Subtle, Safe & Pleasant

I do enjoy Phlur's avant garde titles and play on words. Father Figure is a big title for a fig fragrance. Phlur is technically a "clean" brand, but this fragrance performs decently. Go FIGure. It is currently 45 degrees where I'm located, and in these temperatures I find the fragrance to be subtle, safe and pleasant. I have a sneaking suspicion that this is a warm weather performer. We shall see as we approach the Spring and Summer months.

Father Figure broke the mold for me, as I do not gravitate towards fig fragrances. How is it different? Sparkling white florals, sandalwood and vanilla. This beautiful combination makes it both easy and tempting to wear. Overall, Father Figure is a very clean, floral and aromatic take on fig. I imagine this would do wonders layered with vanilla or something deeper, but lovely on its own.

Easy to wear, beautiful choice

While I lived in Hawaii, this perfume performed wonderfully. It came across as a very clean, fresh, slightly-but-not-too-much sweetness that felt like you were being hugged. The initial spray was very gentle, and the dry down on me was like an incredible powdery musk. Very much your skin but better. At this point I already loved it.

Now that I no longer live in my hometown I've noticed some differences in this perfume's performance. The projection for me has increased, the longevity and wear stays on my skin longer, between 5-7 hours on a typical day. Of course it always begins as a very delicate fig at the forefront, drying into a sandalwood-y sweetness throughout the day. It is a very clean, creamy, gentle type of perfume I find myself reaching for frequently. This is such an easy fragrance to lean back on if you aren't sure what you want to use! Much of my bottle is already gone, and I miss her already.

Lovely if simple

Father Figure is a somewhat 'basic' fig in that it's not very deep and I don't get a ton of the other notes other than a minor amount of jasmine. But it is very easy to wear and reapply without fear of giving myself a headache, and has pretty decent longevity. Not QUITE the entire day, but will layer well with others if I have something else in my travel bag.

It's certainly not my 'fancy date night fig,' but as a fig lover it has found its place in my collection.

a feminine spin on a masculine scent

this perfume was one of my first favorites. it brings me nostalgia like Missing Person was supposed to. I like how clean it smells, kind of like b&bw hand soap from my childhood (but in a good way). if you like to wear masculine scents but don't actually want cologne, this is a great option!
my only complaint with Father Figure is that it doesn't project like I wish it would, and it doesn't last very long. I guess that's because Phlur is a generally pretty cheap house... if they made a matching body spray that I could carry around for a refresh, then this would become my signature scent yesterday

Perfect for summer

Despite the masculine connotations of its name, anyone can wear this. I would argue that anyone over thirty should wear this, as it's one of Phlur's more mature offerings; The plush, almost wine-reminiscent fig notes pair very well with sandalwood to create something fresh and alluring. This has become my signature summer scent.
