Its name is confusing and misleading
There's no denying it:
"Reckless" also bears the typical "Roja" fragrance signature (its unmistakable DNA), was composed just as skillfully as its now quite numerous relatives from such wonderful fragrance notes and is not shy and quiet in its appearance simply because of their number: "Reckless" also shines, radiates and vibrates with fragrant life!
But unlike the creations I have recently tested and reviewed in this community, "Reckless" is not heavy, dark, dirty, animalic and profound, but sweet and floral and filled with summery life and cheerfulness.
I don't know where this peculiar name comes from: in my opinion, "Reckless" is by no means reckless!
Perhaps I also missed the point in naming the fragrance; I can't deal with it because I don't understand it! Who can I ask?
Well, anyway: we all have to live with our name, whether we like it or not.
But back to the fragrance:
In terms of its structure alone, "Reckless" is also a typical Roja Dove fragrance, as can often, in fact always, be found in its creations.
The shady citrus grove with its wood accents of the trees, their bark, the dark green leaves as if varnished, their flowers and fruits of various kinds, shapes, colors, ripeness and finally aroma forms the prelude, the top note, the flower garden overflowing with fragrances near Grasse with all its flowers, the heart, vibrating with fragrant beauty and vibrancy, and the warmly enveloping, spice-soaked smoky notes form the base, in which a little scratchy, barbed oakmoss can be found from time to time as a matter of course.
But these apparent repetitions don't actually change anything:
After all, the dosage and maturity of the fragrance notes and their ever-changing composition vary from fragrance to fragrance, ultimately creating an independent fragrance personality!
And of course, "Reckless" is also greeted by a fragrance fountain of sun-ripened citrus fruit aromas, radiantly supported by aldehydes: lively, refreshing and slightly herbaceous-spicy.
The magnificent bouquet, whose loving and tasteful composition makes up the heart note, consists, among other things, of numerous flowers of the white Grasse jasmine so coveted by perfumers for their creations and the May/grass rose, which can only be found there, and which has now been "re-cultivated" after its fields were sacrificed not so long ago (in the seventies) to the construction activities of the real estate mania and concreted over because of this "concrete gold". In the meantime, there is more than one initiative campaigning for our beloved roses! Richly fragrant, dark purple violets with friendly velvet faces and the fragrant embrace of vines with ylang-ylang blossoms are a natural addition.
And of course the "English/rose geranium" with its tart, spicy leaf and flower fragrances, which are so familiar to us, should not be missing here either.
Plump, ripe, juicy and velvety-skinned peaches with their rich aromas provide fruity sweetness.
This may read kitschy and overloaded, far too pompous for the sober reality of contemporary life; and yet every fragrance note has been carefully selected and finely dosed to achieve this touching "warmth".
This floral-sweet and summery cheerfulness in the fragrance now also needs a matching rich base, of course also Roja-like:
Warm, cinnamon-spiced musk-vanilla cream with a hint of pink pepper and coriander gently caresses the already awakened senses before they are caressed by the resinous, slightly sweet smoke of benzoin and styrax, the resin that harmonizes perfectly with cinnamon and vanilla (due to its own fragrance components).
(I learned this many years ago while tele-shopping and, by the way, "Der kleine Chemie-Baukasten" and the knowledge gained from it are very helpful for perfumers - and also for private "herbal witches". But that's just a side note!)
For me, "Reckless" is a luminous summer day on the skin, rich and fragrant with fruits and flowers, whose enchanting dusk slowly transforms into creamy, spicy musk-vanilla warmth and styrax-dark violet smoky and graceful.
I still can't get to grips with the name of this fragrant work of art (I just don't associate it with the friendly, harmonious fragrance progression!), but the sillage and longevity are again typical à la Roja Dove:
Full-bodied, round and long-lasting - a real pleasure that I always fully indulge in out of love for these fragrances!
People like to call "Reckless" and its numerous relatives that are floating around in our fragrance world tasteless, loud and overpriced:
That doesn't interfere with my personal pleasure! Or, to simply refer to the competition: J'Adore!
I adore the most of them!
