I smell a small, fresh garden rose. Everything else has been filtered out by my nose.
The wonderful scent lasts for me 3-4 hours...

The Enchanted Roses of Paris

The critics on the internet were right: this version of the spring fragrances from YSL's Paris is truly the most beautiful.

The rose is present from the very beginning, and very present it is. Violet and orange blossom are at best supporting characters, allowed to hold her train but otherwise required to stay in the background.

Lily of the valley and apricot in the heart note fare similarly, but with lilac, the rose forms a wonderful alliance. The intensity of the lilac, influenced by the enchanted, light pink rose. She wears the lilac like a chinchilla collar around her neck, and one is almost inclined to bow before her. She is truly a beauty, an unreal, fairy-tale, enchanted beauty.

Even as the lilac then gives up and turns from chinchilla into rabbit, the rose is still present and seems to proudly say, look here, it’s me.

Sandalwood and musk at best allow her to prepare a soft, comfortable resting place, but nothing more.

I am truly surprised by this fragrance. The rose is - from the top to the heart to the base note - the mistress of the proceedings. A beautiful, enchanted fairy-tale rose, almost too beautiful to be true.

And that is the point: the longevity is also not in line with the price and value of this fragrance, although the sillage is noticeably better than that of Paris Roses des Bois.

The entire series of these Paris spring fragrances from YSL is a lovely and well-executed idea, even if it struggles with longevity. It is a joy to collect the scents from this series, especially since they are only available for a limited time. Next, I managed to get a Paris Pont des Amours and am already quite curious about how that one will be...
