Loafer opens up strongly. Whenever I think of loafers, I get happy — they're my favorite type of shoe as they can be worn dressed up or down, and they remind me of warmer weather. Wearing a nice pair of those and spraying Loafer after a fresh shower, you can't go wrong.

This is a strong, clean scent that I can see why people might associate with clean laundry. It's a spicy clove overload with a good mix of ylang-ylang and patchouli. This reminds me of Irish Spring soap, too, which is probably my favorite soap scent. It's got cleanliness emitting from all angles.

The spiciness tones down a little but not much. It gets a touch sweet during the dry-down.

Loafer lasts a long time. For a clean scent, I've gotten almost ten hours with Loafer as my companion. Great sillage, too — I smell a big cloud around me, which I don't experience too often, especially with my habit of underspraying.

Now, as far as ratings go, some might think 7.5 is low. But the way I rate, 7 and up is definitely full bottle worthy. It just means the opening isn't my favorite, but I still love the scent, oftentimes more on how it develops — it's just not something I'd prefer to grab all the time.

Polo shirts, nice patterned trousers, some soft suede loafers go perfectly with this fragrance, but this can also be worn in the evenings with a suit. Spring and summer heavy but also works wonderfully in all seasons.

Is this the real "Spicebomb"? "Loafer" by Roberto Ugolini is an explosive carnation rammer. Italian. Strong. Spicy in all directions. The color of the bottle fits somehow, but there’s much more to it...

"Loafer" is a ranger and opera singer in one. He has hair on his chest but a backside like Beyonce. She lays you against her bosom. Or over his knee. He presses 150 kilos but has no aerobics ban either. "Loafer" is a masculine 80s powerhouse straight outta Sicily and at the same time a Parisian bohemian. Those who want to get to know clove have a reference. Those who don’t like it might want to run away. I wouldn’t count it among my favorites. But here it makes sense, feels very pleasant despite its enormous power, and sets a rhythm that you can definitely follow, almost sway along to.

Consistently high-quality, "Loafer" definitely makes you want to take a closer look at the Roberto Ugolini brand. You don’t see it too often in Germany. Some mall stores carry it, and that’s about it. I simultaneously tested Bulgari's "Wood Essence," which is creamy but completely and terribly chaotic. "Loafer" is the opposite. It seems chaotic but is at heart a truly creamy affair and very well thought out. That’s how it can go. Quite masculine. And that in a floral way. Respect.

Bottle: not niche, not designer, not bad
Sillage: potent little guy, never overpowering
Longevity: I would say an average of 6 hours

Conclusion: an honest macho, René Weller in a beautiful form. Finds calm in chaos. Even mellow and warm towards the end.

Hello Grandma / Hello Carefree Time
When I first sprayed the scent from a sample by Marc Gebauer, I thought only "what the hell".

It smells strongly of fresh laundry and, in my association, also of fabric softener. It wasn't until my second try that I realized it was a very strong and high-quality clove and ylang-ylang note. The more time I gave the scent, the more I liked it...

It reminds me of a carefree childhood that I associate with my grandma (everything washed with fabric softener :D). A fragrance that exudes lightness and ease... If you can get used to the strong clove note - this is the perfect carefree spring and summer scent.

For me, it's a little "time portal" to a time with my grandma. Where the "rose-colored glasses" of life are still firmly in place.

I can't get rid of it
if only I had consulted Parfumo first; before I decided to add this scent to my wishlist at Yuniqu.

Of course, I must admit that this is my first fragrance with clove in the top note. I couldn't imagine what that would smell like, so I took a look at Loafer.

When it finally arrived today, I eagerly sprayed it...and stood right underneath it....one might think that was a mistake. Loafer is a blast at first, really intense, spicy, and too overpowering for me. I can't get it out of my nose. After a few minutes, I stood in that spot again and what was it? Yes, much softer, gentle green....if only it were always like that.

I need to think about how I will best use this fragrance.

I find the bottle beautiful with its warm, glowing green and the leather label.

I can understand…
Well, the first time I sampled the Loafer, I was very new to it, maybe just a few weeks in. I had ordered a whole range of Ugolini samples and was sniffing through them. I had to wash off the Loafer! My question was why someone would want to smell like that?!
I can very well understand if someone finds the scent grandmotherly. I had that association right from the start. Also, that extreme fabric softener note is not so nice! I should add that at that time I also couldn't get along with Reflection Man by Amouage. It smelled old-fashioned to me! So the fragrance sample went back into the box it came from.
For about 15 months…
I took it out again and tested it once more. And I can still understand the bad reviews, but…
1. on my skin, I don’t like it at all. However, when I spray the scent on my clothes, just half a spray, I don’t find it so bad at all.
2. even with one or two sprays, the scent (on the clothes!) develops after 2.5 hours into a quite pleasant “clean-clothes scent.” Like when you take things out of the washing machine and smell them directly.

So the Loafer by Ugolini stays with me. Although for very rare occasions, it stays. And 5ml will last me forever…

A challenging blend of clove, musk, white flowers, and nutmeg. If you love the notes, you'll overlook the rough edges.

Angular big flowers (more jasmine or carnation than ylang??), bright with an indolic charm, straightforward with cheerful orange freshness.

Powerful, complex powerhouse in 80s style. Spicy, floral, full, sillage-rich. Longevity: endless. The dry down has a sort of Oud-smell alike.

A duel of clove + ylang that overwhelms me. Then the fabric softener takes over - clean musk sprinkled with nutmeg. Not for me.

Can't understand why this fragrance is rated so poorly! Beautiful orange, delicate clove meets wonderful ylang-ylang! Lovely scent.

Laundry scent beads and gum as a triple concentrate. It really blew me away. I feel fluffy like fabric softener and very, very cheerful.

Spicy, but also bubblegummy. Very floral. Distancing rather than attractive. Old school. Reminds me of the Latin teacher in a green tweed jacket.
