Uranium Egoiste
Dear friends of Dua's,
today we are talking about a fragrance that is almost unreviewed here, for which I would like to provide you with a review. Dua's YoungEgo (YE) is the recreation of Platinum Egoiste (PE) by Chanel, which I quite like, but in terms of performance, it is too weak.
Since I wanted to add a barbershop scent in the direction of "freshly showered" to my collection, but no ordinary shower gel scent was considered, I thought that a more powerful version of PE would be advisable.
Let's get to the fragrance:
In my opinion, Dua has done better work before. While there are parallels between PE and Dua's YE, I cannot speak of a strong similarity here. The opening of YE is, unfortunately, uneven, as is often the case with Dua. It carries the familiar oily note along with an indefinable ammoniac note for me. The Petitgrain from the original is unfortunately completely missing. What a pity, as it is in combination with the metallic lavender that the most beautiful note in the original lies. Otherwise, a slightly toned-down version of the original emerges, but that's it. So far, nothing special.
However, what can be noted is both the longevity and the sillage. The fragrance lasted at least 10 hours on me, sometimes even up to 14 hours. It lingers on clothing for days. From platinum to uranium, so to speak!
The sillage is also quite strong. The scent does not fill banquet halls, but it is clearly perceptible around you even in smaller amounts. For example, 6 sprays (and not much comes out of the spray head) filled a small car after more than two hours, so you could immediately perceive the scent when opening the trunk. That’s quite impressive for a fresh scent! I would place the sillage just above Kirké, but still below Bentley for Men Intense.
The bottles are, as usual, subpar for the price; random drugstore fragrances fare better.
Can I recommend YoungEgo? Yes, for anyone who loves PE by Chanel and wants to layer it due to lack of performance.
Everyone else should rather opt for alternatives like At the Barber's by Maison Margiela, as you will get more out of that.
As always, thank you for reading!
