Seeking Gentle, Prominent Oud Recommendations

Seeking Gentle, Prominent Oud Recommendations 1

Hi everyone,
I'm venturing into the world of oud perfumes and could really use some guidance! I absolutely love fragrances, but every time I've tried to sample an oud scent, I've found it to be very masculine and too strong for my taste. It often feels quite overpowering.
However, I'm still incredibly keen to try a good oud perfume. I'm hoping to find something where oud is a prominent note, but it's not overwhelming or excessively strong. I want to experience what people love about oud, but in a more wearable way, especially if it leans less traditionally masculine.
I'm open to all recommendations, including Arab perfumes.
A couple of fragrances I've been considering, based on what I've read, are:
[ul]
[li]Armani Privé Rose d'Arabie[/li]
[li]Maison Francis Kurkdjian (MFK) Oud Silk Mood / Oud Satin Mood [/li]
[/ul]
I'm particularly curious to know if these fit what I'm looking for. Also, has anyone tried Swiss Arabian Sehr Al Sheila? How does it compare in terms of oud prominence and wearability?
Any suggestions for an "introductory" oud that still clearly showcases the note, but in a softer, perhaps more feminine or universally appealing way, would be amazing!
Thanks in advance for your help!

Loudo

Maybe Opus XV - King Blue for something more advanced

Do try "Through The Forest | d'Annam" for a smooth, gentle oud. I also recommend Montri .

I'm the same - overpowering super strong animalic oud is not my thing, however I love gentle warm ouds. I'd recommend Far Away Splendoria, Aoud Jasmine, "Goddess / Oudhess (Perfume) | Lush / Cosmetics To Go", Oud Grandeur, Violet & Amber Absolu, Black Sugar, Olfactive Facet 707 - Oud & Patchouly and My Euphoria.

I just got my bottle of Doric Oud and I absolutely adore it! I think this one would also be exactly what you're looking for. Oud is a prominent note in it, however it's not overpowering at all, and also this fragrance has a moderate sillage instead of being an aggressive beast mode thing. Instead of being overly animalic it's very woody and only a slightly smoky but not overpowering smoky like those several generic trendy oud niche fragrances. The fragrance smells very unique and natural, like a walk in a dense dark forest. One of the most wearable ouds I have ever smelled. Middleshade is a small Scottish indie company of handmade fragrances and they use ingredients from their own farm and distill them locally. Definitely highly recommended based on this experience!

How about Santal Royal Eau de Parfum ? Oud paired with rose. I love it on myself but equally gorgeous on men. Also Rose Nacrée du Désert.

Try to sample Oud Eau de Parfum and/or Oud & Spice.

I found Aaron Terence Hughes fragrances a great starting point for oud fragrances as he manages to blend them masterfully where you can smell it but it is not totally in your face.

A good one imo could be Forbidden

You can tell there is oud there but it is not the main focus of the scent as is with many of his fragrances

Onyx

Is another which is a rose oud fragrance that really smells like a real rose, stem and all.

You said you don’t mind Middle Eastern smelling fragrance, well I would say his Unicorn could fit that category but definitely try the 10ml first if you can as it is expensive. It is very spicy for the most part but the dry down has a beautiful sweet fruity smell to it.

He has many more fragrances with oud in them. He also has test results on his site to prove that it is indeed real oud not synthetic like someone stated on the page for Unicorn

I would paste a photo but his site has nothing on it at the moment due to them doing a restock later tonight.

My SOTN just reminded me of this post which is Agar Royal

It definitely has a prominent woody earthy oud smell to it but is also surrounded by lovely soft florals and a hint of light sweetness to it maybe from the mandarin

also I can now post the image provided on ATH website that his oud is real. This is from his Unicorn fragrance.
