Subtle, smoky and charred woods which drydown soft and comfy
I'm not a woody fragrance girl, so Inverness was a kind of filler fragrance for my custom discovery set, although I was curious about the maté note and how it would interact with the rest of the very obvious woody notes.
Just like Sherwood, Inverness is a more palatable version and interpretation of a woody fragrance. It's got a very beautiful beginning. There's a subtle maté note that offers a tinge of sophistication, although I couldn't pinpoint exactly where it was playing itself out. Woods smell natural at first, but start to feel smoky, slightly charred and smoldering, which was interesting to smell it as it developped on my skin. It sometimes did border on smelling like pencil shavings, but never went over there completely, which is something I truly appreciated. Drydown was interestingly sweet, comfy, cozy and creamy, not unlike You Doux. There was also a slightly powdery aspect. The drydown did feel a bit more feminine than the top and the middle of the fragrance.
I won't be going for a full bottle since I'm not a woody fragrance girl, but I do have to say Memo Paris definitely has something going on here. The drydown was particularly beautiful with its soft, comfy, creamy and slightly powdery vibe. If I was more of a woody type of fragrance, I might have gone for a full bottle just like Sherwood!
