A gorgeous deviation from your typical summer frags
This perfume really sneaks up on you. Capeline was a perfume that I surprisingly disliked when I first smelled it, but now, I’m a huge huge fan of it.
Capeline is a wonderful combination of lily and vanilla, with a bunch of supporting notes not too far off in the background. I mostly pick up on the ylang-ylang, sea notes, neroli, and musk here. I also slightly pick up on the vetiver, which adds a gentle aromatic touch to the overall scent. The opening is a bit disorienting, but once you give it a moment to settle, it’s really magical. It’s sweet, ever so slightly spicy, fresh, bright, but very complex and deep, all at the same time. It’s really incredible. My boyfriend usually likes a lot of my scents, but he was full on digging his nose into my neck when I had this one on and he kept saying how good I smelled.
As to who this scent is for, I can’t say vanilla lovers will love this because lily really is the star of the show. But, I definitely think it’s worth a try for those that want to add something a little different to their collection.
Capeline is so aptly named too. It smells like a sexy, freshly lotioned woman on an expensive boat / yacht, eating some sort of sweet, vanillic dessert after having gone for an afternoon dip. It’s giving luxury, it’s giving new money, it’s giving summertime fine somewhere out on the water. It’s just gorgeous really. And I LOVE the saltiness of the sea water note here. It just adds a beautiful salty and realistic touch to the scent.
The performance on this is decent. moderate sillage and moderate to good longevity. Yes, the price tag is hefty, but for the size of the bottle and for the quality of the scent, I think it’s totally worth it. I think I’ll be wearing this a lot over the summer.
