One of the best Areej Le Doré
As I wrote in the title it is truly disappointing to see what's going on with this one..I mean, Areej has many great Parfums in his collection but not all of the individuals has this extraordinary precious ingredients. Let's say the important thing is the formulation, but that's true just for an half of the story: the raw materials makes the perfume, especially in Indie Perfumery.
Paradise Soil is Russian Adam's favourite of the Musk Collection, and trust me that this is not casual. It represent the quintessential oriental Indie perfumery with very generous dose of Deer Musk (skin, grains and whatever) that is sooo present, so full of taste and animalic power, with a gentle gourmand side due to the Tuberose, saffron, Cocoa and this pure magnificent Sandalwood.
It's a jewel with so much good taste from Russian Adam, and truly refined and classy. Who said that this is something like Russian oud with nutty part would probably pass to Mancera, I can't stand the fact that is so underrated.
With Creme de la Creme this is the true Jewel of the new collection, and one of the best Areej Ever.

Forceful
With the release of the Musk collection, Russian Adam left no doubt as to what the theme would be. The series' hyperfocus on musks is well-reflected in Paradise Soil. Right from the start it is obvious that there is a good amount of actual deer musk involved. Its fluffy-animalic character becomes more and more evident in the drydown. But the way this buzzes off the skin makes me think there is some nitromusk going on as well. Florals, cocoa and sandalwood make up the rest of the composition, resulting in a dense creamy backdrop for the musks. Again, no holding back with flavors here. I can imagine that this full-force approach lands well with audiences in favor of bold animalics. Personally, I think that's no way to treat a material as beautiful and delicate as the deer musk pod.

Paradise Soil
The chocolatey vibe in the opening is just a trick. This is all about deer musk. The rest of notes (flowers) just amplfy the main theme. This one might be the first for me to get what real musk is about. Unbelievable for my nose. I get a feeling i'm too simple for this. Soil? I don't get that part. Beautiful.

Of course there's a nice oudy background, just in spot.

Big, earthy white floral with cocoa dampness
Paradise Soil reminds me very much of a certain era in perfume making – not so long ago – when everyone was flipping out about these huge, dirty florid fragrances that were slightly crazy in their construction, smashing together untrammeled Big White (or Yellow) Florals with thick musks and enough nag champa and patchouli to stop a hippie in their tracks. I’m talking stuff like Manoumalia (Le Nez), Daphne (Comme des Garcons), Tubéreuse III (Animale) by Histoires de Parfum, Le Maroc Pour Elle (Tauer), Mauboussin, etc. If you love that style of fragrance, then you’ll love this too. Paradise Soil smells like if tuberose was a dog and that dog rolled around in muck and is begging with his eyes to get back in the house but you just cannot be mad at him.

Huge armfuls of damp jasmine, ylang, and tuberose are mashed into the humid black earth of a tropical jungle onto which all the petals drop, decaying over time to make a rich mass of soil organic content, except that half the soil is made up of pulverized Pan di Stelle cookies. So, florals and chocolate, yes, but not truffled, and despite the saffron, not vegetal. More dry chocolate biscuit in the Montale Chocolate Greedy manner than the melted dark chocolate of Noir de Noir.

My only complaint about Paradise Soil is that the florals – especially the tuberose, which I feel is the pushiest flower in this particular bouquet – become too sharp and insistent in their sweetness, the sort that is so intense that it almost tastes bitter on the back of your tongue. There is a distinct bubblegum tone as well, which when added into all the muddy sweetness going on here tips it into what I call Nights in White Satin territory. Skirting uncomfortably close to the overall sledgehammer effect of Giorgio and Amarige, I can’t really love it past this point. It feels like wearing fur and two inches of panstick foundation on a hot day.

And unfortunately, the underlying oud notes are not strong or woody enough to claw this back into neutral for me. Paradise Soil is somewhat in the vein of Ambre de Coco or the other chocolate-oud explorations of the house (Russian Oud possibly being the most famous), but this is a far sharper, more white floral-forward version. Still – I think fans of the big, satiny floral-incense extravaganzas of the late 1990s would absolutely love this.

This is a very prominent Jasmine-rose perfume, with a pleasant deer musk nuance. This is also quite earthy.

Sweet florals meet deer musk and powdery cacao. Tuberose reigns in the jungle, while oud whispers faintly through a creamy and earthy base.

A unique blend of earthy, woody notes with unexpected floral twists. A fragrant escape to nature.
