The cleanest and most elegant scumbag in the whole forest
Stags
For me, the stag has always been the epitome of the noble and proud animal. It radiates strength and masculinity at the same time, but is just as sublime and wise. The great leader that the herd follows without hesitation and feels safe because it also has this soft and beautiful side.
The lion is said to be the king of beasts, strong, wild and fearsome. In reality, however, he is actually the laziest of all and always takes the best for himself. And the way he treats his wife(s)... well, let's leave that alone. But the stag... Noble!
Pana Dora
I naturally became aware of Pana Dora through the Hirsch flacons. To get ahead of the game: Flacon design 10/10! Hirsch flacon, Swedish house... that can only be damn good!
After a few years in the fragrance game, I've found my niche and I'm very happy about it. If only because I no longer have to chase after all the latest hype and test my way through countless types of fragrance. I like it classic, masculine, with lots of leather, soap etc etc. Definitely everything but sweet and nice!
And that's exactly what I was hoping for from these graceful deer bottles!
And first of all...
... I was disappointed.
Don't get me wrong, they are all high-quality fragrances and certainly just right for a very large audience.
But definitely too nice for me. It was somehow not what I associated with a Swedish stag. So for now, Pana Dora is off the list and out of my head.
Grand Musk
So for a long time, Pana Dora was off the table for me. Until I stumbled across a video about "shelf warmers". And that's when the Grand Musk was introduced. "The only silver stag", "Animal Musk", "Gentlemen"... That was enough for me, I had to test it again!
A little later, the time had come (once again by chance) and I was able to test it...
... And was immediately blown away!
It was exactly what I had originally imagined and associated with. The mighty and proud stag in all its glory!
What does it smell like?
Immediately after spraying it on, you notice an animalistic, spicy musky note. For many it seems very animalic, but for me it is just right and very pleasant. This animalic quality diminishes somewhat after a while, but remains throughout the fragrance. I don't even want to break it down into all the individual notes (I'm too amateurish for that anyway), but rather describe it as a total work of art:
It is definitely very classic and creamy, almost boozy, but more like a good brandy. The blend of powdery white musk and animalic musk results in a scent that is simultaneously clean and floral, but also dirty and wicked. All in all, definitely sensual! And above all, it doesn't feel like too much of any one part.
Notes that I definitely notice (besides the musk) are rose and amber. I think it will be the amber that unfolds its warm and slightly sweet note here. The rose makes it classic and the clove is also undeniable in the interplay. In general, I could also interpret all of the other notes listed, but I find the ones I have mentioned here to be the most decisive for me. Leather is just as clearly perceptible to me later on and complements the animal musk perfectly.
In summary:
Very elegant, creamy and liqueur-like. Clean and dirty at the same time and above all: sensual!
Animalic meets powdery musk and leather, amber and rose blend wonderfully.
A fragrance that I want to sniff again and again, that somehow makes me addicted.
Longevity/ Silage:
Top... Just right, in my opinion. I've just been wearing it for about 9 hours, I can still clearly feel it, but it doesn't bother me. Quite the opposite. 3 sprays are absolutely enough to clearly (positively) attract my girlfriend's attention 3 hours after spraying it on outside at a distance of 2 meters.
Price / performance:
100 ml, beautiful bottle, absolutely high quality and a very unique DNA. For me, absolutely worth the money.
For whom?
I understand that such a DNA can offend. As I said, it is very classic and special. Even if the animalism is just right for me, I understand that it is not the absolute everybody's darling and can be too special for many. But that's what makes him and the niche so special. It's just not nice! Anyone who wears this stag wants exactly what they get here. It's more like the classic 30+ wearer. But perhaps on that special lady, on whom it would probably smell wonderful too.
If this type of fragrance appeals to you, give it a try!
Conclusion:
This fragrance is exactly what I associate with a stag. It is noble, graceful, animalistic, strong and beautiful. The image of the proud stag in a hazy forest clearing comes to mind if I had to describe it. An absolute "under the radar" fragrance and for me the best Pana Dora to date!
Thanks for reading!
