The honeyed facet of white florals
In the same style as Granada, we've got a fragrance here that features beautiful white florals with a honeyed facet I wasn't expecting. Might be the broom note that is adding that "honey" scent, but I could swear there is honey. It tempers the jasmine and the orange blossom, giving both of these florals a sweeter, creamier and, somehow, fresher aspect. Juniper and cypriol, two notes I'm not usually fan of, play nice here, lending a beautiful green tonality to the fragrance, enhancing it to a very realistic bouquet of florals. Drydown becomes powdery due to the orris concrete and warm due to the benzoin. There's an evanescent note of floral that lingers and paired with the sweetness.

I pondered for awhile in going for a full bottle, but it has the same problem as Granada: it's a fragrance that sticks close to the skin and doesn't last as long as it should given its price point and concentration. I'm also not a fan of the powdery orris drydown. I would probably go for a travel size though. The top and middle note were absolutely beautiful and I wish they had stayed longer.

Is it really taking you to an island...?
This fragrance promises to transport you to a Brazilian island, but I find it very overpowering in the floral and honey notes, which takes away from the milky and creamy notes. When you wear it, the sillage is quite strong at the beginning and perhaps not the best to use in closed environments such as the office, etc.

Radiant Pollen
I’ve tried this on twice now. None of the notes are something I would traditionally like, but I was tempted to try this fragrance because of the reviews.

It is like the sweetest nectar, baked under the sun, caught on air, and eventually stuck to sticky sun-warmed skin. It feels like ovulation hormones, if they had a fragrance.

I am really confused because the notes seem like they should make the fragrance feel dated, or more mature, but it’s just so damn bright I can’t look away. And I definitely can’t stop sniffing.

I like a hay scent and this is giving that but saccharine instead of dry or dirty.

White Flowers and Me - Can This Work Out?
A dear friend gifted me the new Memo fragrance “Ilha do Mel,” which was supposed to be a ‘green’ scent, and I was thrilled because I’m totally into green during springtime. Fresh and herbal green. But reading the ingredients raised big question marks on my forehead. Especially my nemeses Jasmine and Orange Blossom made me recoil inwardly and wrinkle my nose. No, no, no, this is not for me, it can’t be! How could it be, when I usually go for Oud, Cedar, and Tobacco?

But - one should not treat such a valuable gift like a gifted horse, but with respect and gratitude. So I bravely aimed a spray on the back of my left hand, held my breath, and then cautiously approached...

Thousands of very sweet scent molecules invade my olfactory cells, followed by countless floral scent molecules. Anticipating my own outcry, I hold my breath. I do not scream. Huh?

Yes, it is sweet. Very, very sweet indeed. But certainly not overtly honey-sweet, as the name “Ilha do Mel” (= Honey Island) had made me suspicious. Instead, it is fruity sweet, and I find mandarins quite delicious. And I somehow like hyacinths too, as they are the first harbingers of spring when they slowly grow up under silvery colorful paper hats on the windowsill and eventually fill the whole room with a narcotic floral scent. But there is more. There is a lot of green in it - my friend did not overpromise - juicy, fresh green, like the long leaves of the hyacinths and the dark green leaves of the mandarins. Even my spice-sensitive nose cannot really pinpoint the juniper, but perhaps it helps to temper the sweet-floral aspect with its resinous and woody notes.

The flowers are really getting going now: Since flowers are not my area of expertise, I cannot identify them all clearly. It feels more like entering an old-fashioned flower shop where bouquets are still tied by hand. It is this wonderful mélange of green and cool freshness, moisture, and floral sweetness. I can distinctly identify Jasmine and Orange Blossom, but they are not as overpowering as in other fragrances. More noble and refined, perhaps it is due to the Absolute, the more precious raw material. Maybe it is the Broom that adds a fine honey note, and Iris that softens the sharp edges of the scent concert, or perhaps it is Vetiver that is already playing a part.

Slowly, the scent becomes softer and calmer, with gentle vanilla and subtle musk. And me? I am surprised by myself. That I like to wear such a fragrance. Flowers, not at all my usual preference. And yet, this new Memo has something.

Like all Memo fragrances I know, it is very well made. No scent from the Memo collection is like another. Apparently, they do not skimp on good ingredients.

On ‘Aus Liebe zum Duft,’ you can read a ‘poetic’ description of the fragrance. I read it three times and did not really feel addressed.

Quote: “Rays of honey sweetened the jasmine of my awakening. Their sweetness makes me crave musk, the palm fronds sway with your devilish smile...”

More of a word storm than poetry and little concrete description of the scent. But it is not my job to criticize texts.

One does not need to travel mentally or actually to the Brazilian Honey Island to imagine this scent. Today, after many wonderfully sunny days, we had the first rain. Thrushes, Bullfinches, and colleagues chirped and sang as if unleashed. Nature breathed through. Everything smelled fresh and green and juicy and floral-sweet. Honey Island in a Hamburg backyard. Wonderful!

Back to the scent:

Perhaps “Ilha do Mel” is THE fragrance for all flower girls, for young women in spring and for mild summer evenings. But why must one be young for that? My Aunt Lotte was in her late 60s, weighed nearly 100 kilos, and smelled intensely of lily of the valley. So anyone who is not quite so young anymore, but is confident and doesn’t care about the youth craze, can wear this fragrance without any problem. I’m already on board. Not always, but more and more often...

Elven scent.. A Memo masterpiece for the right wearer..
An ultra-feminine fragrance that comes across very softly, almost ethereal and elfin. I envision a small delicate beautiful super feminine fairy. Every time the little fairy flies by, you sense a delicate irresistible scent of flowers and grasses.. So delicate that you would love to chase after her scent trail to smell it again..

The fragrance is very floral and very classic but not outdated. It has a slight sharpness that never becomes piercing or unpleasant. The scent simply smells super well-groomed and extremely elegant.. It has a classic touch, like many Chanel fragrances.. However, in my opinion, it is much more interesting, nobler, and rounder than any Chanel fragrance.. (I am not a fan of Chanel fragrances, but that is beside the point). The scent is hyper light and super elegant, and although it is marketed as unisex, to my nose, this fragrance is really only for women. Of course, in the end, it is up to everyone themselves, but it hardly gets more feminine than this..

To my nose, the fragrance starts with a lot of mandarin and a super abundance of hyacinth. A scent direction that I have never smelled before.. However, the fragrance is quiet and reserved from the very beginning. One should therefore expect the opposite of a beast mode. When the scent settles down, a beautiful jasmine note emerges. Slowly, a slightly noticeable orange blossom also joins in. Jasmine is only bearable for me in Memo fragrances because Memo is unbeatable when it comes to jasmine.. The fragrance becomes increasingly feminine and, minute by minute, more elegant, eventually appearing almost porous. By the time a light iris note comes to the forefront, the fragrance reaches its peak in terms of femininity and elegance..

Before the fragrance completely retreats, the vetiver, which has been playing a background role all along, becomes more pronounced..

Overall, a hyper-feminine floral fragrance that is extremely elegant and lightly soapy. In my opinion, this scent must be worn well.. The fragrance is reserved and never comes across as intrusive..

The fragrance is only for people who like soft scents or are looking for something very summery. A scent for personal well-being.. However, if you appreciate the fragrance in its uniqueness and its incredible elegance, you probably won't mind that it is not beast mode, and you can simply spray more if you prefer a more pronounced sillage.. The fragrance has a bit of addictive potential for me, which surprises me because it actually doesn't align with my preferred direction... Memo has always had a magical effect on me..

Realistic honeyed white florals. A subtle hint of green from the juniper and cypriol adds a touch of elegance. Very lovely floral frag.

There's honey, of course, but there's a freshly showered soapiness to it as well - the juniper? White floral notes of jasmine and orange blossom.

The KN with juniper isn't really my thing. But the jasmine is enchanting. With iris powder on vanilla-musk fluff. Elegant, creamy, summery.

One of the top jasmine scents, if not the best. Jasmine is accompanied by other flowers. It smells like a flower shop, in a good way!
