother, less spicy, and the mandarin takes a back seat. The fruit, will stick around just not to the same extent.

Woodsy, clean, aromatic, with some earthy smokiness popping through. No worries though, this isn’t going to go completely ‘dirty’, sticking close to a mainstream wearable fougere fragrance.

As I get further into the dry down, it’s really woodsy. Oak, vetiver, patchouli, sage, and the rest all working in a balanced harmony with one another. Nothing too complex here, but clean and fresh and easy to wear.

Deep blue
A hot summer evening on the yacht. My wife is getting ready, applying the last touches of make-up and putting on her light summer dress. The boat shoes fit like a glove. The linen shirt clings lightly to my toned torso, while the wind from the Adriatic coast slowly blows along the shore between my skin and the fabric. "Honey, are you ready? Our shuttle is about to arrive," I ask downstairs. A whiff of Polo Blue drifts from my chest up into my nostrils. Light citrus notes, with wood music in the background that knows its place and doesn't become intrusive during the concert. My girlfriend's smiling face emerges from the wet room, she looks simply wonderful. "Just one more second," she says before turning off the light and coming upstairs. The marinero approaches at reduced speed in his speedboat, stops sensitively and docks at our yacht. I help my friend climb over the railing before taking the first step into the speedboat myself. The marinero shifts into reverse and slowly increases the speed as we leave the yacht behind us. My wife sits next to me and smiles. "You smell good. Is that Polo Blue?". I nod and smile back. She slowly snuggles up to me and I hear her exhale, visibly relaxed. I hug her with my left arm while I hold on to the starboard side with my right arm. The speedboat is now pushing through the calm sea at a whopping 40 knots, the sun is low. Nothing can disturb me. Life has never been easier.

Quest for Blue - Blue Parfum
The next in the Polo Blue series - and directly the latest and most powerful form? The perfume.

As an immediate note: the Polo DNA from the original EDT is barely perceptible - melon and cucumber are completely gone. Whether that's good or bad is for everyone to decide for themselves. Since I love the original form of this DNA, there was a bit of disappointment involved.

However, this quickly disappeared, as Polo Blue Parfum is a great blue fragrance in a vacuum and does a lot of things right.

A delicious mandarin opening, mixed with aquatic notes. Woods are then quickly added, followed by incense in the drydown for a pleasant depth. The whole thing is blended very harmoniously - not scratchy, but harmonious.

Fresh and light enough for daytime, but serious enough for an evening event. Even though I like the EDT more, this one is objectively more mature and full-bodied. You lose fruit, but gain depth and masculine notes.

Longevity and sillage: similar to the entire range.

Aquatic woody aromatic. Dominant herbal lavender + clary sage within a soapy water matrix, grounded by a sweet patchouli and woody base.

Somehow it doesn't bring anything new... is it even more boring than the EdP? Shower gel lavender with a synthetic wood mix

So common blue smell,, the price is a " no way" price ( almost 100$ ??!! ) for another Azzaro Chrome extreme . Better buy old BDC.

It’s pretty good. After testing this one for a while, I think I enjoy others in the series like EDT, EDP, and Deep Blue more than this.

To me, it’s just a whole bunch of mandarin orange, cardamom and pink pepper and nothing else. So spicy it burns your nose hairs off lol. It’s alright.

A nostalgic treasure for Polo Blue enthusiasts, yet unremarkable to those indifferent to its legacy. Me? I'm in the middle.
