I have the first numbered bottle in the world
What can be said about RDHP20?
A perfect floral ambery perfume for all seasons!

Really luxurious...
its performance is really good!

Once when I wore it at a family meal, my sister told me that she can't stop smelling me and that it's my best perfume in her eyes...
and I have a respectable collection;)

This is the only Roja perfume I bought in a blind buy because I bought the numbered bottle number 1 that the company makes.

8.5/10.

Ambery and mossy, male leaning unisex
RDHP20
(ROJA DOVE HAUTE PERFUMERIE 20)
Roja Dove 2024

I have been wearing this now for many days, in different kind weathers waiting if I get some challenging facets out of it. I have to say that this is quite safe perfume - if you already love Roja’s creations. It doesn’t mean that it’s boring or simple, no way, but it’s easy to love for sure. Since there are many people waiting some opinions on RDHP20 I want to keep this review simple. I concentrate on the questions which I have got the most and on the other hand I want to compare it with some scents so you maybe get the idea of the scent easier. COMPARING DOESN’T MEAN THEY ARE SAME.

What comes to the scent of RDHP20 there is nothing same with Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie (2019) which is a surprise for some if only checking all those notes. They share so many but believe me, you don’t get a sister of 15. Rather this is like an older brother, the male version of this pair of Chypres, it’s like the opposite as is the colouring of the labels.

Still RDHP20 is very unisex, and on my skin it stays a bit softer and lighter than on my husband’s skin, where the base is much deeper and darker with clearly musky and enjoyable Oudy undertones - but on my skin it never screams masculinity and it’s a bit sweeter.

The opening is sparkling with aldehydes, and citruses are detectable longer than in 15. There is somewhat familiar cola vibe in the opening as well which not only reminds me of Enigma Pour Homme but also of PDLN3. Yet, this seems to appear more clearly on my skin and not so much on male skin. However, it disappears as the scent develops.

This is ambery and mossy, all the flowers are not like a huge bouquet in 15, they stay totally in the background. Violet and Peach which both has a major role in 15 is tuned down here as well and I don’t find any traditionally feminine characteristics.

This is Chypre but not even close to Diaghilev neither to Chypre Extraordinaire. I have them both and I love them as well a lot but this is very different.

If you want to get the idea of the scent from the notes, you should just think of the base. It represents this gorgeous scent. Fresh and spicy, even smoky feeling from Frankincense, deep woods dipped in Peru Balsam, and Vanilla together with Benzoin bringing a little bit of sweetness and a lot of warmth. Oud, Musk and mosses are finishing the whole blend making it an incredible classy, somewhat nostalgic (not dated) and utterly luxurious elixir.

RDHP20 works well in hot weather as well but for some people it can be too much. I love these kind of scents in warm weather when I can detect even the smallest details of it. This is absolutely office safe when spraying sparingly but since I only have a sample I don’t have a possibility to test this in all possible environments, temperatures and moods. As I have tried to get as many wearings as possible from this precious sample I don’t have experience of overspraying which I love so much btw. Longevity is good even without overspraying.

Full bottle worthy into my collection of 24 Rojas.
Absolutely gorgeous scent.

Top:
Aldehydes, Bergamot, Lemon, Lime
(RDHP15: Aldehydes, Lemon, Bergamot,
Grapefruit, Mandarin, Orange)

Heart :
Geranium, Clary Sage, Magnolia, Freesia, Rose, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Violet, Peach
(RDHP15: Lily of the Valley, Geranium, Jasmine, Cistus,
Heliotrope, Violet, Peach, Red Champaca)

Base:
Rhubarb, Clove, Mosses, Cèdre-sur-Orris, Sandalwood, Clear Woods, Amber, Vanilla, Benzoin, Tonka Bean, Labdanum, Patchouli, Peru Balsam, Cypriol, Frankincense, Aoud Wood, Musks.
(RDHP15: Coriander, Ginger, Pepper, Moss Notes, Patchouli, Vetiver,
Casmir Wood, Amyris, Sandalwood, Benzoin, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Peru Balsam, Orris, Frankincense, Labdanum, Ambrarome Absolute,
Civet, Musk)

The house mentions key notes: Aldehydes, Lemon, Lime, Rose, Jasmine, Violet, Clear Woods, Amber and Vanilla. Imo Clove, mosses, Benzoin, Peru Balsam, Frankincense and Musks are definitely key notes as well. Without them this would be a way too linear.

Typical and somehow atypical = the mystery
Hello everyone,

A few weeks ago, I received the sample of Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie (2024) (thanks again for that).

A really common question is whether there are differences compared to Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie (2019).

Yes and no!

What do I mean by that?

I had the old Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie (2019) for quite a while, and there are few fragrances in this scent world that bring the elegance and class of that one, and that was exactly the reason why I ended up using it much less frequently, and ultimately that was also the reason why I sold it...

Do I regret it..., somehow yes...

And what about the Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie (2024)?

It carries this "class" with it and you can tell, but it is not as exorbitant as in the Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie (2019)!

Differences:

The Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie (2024)

- is more pleasing
- easier to wear (less heavy/bulky)
- more unisex than the old one (the tendency there leaned more towards feminine)

In addition, we have again the typical and proven structure of Roja = starting citrus fruity, moving to floral - lightly with creamy and slightly sweet musk.

Performance:

Very similar in both H/S!

How is it received?

Since it is easier to wear, regarding work, leisure, and parties (not disco), it is very well received...

But there is one difference that I notice again and again...!

It always smells like a "Tony Iommi Monkey Special | XerJoff" over time - without the passion fruit and without the leather. I have a 21' "Tony Iommi Monkey Special | XerJoff" that is less pronounced, but a current 23' and 24' really come close.

And that makes the scent really beautiful, exciting, and experiencing such a twist nowadays (despite new batches) is truly nice.

I can't wear this daily, but it is really nice to have ;).

Can I recommend it?

Test it and then decide..., I'll put it this way,
if I ever get a leftover bottle,
then I might not say no!

And now have a nice day/evening or whenever you read this review, best regards, Benny
_______

(Now the same as almost always - because it applies!)

Now to the topic of luxury:

As you can see partly in my profile, I have really smelled many fragrances, and there are scents where you can smell a certain (partly) strong synthetics, and you quickly realize that some fragrance houses focus more on quantity than quality, and there are some where you can tell "oh come on, let's add more + better ingredients" and you can really smell that at the end of the day.

Just a brief note on the topic of packaging, bottle, sprayer:

I'll keep it short; I give a 10 out of 10 in every category, and I know very well that tastes are very different. So, if someone honestly rates this with a 7 or less... - PHEW. Beautiful and very high-quality cap, nice timeless bottle design, etc. .... so I find it very hard to rate it differently, and I say this not because I like or dislike a brand!

Now a short note on my opinion:

I am not sponsored, influenced by anyone, receiving money, or anything else. I approach the topic of perfume as I am, honestly; everything else is not my style. My true personal opinion is very VALUABLE to me, and I hope maybe ;) that this is noticeable. If I don't like something, such as packaging, bottle, sprayer, or H/S, then I communicate that too!

High Perfumery or High Peach? Either way, I like it
Hello everyone,

I’m back with a review of a new Roja that could actually become a "crowd-pleaser classic." I mean it in the sense that there are Rojas that throw many, many fragrance notes at you all at once, which can be overwhelming and sometimes (for me) too much. In my eyes, for example, that’s a "Diaghilev (Parfum) | Roja Parfums." And please don’t get me wrong. Fragrances like the latter are CLASSICALLY composed, but just not easy-to-wear. Yes, yes, they are not meant to be daily scents, but I also don’t have to buy a fragrance that is simply too much for me. I hope you spare me for this opinion.
However, the Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie (2024) is completely different for me. And so my second perfume review begins.

Scent:
Roja Dove draws on THE unisex start of the brand. Fresh and slightly citrusy with aldehydes, lime, and bergamot. Sounds familiar to me, sounds familiar to you, and is certainly well-received. After a few minutes, the fragrance fully develops on my skin. (It might also be because I store the perfumes in the fridge and they need to warm up on the skin first. What’s your experience with that?) The flowers slowly bloom. Rose, freesia, and magnolia fight their way to the sunlight (please excuse this wording; it might be a professional hazard :D), while the sage always ensures that the scent never drifts too much into the feminine and remains beautifully wearable for all genders.
But what would this fragrance be without its main player? Roja chose an old acquaintance: the peach. When I first read this, I was worried I had made a bad purchase because I’m not a particular fan of this note. I’ve smelled it often, been bothered by it often, but Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie (2024) has reconciled me. A light and floral peach like this has fought its way back into my fragrance heart. This playful mix of notes lingers for many hours and lifts my spirits. True to Roja, the fragrance slightly changes its character from time to time, while all the notes play alternately with the peach, with the base type never deviating too much. I also find it very beautiful when the moss from the base shines through and leads to a "gentle momentum."
Once the peach is gone and has taken all the flowers with it, a long, faintly woody base remains, where the very clean oud along with the synthetic fragrance ingredient Clearwood lingers on my skin. Something still happens here, and that’s what I like about this perfume. The rhubarb flashes briefly, adding some last exciting moments before everything calms down, which I hadn’t expected at all.
All in all, I find it not too sweet, definitely fruity-fresh-floral, and occasionally slightly creamy before it drifts into a light woody scent. The progression is very well coordinated. You can at least expect that at this price, but I still want to mention it here.

Longevity:
It accompanied me on my several test days in a row from 8 AM to easily 10 PM, even though it’s not strongly perceptible later on. But I like that, and I’ll elaborate on that below. It doesn’t bother me to wear this one scent all day, as it often changes for me and doesn’t come off as rigid or linear.

Sillage:
I understand that the fragrance development in recent years has increasingly leaned towards scents with extreme longevity and room-filling effects (at least that’s my perception, WARNING: subjective!). However, I’m only partially a fan of that. I don’t want to burden my surroundings with the next powerhouse every day. I want to wear a fragrance that (ideally) accompanies me throughout the day but just accompanies ME and doesn’t drive anyone away. Of course, I have those kinds too, but I only wear them when I can’t stand someone ;).
The Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie (2024) radiates more strongly from my skin in the first hour(s) (never too strong) and noticeably backs off afterwards. Especially the last phase described above is super pleasant because I can perceive it, and the people immediately around me can too, but the room can still "breathe." That’s how it should be in my eyes, but other people have different preferences, and that’s perfectly fine.

Bottle:
Do I need to say anything about it? Roja-typical upper class from the sprayer to the design (the pompous design will always remain a point of contention). Enough said!

Who is this for and how is it received?
I think it’s unisex and can be used across a very wide age range, and you can never go wrong with it in spring/summer. The biggest difference to other Rojas, in my opinion, is that it’s not only suitable for the most noble and rare occasions but can also sweeten your everyday life. Give it a try and feel free to share your opinion with me, but I find it versatile despite, or perhaps because of, its high-quality fragrance ingredients. It’s not a Swiss Army knife like, for example, a "Noble XXI: Art Deco - Cypress | Clive Christian," but always good enough to leave a polished impression and stand out positively. I have always received positive feedback.

Would I buy it?
No. The retail price of a full bottle is certainly not worth it to me, but as a decant (thanks to David @MscGrmt), I wouldn’t want to miss it in the current season. Hats off, Roja, for the perfect release timing! Maybe one day it will be available as a leftover bottle at a better price.

So, that was quite a ride, and I hope I could share a bit about the Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie (2024) and my impression of it.

Thank you for reading, and have a great time!
--------------
P.S.: Feel free to take care of the question of whether a synthetic fragrance ingredient belongs in perfumes of this price range. Feel free...

Very similar to Semi Bespoke 1.
Classic Roja-style aldehydes and floral notes. Oud is not noticeable. Surely wonderful in spring.
