Classic Phlur
This is overall a really pretty scent. I received it as a sample with my last order and I do really like it.
I think as summer approaches this was a really smart creation; it is a humid and heavy tropical scent in that it is sticky sweet, a little spicy, and a little sour/bitter form the citrus. I will say that it does have that classic Phlur muskiness to it, which I do like (I am a Missing Person hater, so this is

I don't really know if I've ever smelled anything similar, I think if you've smelled Pavlova by Parfums de Nicolai, it has that same sticky juicy sweetness from the fruit, this is just deeper instead of a fluffy vanilla base. It has a really pretty almost syrupy orange note, but not orange floral, like sticky juice from a very rip orange in the height of summer.

The only issue for me is that i really dislike the gold bottle lol, but that is a totally personal creative choice on my part!

Another sweet floral without identity
Jasmine, orange blossom, vanilla and a touch of pear. Does that sound familiar to you? It definitely does to me. These are the notes that I mostly smell in Golden Rule, and they make it a generic, typical 2020s fragrance. Kinda sweet, kinda like fabric softener, if you know what I mean.
I agree with the voting on here that it's in the same vein as Prada Paradoxe, but I like Paradoxe better. Armani My Way is another predecessor of it. There are so many of these sugary sweet white florals on the market at the moment and this just doesn't stand out. It's not warm enough to really feel golden, and while it feels rather clean, it's not smooth and fresh enough to be on top in that category.
Like many fragrances, this does get a little warmer and better in the drydown, but at that point it's too late to win me over.

I hoped for more mandarin and especially benzoin, maybe even coconut milk. These notes make the scent sound more unique, especially in combination with the golden bottle. But they're barely there.

Phlur might just not be the brand for me. I really liked Missing Person, so I tried Mood Ring, Strawberry Letter and now Golden Rule. They're all fine, but also have an artifical body spray vibe that makes me not want to buy them. I might still try some more Phlur scents, but I don't expect them to be outstanding.

Tropical/Floral Gourmand
My girlfriend got this for me as a Valentine's gift and it's been in my rotation lately. It's one of those fragrances where it's hard to place exactly which note goes into everything you're smelling, but it's fine because the end result is so nice. The coconut milk and citrus notes are doing a bit of heavy lifting here, but it isn't stereotypically citrus; It's kind of adjacent to a smoothie, like something you could imagine drinking at a beach resort.

Tropical, creamy vanilla with a generic sweet feminine profile.
This opens with a burst of super sweet juicy orange and pear with Jasmine announcing itself. There’s an immediate pang of familiarity, it’s a bit like Prada Paradoxe in its dry down (minus the ambroxan) and the other super sweet, feminine fragrances of the 2020s. After 5-10mins it settles to become its own perfume. The sweetness eases slightly, the orange flower water is more delicate on your nose than the bergamot that is used in other perfumes with a similar profile, and then the coconut milk starts to gently come through. This isn’t overly coconutty, there’s just enough in here to give it a velvety, tropical edge. My nose doesn’t pick up any pink pepper in this accord at all. Maybe a tiny hint of spice, but maybe my nostrils are reaching here lol!

In the dry down, I’m getting what I now think is the Phlur DNA that’s in Missing Person and Vanilla Skin with the benzoin and sandalwood. It makes for a slightly creamy, sweet tropical vanilla but it’s gentle with a warm comforting, ambery base. An interesting observation, the morning after sampling this, I woke up and smelt my arm where I sprayed Golden Rule and it smells exactly like Missing Person.

I think to the general public, they might smell this and asked you if you’re wearing Paradoxe. It’s got that vibe. But it’s more sensual, creamy and tropical compared to Paradoxe’s brightness. To a more trained nose it’s a different perfume. However, if like me, you enjoy Paradoxe on other people but can’t wear it yourself due to nausea inducing headaches, then Golden Rule might work for you. I think it’s safe enough for shared office wear on a sunny day. I’ve had this on all day and there’s been zero headaches. If you’re already a fan of Vanilla Skin and fancy a sweet tropical version, without the musk, for the summer, then this might be perfect for you. If you dislike super sweet perfumes, then you’ll likely dislike this.

Collection Status
this was a sample from a Phlur discovery set. It’s a nice fragrance, but not my thing and gives me body spray vibes, so I really think it’s not worth the money when you might get the same vibe from a B&BW.

Generic?
2/27/25

Smelled this in store on my arm since I was curious about the different packaging and I'm a fan of Phlur. I agree with other comments online saying this is common and designer. Smells perfumy like the dozens of other florals on the market. It might be more affordable, and that's a plus, but it's nothing special. It's very generic and pleasant to my nose. Fruity, sweet, and a little warmth/vanilla maybe.

Reminds me of fresh laundry, particularly the yellow Lenor's scent. Floral, slightly tropical vanilla. A little nauseating over time.

Such a great summer scent. The jasmine, orange, and pear are so nice together. I don’t get much vanilla.

SO similar to Atlas Garden by YSL, which smells like a yummy North African dessert. Beautiful! One of my fav scent from Phlur.

Very sweet, a little tropical. Similar to Prada paradoxe but much less complex. It’s a little obnoxious honestly

Muddled sweet notes with no one note standing out and smells overly synthetic and slightly similar to other offerings from the brand

a warm, velvety wood scent with a hint of soapy O-flowers and bittersweet citrus peels "enriches"
I find it rather herbal and very mild after DD

Very heavy, smells like what hits you when you walk into a branch of a big perfume chain.
