Where are the warm spices???
Not at all what I expected. It smells almost…soapy? It’s not spicy or warm at all to me. All I get is musk, sandalwood, and a hint of vetiver. I don’t smell any vanilla, nutmeg, or benzoin. Maybe there’s something wrong with my sample or my nose, but regardless I am not a fan. Its performance isn’t great either as it has minimal sillage and only lasts about 2 hours.

A Dark Mysterious Vanilla
I am usually very skeptical about vanilla scents.... too many vanilla fragrances have that sticky sweetness that I often and gladly forgo in perfumes.
This one is different.... First of all, it is not a normal vanilla scent and secondly.... yes, I admit, the name of the fragrance also caught my attention, but the scent itself has something dark, although not quite grassy (can you say it like that?? “Grassy” You know what I mean... :) )

This is a woody-spicy slightly sweet fragrance that has oriental traits. And then after a few minutes, a mysterious vanilla develops on my skin. It has a secret that it keeps well... this vanilla...
The oriental spiciness, however, always remains present throughout the fragrance's evolution.
I smell oud, even though none is included. Mysterious…. ;)

The longevity of the fragrance is about 6-7 hours. The sillage is a good medium.

Anyone looking for a special and also striking scent that can be spicy and vanilla-like should definitely try this one!!

Yours, Angelina

Off the Beaten Path ...
I got it through a promotion at Birkholz, as the fragrance is apparently being discontinued and leaving the collection.
Black Weed is not a mainstream scent and is not easily categorized. It does not seek to please, but rather to create an atmosphere.

The opening with the unusual top note is strong and very intense, yet it does not come across as intrusive or overwhelming to me. The top note gradually recedes over time, making way for a blend of oud, tobacco, vetiver, and woods. One might expect this combination to be dry, dark, and earthy - but that is not the case for me. Instead, I perceive the fragrance as warm and soft, with a certain spiciness and a slight balsamic touch.

Vanilla and musk remain subtle in the base, yet they resonate consistently, providing additional warmth and roundness without making the scent sweet or creamy. Iris, if present at all, is only very subtly noticeable to me and seems more structural than distinctly recognizable.

Overall, Black Weed is, for me, a clear autumn or winter fragrance that, in my opinion, is not intended for everyday wear.

Unfortunately long overlooked, but luckily found again
Black Weed, one of the lesser-known fragrances from Birkholz. I had also not really paid attention to this scent for a long time and never truly tested it. By now, I have this fragrance in a bottle because I simply like it very much and it totally matches my taste.
If you enjoy spicy, woody scents with a certain something and a beautiful elegance, you should definitely give this fragrance a try.

The scent starts off quite intense.
Spicy impressions, woody notes, and a slightly floral iris push forward and radiate strongly. You definitely have to like this, no question. It’s certainly not for everyone. I love it.
The impressions described above come across as very noble and elegant to me. I think this fragrance is also perfect for a typical "suit wearer".

Over time, the impressions present from the beginning remain quite noticeable. However, it becomes noticeably milder and a tad less spicy. Instead, the fragrance develops a slightly sweet, creamy facet. But I can clearly say that you need not worry about getting a truly sweet scent here. Not at all!
All in all, it is really a great fragrance.

The performance of the fragrance is perfectly fine.
The Classic Collection is sometimes criticized for this. I can understand that. However, this mostly refers to the summery scents of the collection.
It’s also in the nature of things that citrus scents don’t last as long. Nevertheless, it is true that they are somewhat "milder" compared to other fragrances from other brands, yes. The spicy, warm, sweet, or even floral scents from the Classic Collection hold up well!
Black Weed lasts on me for about 6-7 hours depending on the dosage. The sillage is very strong at the beginning and then noticeably decreases over time.

I’m on the federal highway...
... in the middle of the greenery at a gas station. Here, the smell of gasoline hits my nose just as much as the spicy green scent from the adjacent meadow and the wood of the few trees.

Upon applying this fragrance, the first thing that comes to mind is a fresh, green, spicy note. This is complemented by a gasoline accord that brings a hint of woodiness and vanilla. The musk adds a dry, powdery quality. A little later, a light fruity accent emerges.

The longevity and sillage are good.

Here we have a unisex fragrance from the house of Birkholz that is somewhat unique but very wearable. It is definitely not a mainstream scent that should be purchased without testing. Due to its uniqueness, I would recommend wearing this perfume from around the age of twenty-five and up. It is an all-rounder that can be worn year-round. It is suitable for both daytime in the office, at lunch, while shopping, or on a walk, as well as in the evening at a bar, club, disco, or concert.

Anyone who enjoys a fresh green spicy woody scent with vanilla and gasoline will find a good match with this German brand.

There is a clean and powdery kind of cedar musk here, reminded of Bleu De Chanel Parfum but spicier, with benzoin for sweetness and unlisted floral?

Wintry comforting woods, lots of creamy synthetic sandalwood, vanilla. Smelled too similar too often.
Luckily, hardly any oud.

Very balsamic and resinous base with an unpleasant sweetness!
Mild saffron.
Once again, Birkholz fails to impress in the collection!

I would have guessed a saffron-rose-oud combo with a sweet oriental vanilla spice base. Solid, if you're into that scent profile.

Once again an oriental fragrance centered around saffron, with spicy and resinous notes and a musk-wood base: often smelled / solid.
