Going out/ date night fragrance
When I think about Ralph Lauren fragrances I usually think about the World of Polo Line for their sporty fragrances but I really enjoy this Ralph's Club NY.

I really like the blackcurrent note on this one, making it for me a nice fresh and fruity fragrance while staying sweat and creamy.

The first time I wore it, I didn't think people around me would notice it, but I received a lot of compliments, far more than when I wear niche perfumes.

I would recommend this one for men who are looking for a going out/date fragrance that will be noticed while staying subtle. In my opinion the sillage is very great on this one but without being too agressive for anyone.

My girlfriend also really enjoys and would even wear it herself.

I highly recommend taking a look at this one if you are currently looking for a designer fragrance.

The Dumbest of Dumb Reaches
Everything about this fragrance is good. It smells good. It presents some depth over time. Performance is good. Sillage is good. Hell, even the price is pretty good. You could probably make it work year round. The dumbest of dumb reach type fragrances.

Summed up more positively everything about this fragrance is well above average, not mind blowing, but without many glaring flaws. I don't think you can say that about a lot of new fragrances these days. The worst thing the snootiest collector could possibly say about it is that its DNA is a bit boring but even then I feel the blackcurrant found throughout elevates it higher than most freshies on the market.

It's not here to reinvent the wheel, but even to the untrained nose of a newbie (like me) in 2025's Designer mass appeal arms race (up against similar recent green freshies like Boss Bottled Bold Citrus and Paradigme), Ralph's Club New York is the clear winner by a country mile.

For YSL Myself dna fans
This gives me YSL Myself EDP + Le parfum vibes, but on the slightly heavier and greener side. Could be worn during the hotter months, but I can tell that it potentially could be very cloying/headache inducing if over-sprayed in hotter weather since it’s sweeter. Would be nice date frag if you’re looking for something more on the fruity side, but still creamy and darker for special occasions.

The scent starts off fresh/fruity with the citrus. This goes away at about 45 minutes in and then you get more of the black currant and the florals coming through. At about an hour and a half your left with more woody/moss with the black currant and florals still lingering. Drydown for me Im getting mostly the mossy and fir elements at about 2 hours in and the vanilla is lingering in there, but can be hard to detect over the moss and green notes.

The black currant is what sets itself apart from the Myself line. Gives it this slightly edgier, darker smell vs the brighter ysl myself. Not sure I’d pay full retail for this and might be redundant if you own ysl myself edp or leP; but if you want something slightly darker, and with some green aspects it could be an easy reach.

Bubblegum
I got a sample of this from the overbearing ladies at Macy’s, even after I had rejected it off a strip. I ended up buying the new Spicebomb Metallic Musk, which is very much in my lane as a 50 year old. But I decided to give Ralph’s Club New York a try at home and yeah, it’s yet another bubblegum sweet teen bopper scent. Yes on the drydown there is a bit of a switch but that juicy fruit bubblegum forward scent the young men need, lingers way too long. If you want to smell like a fruitcake then this is up your alley.

The better YSL L'Absolu!
I rarely compare fragrances with each other, especially in the context of the current "this is a clone of fragrance XY" hysteria. Here, however, my comparison is more of a qualitative nature, as the YSL L'Absolu was a complete failure this year in my opinion, but - purely in terms of DNA - it is very similar to this release here.

There's this almost fruity, sweet start that has something of pineapple about it. But it's a little greener, a little more balanced (and probably more berry, because my partner immediately guessed that there must be some kind of berry in it, even though she has absolutely no interest in fragrances) and therefore more successful. Yes: it remains quite youthful, but even then it settles down well after 20 minutes at the latest.

The lavender comes in and at the end it mixes with the typical designer sandalwood-vanilla shower gel. And since so many fragrances do this wrong these days, we have to praise the fact that it has pushed the boundaries of the modern synthetic competition and balances these notes so that it always smells high-quality, never unpleasant and certainly not as squeaky as many other fragrances. It is still generic, yes, but positively balanced and with plenty of power.

You have to give it credit for one thing: it's really loud and long-lasting. On my skin, it is clearly perceptible for 8-10 hours, it radiates strongly for a good two hours, then moderately for another hour and a half and at some point, as usual for an EdP, quite close to the skin (I can report this after two days of testing and is of course only a rough estimate).

The bottle has been designed with much more effort than the YSL, and that's why I emphasize again:
this is how, dear creators of YSL, you bring a mass-market, high-quality fragrance with this DNA onto the market and still inspire people!
