Looking for dusty, old house/castle scents

I have always loved a dust/ash note, and i really like the idea of smelling haunted or ancient.

I'm talking old haunted house, an attic no one has entered in a long time, the empty corridors of a mansion or wherever your imagination takes you.

I know it'll be a suggestion and i have tried Moth but unfortunately all tho i loved the sent the honey was just to heavy and sweet for me

I have L'orpheline that slightly resembles dust but i would lovee any suggestions  

Winchester Mystery House could work for you, The Exorcist as well, Moth Milk had a bit of the vibe, Dustsceawung definitely nails that.

I have few others in mind, but those are most "what if a ghost was living in your house and you could feel it", the ones I suggested are more dusty-old house!

Melograno Eau de Cologne don't mind the listed notes, many find those misleading. It's not fruity despite the listed pomegranate and I get a very ancient vibe from it.

And ofcourse there is Mitsouko Eau de Parfum a mystical beauty, but the ancient vibe is sort of tender (to my nose). Only kind and wise ghosts wil haunt you .

I find Shalimar Eau de Parfum and most of the flankers like Shalimar L'Essence to be very dusty!

Dark Tales King's Jester smells like an inside of a medieval castle to me 😀

@WolfHunter i'll for sure put it on my wish list, i would love to try it out, it would be a great occasion to try some more imaginary authors fragrances, some concept from them sound really interesting

a bit of an expensive one, but Diaghilev Parfum’s opening always reminded me of the aroma in my late great-grandparents’ house. while i can’t remember the drydown unfortunately, i think the opening is enough for me to recommend that.

i’d also like to shout out Somebody Wood Eau de Parfum for smelling like an old, wooden chest that no one’s touched in a century. maybe that’ll be something to check out as well… and something that won’t absolutely break the bank.

Romance Noire had a very pronounced dust note to me, & was overall a very melancholic, almost overbearingly sad fragrance. Like entering the house of an elderly relative who had just passed in hospice, & all their flowers have withered & lie under a layer of dust.

Perhaps try 1826 by Histories D' Parfum. I recently picked it up at a swap. We are still getting acquainted, but I find it has a dusty, ashy element with a touch of warmth.

Bat (2020) , Tempo, and Bloody Wood all smell like musty basements of old houses to me. Same with "St. Louis Cemetery #1 | Alkemia". You might also like Warm Bulb. Very liminal space-y, and I think it might even have a dust accord!

Somebody Wood Eau de Parfum leans more into dry woods and quiet emptiness, like walking through an abandoned attic or silent corridor where old furniture still holds its scent. Funerie; they describe it as "challenging" on the website, and I expected to get something like foot funk mushroom stink, but it's just earthy so I'm guessing they consider the oud and incense the most challenging part of it. It's actually how I imagine the Addams' house smells.

Have you ever tried Reliqvia ? It is supposed to rappresent a relic, but I can tell you it smells truly ancient and untouched. The only thing that might not be of what you're looking for is the note of incense which is part of the smell. But for my opinion it is worth a try it for what you lookig for

Whenever I smell this I get the impression of an old wooden house in a deep, dark, ancient woodland, dripping wet with autumn rain. It's musty; the damp is in the wood and it is rotting. It's not the smell of stone, as would be present in a castle or crypte, but more that of a mansion that has long ago been abandoned and fallen in to disrepair. As a child I used to play in such a place and this scent takes me back there. Walls covered in damp and black mould, rain pouring through the roof, floorboards rotten. All great fun for a twelve year old.

Musc des Sables Kind of gave me that vibe, also perhaps Dead Air ?

Temple Noir feels like I'm walking through an old abandoned temple ruins somewhere time forgot.
