Representing Aswan in a luxury way.

Chose Aswan over London because of the freshness it gives other than having oud in the dry down.
Considering having oud in many fragrances this was a better choice especially for nights in Spring or Autumn.

Aswan used to be a well known city for traders, hence the fruity vibe is given for that idea.

At the other side the leather on the dry down represents the dryness of the city because of the high heat.

A great and a high quality fragrance for sure.

Even more positive leather than London
Even more positive leather than London, very lively, refinement, dense but again doesn't push over with the sweet fruits and florals. Preeety much impossible to not like, I'd say superlike without it having the addictive character, like how some fragrances are designed to be irresistible, like the Mindgames Blockade? Solid, mature, elegant, vigorous all in a very joyed manner. Half hour in get a flavour boost, quick lane switch and we're really talking scent right there. Uplift, going-out feel to it. Nice settle on the 1°C, 33°F outdoors walk, get the further shift, modified sweetness, stays florals and fruits active but adds a layer of dryness, not powdery, at all actually, just that mature dry.

Isn't that London?
At the beginning of this year, there was only one perfume that kept running through my mind.
London.
Sapphire Collection.
Widian.
Parfumo is full of it. I constantly see reviews, comments, and statements. Where does this scent come from? What have I missed? And why did I miss it? The fragrance isn't even that new; what's happening here?

A friend of mine got a sample but wasn't very convinced. I was visiting and, of course, got to test it.
Well? What exactly is happening in my nose right now? What did you just spray on my arm? I think I've rarely smelled such a beautiful opening.
Opened Parfumo, bam, and London lands on the wish list.

Weeks go by, and the scent stays in my mind. The only thing that separated me from London was the price tag of a hefty 230-250€/50ml. That's quite a chunk of change, isn't it?
Well, my current mission is to search for deals on various websites. At least 2 weeks pass, and I still haven't found anything. By now, I'm ready to pay 230€. Then this.

Aswan. 50ml. 155€. Boom.
What is Aswan? Why does it look so much like London? Wait, let me check Parfumo. Hmm, “Similar to London,” “London's little brother,” London, London, London,… .

What do you do in such a case? How long is this offer available? Will I manage to order a decant? No! I'm buying this now, but I'm not telling anyone so it won't be embarrassing if I don't like it.
Ordered.

2 days pass, and I can hardly sit still. Okay, I'm going to buy a decant after all; at least I can sell it again in its original packaging. Then I can test it and maybe ruin the anticipation for myself. Meanwhile, I look at other posts about Aswan, but unfortunately, it is so overshadowed by London that there is hardly any news or other opinions.

Ironically, the fragrance arrives on the same day as the decant. I was on a business trip, come home, and hold both in my hands. But one thing at a time. First, the decant. So much time must be taken.
The first spray and bam, there it is again. That moment, which feels like it was years ago for me. But what is this? It smells even better. Can that be? Is that even possible? This raspberry makes me melt (even today).
Okay, but first impressions can be deceiving. No hasty decisions here.
So I let the scent sit on my arm and wait. I keep glancing at the packaging of Aswan. Incredibly beautiful!
Slowly, the opening settles. And how do I like it? I love it. The leather unfortunately doesn't come through as strongly as in London, but the vanilla comes through even more. I like it, I like it a lot. I still have the London sample somewhere. I dare to make a direct comparison.

Spoiler: by now, I have already opened Aswan because the sample convinced me so much that I couldn't wait any longer. Wow, this bottle. Wow, this packaging. Just a side note.

Direct comparison after 2 hours. For me, the winner is: London. Wait, isn't that a comment on Aswan? Am I okay?
Yes, but my love for Aswan only really developed after the 2nd or 3rd comparison. Of course, by then, I had already asked a friend or two what they thought of the two candidates. Clear story. 4:0 for Aswan. And I noticed it too. By now, I find Aswan “significantly” more pleasant and beautiful. In my opinion, this is a fragrance that definitely needs time. You have to let it develop, you have to give it time, you have to allow yourself to fall in love. Speaking of time, how long does it last? Days! Is the answer. It’s sometimes really amazing how long a scent can cling to clothes. The perfume I use to test the longevity of a scent is Carved Oud. Solid to very good longevity. Anything stronger is great. Anything less, well, we’ll see. Aswan on the sweater in the morning, applied Carved Oud in the evening, and the next evening I only smelled Aswan. I can be sure that 3 to 5 sprays will carry me through the evening when I go out or am on the go. And the next day, I still smell good, no matter where I wake up. But do I like it alone, or how do the reactions around me turn out?
No other scent guarantees me as many positive compliments as Aswan. And I'm not exaggerating. I don't get feedback on my scent that often. Every now and then, okay. But with Aswan, they are practically pre-programmed. That makes it fun. Even my father, who doesn't care about perfume and only wears it when my mother forces him, even he managed to slip a compliment. And that has only happened once before. With Light Blue pour Homme Eau Intense by Dolce & Gabbana, mind you.
The compliments are one of the best things about Aswan. It is simply well-received by men and women alike.
The feeling I have while wearing Aswan is also indescribable. You feel beautiful, you feel like the main character, you feel like you can do anything.
Aswan has managed to become my favorite fragrance.

And all thanks to a silly discount promotion from an online shop. Man, I love perfume. And give your fragrances time; they deserve it!

An Oriental Whisper
When I first spray Aswan, I am actually just curious. A fragrance named after a city on the Nile sounds exotic, but also mysterious.

The first seconds are like a sudden step into sunlight: fresh bergamot, zesty and bright, accompanied by a surprising sweetness of raspberries. I immediately feel transported to a scene - a market in the early morning, vendors laying out their goods, fruits gleaming in the heat.

But Aswan does not remain light-footed for long. Over time, a new layer emerges, darker, deeper leather, musk, a hint of tobacco. The market transforms into something else: a boat ride on the Nile at sunset. The water still carries the warmth of the day, and a fine smoke from burning wood wafts over from the shore.

After a few hours, I smell my wrist and realize that Aswan has now fully settled in - warm, soothing, almost like a second skin. Not loud, not intrusive, but elegant, like a memory that you can't let go of.

I catch myself consciously noticing this scent again and again. It is not a perfume "for every day" for me, but rather like a travel diary that you open during special moments - when you long for warmth, for distant places, for stories.

At the end of the day, I feel that Aswan is less a fragrance, but more a journey: from the vibrant sweetness of the beginning through the mysterious depth to an intimate calm.

If Widian London is too linear for you, but you still love the raspberry-leather combination, ASWAN is the answer! Completely underrated!
I want to mention at the outset that I own both fragrances - the "Sapphire Collection - London | Widian / AJ Arabia" and the "Sapphire Collection - Aswan | Widian / AJ Arabia." IMPORTANT: I pay for my fragrances myself, so I am very objective and neutral. I have been able to test both fragrances extensively over the past few weeks, and I must admit; Aswan and London are top fragrances from Widian. Since the fragrances are very distinct but still share a great common base, I would like to focus more on the differences between the two in this article. I don’t need to say much about the brand itself; anyone who knows Widian is aware of the high quality; the DNA is unmistakable!

So, where exactly do the parallels and differences between Aswan and London lie?

- The parallels are explained very quickly; namely in the drydown! While London starts with the spicy-sweet raspberry-leather combo and fades away in a very similar/linear manner, Aswan develops into the exact same base from my perspective. Subtle differences, but not noticeable for the "average person." The tobacco that is additionally present in Aswan is perceptible, but not significantly impactful in the overall perception.

- The differences between these two fragrances mainly lie in the opening; Aswan has a distinctly noticeable freshness added by the bergamot, which makes this beautiful raspberry-leather combo feel really special and gives the fragrance a certain depth and complexity. Right from the first spray, you are greeted not by the "heavy" London DNA, but by an extremely pleasant freshness that makes the fragrance much more suitable for everyday wear, yet somehow also very special, because there are very few fresh leather-raspberry fragrances. A truly creative composition, and I must say that Aswan is unfortunately given far too little attention considering how brilliant the fragrance actually is.

- The H/S in Aswan is of course not as strong as in London due to the added freshness, but one has to reckon with that when adding citrus fragrance components; even if the drydown smells very similar. Is that bad? No, absolutely not! That’s exactly what makes Aswan a great alternative for everyday use or for work, office, etc.

Overall, it must be emphasized that Aswan is unfortunately given far too little attention. It is truly creative and builds on the successful elements of Widian London, but that’s precisely why the fragrance might unfortunately stand in the shadow of its big brother!

Aswan opens peppery with fresh citrus, raspberry and an ozonic violet leaf. Its smooth leather base is a fresher, playful take on London.

Ozonic fruity leather. Fresh airy raspberry brightened to the extreme by citrus, pepper & strong violet leaf. Faint woody and leathery base.

Ultra-sweet raspberry candy opening leads to a "smoothed out" suede/leather. Kind of boring and designer-y. Overpriced.

Initially juicy and spicy fruity-sweet, a warm and powdery, oriental earthy-spicy Fall fragrance, on a smooth musky-woody base. 100% unisex!

Fresh and airy leather with a fruity base. Far from London, but true to its genre. Easy to wear

Sweet leathery start, shifts to ozonic citrusy designer-style. Good for fresh scent lovers.
