The Middle Path of Robert C.
Ordered together with Just Cavalli Blue as a set of 2, since I already liked Black. And I also like Blue in its naive-cheap way just enough. A big thank you to Mr. Apicius for such tips; you can always rely on his opinion, an absolute role model! What about Him?
It's a simplistic blend of Black and Blue, pretty much exactly in the middle. I have the 60 ml versions of Blue and Him, and the 100 ml of Black. Him is not bad, but far from outstanding. It's straightforward, flat, and unremarkable; moreover, the ugliest Cavalli bottle is extremely off-putting and brings down the associations with the scent. But it's not unpleasant and certainly doesn't stand out badly. I think it hardly stands out at all; I would love to know if anyone has received compliments on it. I can hardly imagine it.
The bottle is terrible, and even the colors don't match like with Blue. The sillage is in the middle range, right between the two brothers. It's well-suited for the office and the beginning of summer. The longevity should be around 6-7 hours, but unfortunately, my nose got used to the scent after 3 hours and I could hardly perceive it anymore. But I am sure it was still there a bit longer.
The middle ground of extreme citrus freshness and light flowers and spices is uncomplicated and okay, but I prefer the two that choose a direction. At first, there’s a bit of bergamot, mixed with rosemary. I had no idea how rosemary smells before, but I researched, and that’s probably it. I could have guessed lavender or something like that. In any case, it’s a pleasant, soft spice that contrasts with the citrus and gives the scent a more masculine, everyday power. Then it goes into the floral direction, more towards bitter flowers like roses, which I actually like less. In the end, the flowers grow into real trees, and a frequently seen wood-musk base emerges.
Overall, Black plays in a higher league than Blue, and I find it a bit more pleasing than Him. You don’t necessarily need all three, but I also don’t urgently want to get rid of them from my collection. If I had to choose, it would definitely be Black!
