Vanilla Skin Phlur 2023 Hair & Body Mist

Today at work, I walked into my office and I got hit with an incredible enveloping smell of vanilla. My coworker who shares the office with me told me this was the fragrance she was wearing, she also graciously shared some with me. I already had on a “skin scent” that was starting to fade, so it’s possible that the layering affected the scent slightly on me.

On my coworker, this actually smelled a bit more like chocolate than vanilla and it was more rich than powdery. On me, I feel like this turned powdery and peppery early on in the wear, probably up to three hours. Seven hours after my initial spray, with no reapplying, I really just smell powdery vanilla. This vaguely reminds me of the first Eilish fragrance by Billie Eilish, but less floral. They both have a spice element, but Eilish it more of a cinnamon spice and Vanilla Skin is more of a peppery spice.

I do think the price is a lot for a body mist, but it makes me curious to try the EDP to see if that’s worth it. I will definitely keep an eye out for when it goes on sale though. It is surprisingly strong and travels far. My office smelled like it for quite a few hours. I also think it would be fantastic for layering.

I bought this with the assumption that it would be the warm, typical cozy vanilla scent but boy was I wrong. The smell is pungent, most noticeable the pepper scent. Not a big fan of this one. It almost smells like burnt caramel with a mix of old spices. Honestly, the other notes are so overwhelming it makes the vanilla aspect so faint. The price for this is not too bad, but the packaging is a bit of an inconvenience for me as the lid keeps popping off.

Smelled this months ago in the mall when I tried it on my arm. Couldn't stop smelling the peppery spiced opening on my wrist. I got the body mist and it last a fair amount of time on my skin. Great for layering with other gourmands, with a surprising sophisticated scent.

1/7/26 EDIT: Been using this one nonstop for the winter. It's very peppery and makes me sneeze when spraying it all over, but I love it. I have nothing like it. As a body mist, I like it plenty and don't see myself getting the perfume when they smell exactly the same. I trust Phlur and the performance of the mist is top notch for what it is.

I feel like such a basic bitch, but gosh, this is yummy. Warm vanilla with just enough peppery spice to make it interesting. While the projection does fade, it actually last quite a long time close to the skin.

In the store, I actually liked some quality of the body mist more than the perfume -- it felt subtler, not in strength but in tone? -- but I got a small sample of the latter to try and compare. I imagine one could also layer.

This is such a lovely vanilla. It’s very sweet, a little bit sugary, but quite mellow and it’s not overpowering at all. I love spraying it on my clothes and in my hair, it’s actually pretty soft. I’ve also been layering it with my Eau Duelle EDP which is also an amazing combination as they share similar notes.

I’m not the biggest fan of the apple in the opening notes, but rubbing my wrists together tends to dissipate it so I don’t really care. The pink pepper is really lovely and compliments the vanilla beautifully.

Longevity is about 3.5-4 hours, which is pretty normal for a body mist but I keep a smaller bottle on hand to apply throughout the day. I’ll probably try out the parfum version at some point as the body mist hasn’t let me down.
