When I traveled to Turin for the first time, I was full of anticipation. It wasn't just the Turin exclusive Torino, and it wasn't only because the city is considered the home of the Savoy and the cradle of Italian culture, but also because one of my personal fragrance passions has its origin there: Xerjoff. I knew I had to visit the boutique at Via Cavour 1, the place after which one of the most iconic perfumes of the house is named.
The way there took me through narrow streets, past cafés where the aroma of freshly ground espresso wafted through the air. Turin has its own vibe-elegant, but never arrogant, rich in history yet full of life. When I finally stood in front of the boutique, the moment felt almost ceremonial. The facade appeared classic, understated, almost as if it didn't want to reveal the secret inside right away.
I opened the door, and immediately I was enveloped by an atmosphere that I can hardly describe. It was as if I had stepped into another world-a blend of modern luxury and timeless elegance. Warm lights reflected in glass display cases, heavy wooden furniture stood next to polished marble, and in the air was a fine scent that captured me instantly. It wasn't just a single fragrance, but a mosaic of many that came together to form a harmonious whole.
A consultant approached me with that unobtrusive friendliness that one only knows in Italy. She asked if I already had a favorite. I told her that I was here because of Via Cavour 1, and she nodded knowingly, as if she had been waiting for exactly that.
She picked up the bottle, a small work of art in itself: heavy glass, golden cap, elegant yet inviting. With an almost ceremonial gesture, she sprayed the fragrance on my wrist.
The first breath was a little shock-but in the best sense. Fresh, sweet, fruity: quince and white peach immediately revealed themselves in the air. I could almost feel the Italian sun, the golden fields, the fruit hanging ripe and juicy in the warmth. But in the next moment, the fragrance changed. The sweetness became darker, deeper. A rose, rich and opulent, intertwined with the bitter-smooth aroma of dark chocolate. Suddenly, it was no longer just a fragrance, but an entire scene: A walk through Via Cavour itself, perhaps in the late afternoon, with a piece of Pasticceria in hand and the shine of the palaces around me.
And then, as I raised my hand to smell it again, the fragrance settled slowly. A warm veil of vanilla, caramel, amber, and musk enveloped everything, gentle yet insistent. A hint of oud flashed briefly, barely noticeable, more like a shadow that adds depth without being intrusive. It was as if the fragrance was saying: I am not just beautiful, I am unforgettable.
I don't know how long I stood there, perhaps minutes, perhaps an eternity. I looked out through the window, saw people passing by on the street, heard the soft clinking of cups from a nearby café, and all of that merged with that one moment. The fragrance was suddenly no longer just perfume, but memory, feeling, atmosphere-a piece of Turin in liquid form.
Of course, I bought the bottle. There was no discussion, no hesitation. Later, when I carried it in my bag, I felt as if I had a little secret with me, a key to this city, to this day, to this experience.
Even today, when I spray Via Cavour 1, I travel back: I see the boutique, hear the soft creaking of the door, feel the warm light on my skin. I smell the espresso from outside, the chocolate and roses inside, the vanillic warmth that wraps everything like a hug. It is not just a fragrance-it is a time capsule, a bearer of memories, a piece of the soul of Turin.
This fragrance is for me far more than a mere composition of notes. It is an experience that unfolds like a journey-from the fruity-bright opening to the seductive-gourmand heart to the warm, sensual base. With each spray, it tells a story that unites elegance, nostalgia, and joy of life.
What particularly touches me is its ability to connect opposites: sweet, but not childish; floral, but not overloaded; luxurious, but never ostentatious. It is a perfume that you do not just wear-you live in it.
For me, Via Cavour 1 is a fragrance that you do not forget. It stays on the skin like a memory, warm and comforting, and at the same time exciting enough to discover something new again and again. When I wear it, I feel like I am carrying a piece of Turin with me-elegant, steeped in history, and full of soul.
