Breeze yes, but Hawaii?
Autumn is soon upon us, and the weather is becoming less pleasant. How about a little beach walk in Hawaii with a flower necklace around your neck and maybe a drink in hand? Or would you rather just sit in the sand and listen to the waves as the sun slowly sets and colors the sky reddish?
These are the scenarios I think of with the name Hawaiian Breeze, but does the scent deliver what the name promises, more or less?
I experience a fruity start with a lot of blackcurrant (which I wrongly associate automatically with LVEB) that is overshadowed a few minutes later by a citrusy freshness. I can very well imagine a light breeze at this point. But where has the pineapple hidden? Since I'm not a big fan of pineapple, it doesn't bother me.
The floral heart note is said to consist of rose, ylang-ylang, tuberose, and lily of the valley. So we don't find any typical Hawaiian floral representatives like hibiscus or orchid that come to mind first when thinking of the island. Tuberose and rose come through the strongest for me.
The base is rather classic with sandalwood, patchouli, and amber. A safe composition that doesn't hurt anyone but has already been done a thousand times before. Everything is well balanced, and thus no "damp earth" association arises, which often overcomes me with too much patchouli.
Overall, the scent feels rather synthetic to me. The H&S unfortunately cannot really shine but are in the good midfield. So, unfortunately, is the entire scent for me. Since production has apparently been discontinued (according to the information), this makes it even less attractive as a purchase candidate for me (as it is likely associated with higher procurement effort).
