Spring at Christmas
The shortest day of the year has just passed, numerous candles are lit to illuminate our "living caves", the fires are warming us and I'm sitting here writing a review about longing for spring, triggered by rediscovering a bottle of Rojas "Lilac".
This is certainly deeply moving and I heard myself sighing softly earlier, still enveloped in the darkness of the night: "Oh, dear spring, come soon!"
We don't find the sweet scent of lilacs here, as the name suggests; this beguiling fragrance is obviously just a synonym for the reawakening, exuberant blossoming of nature, the joy of reencountering greenery, flowers, warm sunshine and the return of migratory birds and many insects; the first butterflies in particular always bring me great joy.
"Lilac" is Roja's big loving embrace of spring!
This fragrant spring symphony contains completely alien tones: no daffodils, not even the lily of the valley that I love so much appears here.
But suddenly I'm lying on a thick blanket (where did that come from?) in the middle of a clearing, enjoying the scent-soaked bath of light and warmth that surrounds me to the full.
The air is like Prosecco mixed with bergamot flavors; its bubbles sizzle in my nose and make me laugh; no trace of the annual watery eyes and runny nose that have usually accompanied me since the first alder pollen appeared.
Breathing freely and deeply and lolling with pleasure to the rhythm of awakening nature - how beautiful! I stretch out further; I would love more, but I am too small to satisfy my longing completely.
Who is looking at me? Oh, hello, blackbird! No, you can keep your worm - don't scold me! He's gone!
Birds are chatting in the jasmine hedge, which is already covered in dense blossoms, and warm veils of delicate summer floral fragrance caress me as I watch some violets sunbathing in their green rosettes of leaves.
No, the expected young girls in their delicate lilac dresses with little bell hats really aren't here: instead, I discover an arrangement of roses and heliotrope, adorned with the same tartly scented orange blossoms and entwined with cheerful, bright yellow ylang ylang tendrils - spring greetings à la Roja Dove! The air is already warm, but the meadow on which I am lying is still sparsely greened; yet the ground already exudes balsamic, caressing, spicy-resinous and pleasantly woody aromas: No wonder with the exquisite fragrance beauties listed in the pyramid!
Ginger pinches my nose - this pepper relative can't resist teasing me a little again!
But cinnamon caresses me, comforting and warm, and the proud iris draws a light net of fine powder over me, as if to encapsulate the abundant heliotrope vanilla warmth and thus ensure that I don't shiver: After all, it's only spring!

No, today is Christmas Eve and yet, thanks to our world of fragrances, we can create seasons and moods: clear, light and invigoratingly airy or pompous, warming and erotically enticing! So let's make the most of our time "waiting for baby Jesus" with entertaining games of dice; who knows what will come of it.
