Magnolia Infinita - the endless floral scent of the magnolia.
This fragrance from the Signatures of the Sun Collection is intended to underscore the fascinating and fresh allure of the magnolia with lively rays of light, paired with fresh, citrus notes. It lives up to its description in that you receive an enormously floral scent, which initially gets a freshness kick from lemon, bergamot, and orange, and after the first hour is increasingly taken over by the floral heart notes. And it is exactly this floral main character that caused me a bit of confusion.
So if you ask me, this is a pure and classic women's fragrance. While it is unremarkable, it is by no means unpleasant. A sales associate at a perfume store provided me with four samples, including
Green Irish Tweed,
Pegasus,
Ombré Leather Parfum, and of course
Magnolia Infinita. I was familiar with the other fragrances and knew they were men's/unisex fragrances. However, the Acqua di Parma scent was unfamiliar to me, and I applied it blindly without having previously engaged with the fragrance. It came across as extremely feminine, which initially led me to think that the woman had made a mistake and mistakenly handed me a women's perfume. However, the sales lady has been in the perfume business for far too long for such an error to occur. And although the scent is clearly labeled as a women's fragrance here, the manufacturer markets it differently. On the Acqua di Parma website, there is no statement indicating that it is a women's fragrance, and several perfumeries categorize it as unisex in online sales.
When it comes to performance, there is no confusion. Four sprays on the neck last about three hours in self-perception. That is not particularly strong, especially when considering the hefty price in the evaluation.
Because 180ml for over 200 euros feels too expensive and is not justified in any aspect of the scent.
The bottle is quite attractive in itself, but somehow I miss the connection to the fragrance. We are talking about a floral scent from a sun-kissed collection. None of that is reflected in the design of the bottle, and I wonder how black is supposed to fit in.
The fragrance could have everyday potential for women, but its high price nullifies that.
Tea Rose Eau de Toilette would be the better floral everyday alternative, especially when comparing prices (12 euros vs 200 euros). Men, please stay away, this is not a scent for us.
