Frighteningly close to Blonde Amber - Drydown then exposes the 'Cheapie'
Once again proof that Lattafa is getting better and better. The opening is very similar to XXI: Art Deco - Blonde Amber, especially on the test strip. On the skin and then from the 2nd hour or in the drydown, however, you realize that it noticeably lacks complexity and power. But spoilers already: The 40-50€ can be spent blindly and with a clear conscience.
Immediately after spraying it on, I get blonde amber vibes.
This striking mixture of sweet-fruity herb davana, wood, sweetness from the date (probably decisive) and a very light, young, rather sweeter tobacco is immediately familiar.
I don't smell bergamot directly; it may add a slight acidity to the davana spice, but you can't smell it out.
After 30-45 minutes, the sweetness becomes even spicier. The (sandal) wood moves to the forefront and the tonka bean also beckons. Nevertheless, this resinous, dripping sweetness from the date is still the main protagonist. Even though it is not specified, I somehow still detect cocoa in the background.
You know when ripe dates are soaked in this sugar or glucose syrup and you smell them? It's that almost overwhelming (fruit) sugar bomb. Paired with frankincense or myrrh.
After 1.5 hours: The fragrance has changed little. The drydown is rather boring and you can already tell that the fragrance is nowhere near as complex as its predecessor. The durability and sillage are also decreasing.
I get a slight chewing gum vibe because I smell BIG RED. Just replace the cinnamon with dates. Once again, you notice that the davana-myrrh combination is a really great match.
After 2.5 hours: the sweetness gradually subsides. I am grateful for this, because half my arm has rarely been so resinous-sweet :D
Metaphorically speaking, you can now see how the liquid, sweetness and sugar are being sucked out of the date and it is starting to shrivel. At this point at the latest, you also realize that you have a cheapie in front of you: The date does not smell of high quality, but the woody-spicy construct does not destroy the fragrance.
Sillage continues to decrease significantly. You have to stand a little closer to me now to get a whiff of it.
The durability is still good, it still radiates a little and is not yet close to the skin.
Its DNA is at its most beautiful between 1.5-2.5 hours.
After 3.5h: The wort becomes less and less. Over the next hour, it crystallizes further in the direction it will take until its end after approx. 9h: Dripping resin meets dried date and then flows down onto wood.
After 6.5 hours: The Art of Arabia III can only be smelled very close to the skin. The date-like sweetness becomes darker, I can even still detect slight hints of smoke, but you can tell that the fragrance is only giving off its last twitches ;-)
--------
Conclusion:
An absolute banger from Lattafa.
For around €50, you get one of the finest night-out and date fragrances I've ever had the pleasure of smelling from the Cheapie range. It performs much better on the test strip than on the skin, because after 10 hours the room still let the whole room know "I'm here, I'm loud!" -- on the skin it does this for the first 1.5 hours.
The AoA 3 is absolutely unisex
Definitely for the colder seasons.
By no means a daily - it's too loud and somehow too "classy" to want to wear this beautiful fragrance every day.
No alcohol. No synthetic vibes. All in all, the fragrance is extremely round - if it weren't for the durability and sillage. But hey - we're talking about a 50€ perfume here ...
Unrestricted purchase recommendation. One of the best cheapies!
