Looking for specific tobacco scent.

My husband wants a cologne that smells like Captain Black cigars, but every source I’ve tried so far instantly says Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille when it smells nothing like the cigars, and for that matter doesn’t even have detectable tobacco notes. The followup recommendations I’ve been able sample are the same problem.

At this point I’m just trying to find something that is tobacco, smoke, chocolate (maybe leather on drydown of longevity), but every result when searching by notes has at least a dozen other unrelated notes. At my wit’s end at this point and would really appreciate any help. 

Try Tabac 28 and Cuban Tobacco. Those are the closest to me as a cigar smoker to actual cigar smell, though I’m unfamiliar with the specific Captain Black brand

I have no idea what Captain Black tobacco smells like since I don't even smoke but I love tobacco notes, and here are some that I tried with a prominent tobacco note:

The strongest lit tobacco scent I tried is Akro Smoke

My favorite boozy tobacco smell is Strangers Parfumerie Cigar Rum (2017) and Cigar Rum (2024)

The absolute best tobacco scent for me is Midnight Toker (2025) by Heretic; but it's clove tobacco. Still I consider it to be the highest quality tobacco note that is very noticeable

Alkemia Kabarett is a grand performance of cigar tobacco, leather, wood, coffee, and wine (it's an oil-based perfume, though, fyi)

OM Parfum Lust is a very smoky whiskey and tobacco scent but it has a cherry note in it, so I'm not sure it would fit your request

Toskovat' Forlorn Ambers and Black Reigns is also a tobacco-whiskey scent at core

I don't know anything about tobacco other than smoking it (yeah, bad habit, I know) but maybe this video helps. Hope you won't get these weird subtitles, they are absolutely the worst 'phonetic directed' subtitles....

It's very hard to find a "solinote" on tobacco, even if tabacco absolute exists. Usually tobacco is part of blends that involve leather (saffron), boozy notes, gourmand notes as vanille, chocolate, honey, coffee, smoke accords or woody accords.

I don't know of a single note "tobacco" fragrance that have a realistic smell of cigar to be honest. Maybe your husband can lean to "tobacco + something else" and we can help more.

The best straight tobacco I've smelled are Tabac 28 and Habanos

Ytzma ,dry and clean,fresh tobacco with fruity and leather notes.

No idea about Captain Black, but 2 gorgeous tobacco scents are Cafe Tabac and Royal Tobacco, 2 extremely nice scents, but mind though thez are not for the faint of heart, especially Royal tobacco, you gotta like that licorice kick otherwise you would be sorry
