Marzocco Roberto Ugolini 2019 Eau de Parfum

*This review compares some nuances of Marzocco Eau de Parfum (EdP) and Marzocco Extrait de Parfum Limited Edition (extrait).*

"Marzocco" is a strong lion that was built in the 14th century to protect the city of Florence, Italy. Marzocco Eau de Parfum was inspired by the German fizzy candy, Frigeo Ahoj-Brause Brause-Pulver. The idea was to capture the tingly sensation one would get from eating fizzy candy, and I admit it is executed very well.

To me, Marzocco Eau de Parfum is a sweet, slightly sparkly orange creamsicle in a bottle. It's citric. It's creamy. It's delicious, and if I could, I would drink it. I want to, every time I spray it! My goodness! Even after a year of owning this perfume, I cannot stop smelling it every time I spray it. It is the third perfume from Roberto Ugolini's line that I purchased, and it is my most-used all-season fragrance. Yes, I said all-season! Even though it's very sweet, it's still an easy reach for spring and summer due to the citric notes. Mauricio Cerizza and Cristian Calabrò knocked it out of the park with this one.

Comparing between Marzocco Eau de Parfum and its strong brother Marzocco Extrait de Parfum Limited, Marzocco Eau de Parfum is a bit sweeter but falls short on performance by at least a couple of hours. Marzocco Extrait de Parfum Limited is much stronger, noticeably so just from smelling the atomizers. I also find Marzocco Limited to be a bit more fizzy if that makes sense. A little more tingly. It's the stronger lion version of its cub brother Marzocco Eau de Parfum.

Scents:
Both are extremely similar fizzy orange creamsicles, with Marzocco Extrait de Parfum being just a bit more sparkly (not at all in an off-putting way) which adds to its sillage, I think.
Performances:
Marzocco Eau de Parfum gives me 5-6 hours at best. Sometimes I get as little as 3-4 but I might be getting noseblind quickly, as I have received compliments after I was not able to smell it.
Marzocco Extrait de Parfum stays with me for 9 hours and more. It is what I wish Marzocco Eau de Parfum would have been! So I treasure and cherish my limited lions!

Silk or linen work best with this delicious juice. Soft and airy clothes fit the vibe of this playful fragrance. However, come colder weather, this can still work well under more layers. I am almost done with a bottle and will be restocking soon. I am in love!

Frisch, elegant und einfach schön tragbar. Marzocco startet zitrisch mit Mandarine und Limette, wird dann blumig und weich, bevor sich eine warme, leicht holzige Basis entfaltet. Für mich ein perfekter Unisex-Duft - nicht zu laut, aber bleibt im Gedächtnis. Zusammenfassend wirkt er elegant, unaufdringlich und ist sowohl für den Alltag als auch für besondere Anlässe geeignet.

marzocco by roberto ugolini bespoke shoes - an extremely uplifting perfume that radiates good mood. tingly, somewhat cheeky, and absolutely unique!

generally, the brand has been my fragrance house discovery of the year 2020 - as it brings together several of my absolute favorite perfumers under one roof. for example, the highly esteemed christian carbonnel or chris maurice, who is also very active for xerjoff and countless other brands - or the fantastic maurizio cerizza, to name just two of the world-famous masters. the entire series is under the creative direction of the legendary herbert stricker aka the nose behind.

roberto ugolini is actually a world-renowned bespoke shoemaker based in Florence. from the friendship between herbert and roberto, the idea of creating a fragrance line emerged over time. based on roberto's pronounced passion for scents and herbert's extensive experience, it could only be grand... personally, I find it noteworthy that I have not yet found a single fragrance from the series that does not suit me. of course, there are favorites like marzocco and blue suede shoes - but in terms of quality, there are no compromises in any single work.

When I first sprayed Marzocco, it was as if a window opened to the summer of Florence. The zesty freshness of lemon and mandarin danced immediately on my skin like the first step over the Ponte Vecchio on a clear morning, when the sun paints the pavement golden and the city slowly awakens.

A few minutes later, the mood changed. The lightness gave way to a floral elegance; orange blossom and jasmine floated like a gentle scent from the gardens of the Villa Bardini. I envisioned myself slowly wandering through the narrow streets, passing small workshops where the tradition of shoemaking is alive. There was a silence over everything, only broken by occasional chatter-a blend of everyday life and magic.

In the evening, as the scent on my skin deepened and warmed, I suddenly felt something majestic. Patchouli, vanilla, cedarwood-it was as if I stood before the statue of Marzocco, the stone lion that has guarded Florence for centuries. There was pride, strength, but also a quiet dignity.

Marzocco felt like an encounter with Florence itself: vibrant, charming, steeped in tradition yet full of lightness. A fragrance that is not simply worn but tells stories-stories of sun, stone, and pride.

My third fragrance from this brand that I acquired in 2023. I simply like these scents, especially when you find them at a fair price. The range includes many fragrances that can be easily integrated into everyday life.
This Marzocco seems to be the most popular under the brand Roberto Ugolini. I think it is the bestseller of the brand alongside 17 Rosso. Especially among men, this Marzocco appears to be very popular. This trend is reflected throughout the entire brand here on Parfumo. With 2% female owners, I can only recommend to the ladies: Test it. This fragrance is absolutely unisex for me. This sweet-creamy-fresh DNA could suit anyone who simply wants to smell clean and seductive. Personally, I like such scents, and with Musk Therapy from Initio, I had a fragrance that goes in a similar direction.

The packaging is uniform. All three of my fragrances from this brand came in an orange box that opens up. This officially costs €194 like most from this brand. However, a third of the price is discounted in some shops, which is fair for this quality.
Marzocco is a clean scent. Not boring-clean. It is well-groomed, seductive, and creamy.
In my opinion, the best part is the top note. Not because the base isn’t nice, but because it is quite close to the skin and unfortunately the performance drops off rather quickly towards the end. That was also the reason why I hesitated a bit about whether it would even make it into my collection. But: If you are looking for a nice scent for the in-between moments with a beautiful top note, here it is. If you are looking for beast mode performance, you should go for Musk Therapy.
The top note is, as mentioned, the highlight for me. It simply comes across as clean, sweet-creamy, well-groomed, and has a slight ice candy vibe in a positive sense. A very noble DNA that you don’t encounter often and will stand out positively. It’s hard not to like it. You get creamy mandarin that convinces with its fruity-freshness and gains a nice creaminess. Delicate floral notes quickly follow, which do not come across as too feminine. For 2-3 hours, it is truly a very seductive fragrance that radiates uniqueness and pleasantness. Unfortunately, the base becomes very, very weak, which should be taken into account. Close to the skin, you get a fluffy musk with wood and a bit of sweetness, which doesn’t project very well.
Overall, for me, it is still a worthwhile investment as you can wear this anytime, and it is already very unique, noble, and simply pleasant. Roberto Ugolini would recommend an Intense version of Marzocco due to its popularity, which performs similarly to Musk Therapy for about 10 hours with good sillage. The DNA has a lot of potential.

In conclusion, I can say: If you are looking for a well-groomed clean-creamy scent, you will find it here. Points are deducted for performance. With a good discount, it’s a good catch where you will definitely receive one or two compliments.
