Oud Roses with Apple Flavor
So, here comes my second Dua fragrance, which I was able to test thanks to a lovely and cat-loving perfumer (hm… that pretty much applies to everyone here :D).
Speechless… Whether the fragrance is so wonderful that it leaves one speechless? Of course, it could also mean that one should keep quiet (to enjoy the scent, for example)… :D
Anyway, oud and incense sound like a rather intense and somewhat heavy fragrance, but since the weather is currently not summery at all (my throat is even a bit scratchy…), I can dare to test it without fearing that the scent will suffocate me!...
It says here that floral notes are also included, but I don’t really perceive them (except for the rose, of course). I find that oud and rose are the most intense fragrance notes from start to finish, with the oud becoming stronger all the time.
Incense does come in later, but it is very faint. Even later, you can still smell the apples quite well, which lighten the fragrance with a nice, fruity note.
Only after one to two hours in the base do the fruity notes fade back into the background. The oud is quite strong in the base. Even though it should become a bit softer later, I find it somewhat overbearing. The fragrance is not very sweet, but it still comes across as quite pleasant.
The longevity is damn good. From morning until late at night, it is noticeable on the sprayed area and only gradually disappears the next morning.
Anyway, the bottle is rectangular with a tall cylindrical cap. On the front, you see a lady holding a finger to her sensual lips, signaling that one should keep quiet… um, I mean that one should be silent! The name of the fragrance is displayed both on the front and on the side. The bottle is okay, but for a precise assessment, I would probably need to hold it myself.
So… the fragrance is already a bit seductive, but: One should like oud to find pleasure in the scent. Because even though the oud initially appears soft (and is airier than usual due to the incense), it is still quite intense and later becomes very present. Only much later in the base does the oud become a bit softer again.
Hmm… Seduction with roses, oud, and… apple?… one has to think directly of Adam and Eve, right? Well, actually it was a snake that tempted them to nibble on the forbidden fruit, after which both were expelled from paradise.
However, with this fragrance, it’s not quite as drastic, as only those who do not like oud will be driven away. Those who have no problem with agarwood can even be seduced (which nicely shows that a fragrance doesn’t always have to smell very sweet to be well-received), as the scent-bearing lady can appear sexy and like a crisp apple… so tempting to bite into and… argh, I’ll be quiet now!).
In any case, Speechless is a nice fragrance that one could check out. I wouldn’t necessarily say that it’s an everyday scent and instead fits more for going out. Not suitable for summer, it could still be used in spring, but I find it best suited for autumn.
Could be worth a try. For me, there are nicer fragrances, but I also don’t like very intense oud, so…

The Fragrance:
The fragrance starts with slightly sour-smelling (but still beautifully fragrant) roses, combined with soft oud. A little later, you can smell light fruity notes, although they are more in the background. These are initially weak, but they unfold more and more, and eventually an apple comes to the forefront, giving the impression that you have cut it in half. It says here that floral notes are also included, but I don’t really perceive them (except for the rose, of course). The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is already above average with just a few drops, and with the right application, it is certainly quite strong and thus noticeable. The longevity is damn good. From morning until late at night, it is noticeable on the sprayed area and only gradually disappears the next morning.
The Bottle:
Okay, I know (by now) that the bottles from Dua are indeed of higher quality than I initially thought, but if I still say that they look somewhat similar to the bottles of the Demeter fragrances in the photos, the one from whom I got the sample will surely freak out and scratch me more brutally than my cat does (you perfumers are just as crazy as cats, yes, all of you…! :D)Anyway, the bottle is rectangular with a tall cylindrical cap.
