Dance samba with me

I really like Sol E Samba.
Here I would like to counteract the last bad statements and co. I like this fruity, fresh scent with the green matcha character. Especially on warm days the scent is really good!

The fragrance starts off wonderfully fruity, subtly fresh and slightly green. But it also has a gentle sweetness of fruit. The green touch comes from the matcha accord. I love matcha in general and I'm delighted to smell it in a fragrance again. The matcha note doesn't come across as extremely authentic, but I still really like it.

This mix of matcha and the citrusy notes also lasts a very long time and, in principle, I don't notice a strong progression in the fragrance. The progression is quite linear, which I personally like because I think the impressions from the top note are just great.
A little juniper berry then comes slightly to my nose and otherwise not much more happens.
I can't detect notes like tobacco or leather, for example.

It gains a little "warmth" towards the end, but nothing more. Do I think that's bad?
No! As I just mentioned, I like the top note phase and therefore I am completely in agreement with a fairly linear progression.

The longevity on my skin is around 7-8 hours.
However, the sillage is noticeably weaker. It does not project very strongly. Relatively quickly, the fragrance becomes quite skin-deep.
But there are also moments when it is suddenly around you again after many hours.
However, I have to say that this is only the case when it is really, really warm.
Apparently the warmth does the fragrance a lot of good.

Is the fragrance wearable unisex?
Absolutely!
Sol E Samba works and smells great on both sexes.

Unfortunately disappointing

I had high expectations of SOL E SAMBA, especially at a price above the €100 mark. The name evokes associations of joie de vivre, fire and Brazilian passion - a homage to the vibrant Rio de Janeiro. Unfortunately, the fragrance falls far short of these expectations.

From the very first spray, the composition seems surprisingly flat and is more reminiscent of a cheap drugstore fragrance than a high-quality perfume in the premium segment. The heart note, which normally makes up the soul of a fragrance, remains weak and gives the impression of a rather unsuccessful attempt to create something "exotic".

Unfortunately, SOL E SAMBA is also not convincing in terms of longevity. After around two hours, the fragrance is barely perceptible.

What was meant to be a fragrant trip to Rio feels more like a detour. Unfortunately not a recommendation for me.

Juicy grapefruit explodes from the very first spray - tangy, slightly sweet without ever being sticky. A subtle hint of pepper tickles before a damp, green coolness emerges, reminiscent of wet palm leaves and giving the fragrance that tropical vibe.

Matcha? Not to be found on my skin. Instead, a soft amber finish later overlays the freshness, gently warming the fragrance without smothering the grapefruit vibe.

for me, Sol e Samba is absolutely unisex and perfect for anyone who loves grapefruit or is looking for a fragrance that simply puts them in a good mood.

It remains bright, fresh, modern and accompanies you through the day like a gentle reminder: it's summer.

The unexpected summer surprise

I received the fragrance as a 2ml sample with a Birkholz order.
I didn't think anything else of it and just applied it one morning.
And wow, one of the most beautiful top notes I've ever smelled.
It's not the loud summer fragrance in terms of its lasting power, but it's totally okay for me.
It is light in the air at the beginning and then becomes a little more skin-like, which I find extremely pleasant in midsummer. You notice the scent every now and then. The matcha note with the citrus lingers for a long time until the fragrance fades into a gently woody, drydown.

I find the scent of Verlauf beautiful and, above all, it puts you in a really good mood.
Next to Gritti Pomelo Assoluto, it's my final summer fragrance of 2025.
If you're looking for a unique, lighter summer banger with good staying power, this is the one for you. For me, I perceive the fragrance really well for 6 hours, then it fades slightly but is still perceptible on the skin but only the base. But I think that's perfectly fine.

Another little layering tip: with Uden Overdose the whole thing gets more power, lasts a little better and harmonizes extremely well. If you have both, you can try it out. ^^

Sol e Samba - the scent of Brazil in a bottle

ol e Samba by Birkholz is a real experience for me. The vibe of Brazil has really been captured perfectly here. The fragrance is fruity and fresh, immediately puts you in a good mood and at the same time has an interesting depth that makes it so special.

From the very first spray, you notice how the tangy yuzu and juicy grapefruit lift the mood. It smells like sunshine, like summer, like lightness. Not an artificial fruit cocktail but really naturally clear and high-quality. It is precisely this top note that makes it an absolute feel-good fragrance for warm days for me.

Then the matcha comes through. Earthy green tea that gives the fragrance a certain calmness and grounding. This note gives Sol e Samba exactly what makes it so special. Deep character and that Brazilian flair that oscillates between beach heat, palm shade and joie de vivre
Fig leaf, tobacco leaf and juniper berries unfold in the heart. The fig leaf brings a creamy green freshness, the tobacco a subtle warmth and the juniper a slightly tart aroma that rounds off the whole thing wonderfully. None of this is loud, everything remains very harmonious and balanced.

The base with amber cedarwood musk and a hint of leather ensures a pleasant finish on the skin. Gently warm, slightly woody but never heavy or too sweet.

The fragrance lasts for around eight hours without evaporating. The sillage is very well dosed, you notice it but it doesn't impose itself. Just right for a fragrance that can stand out but doesn't have to scream.

For me, Sol e Samba is a little masterpiece that you don't smell every day. Fresh, fruity and earthy with depth and good humor. Anyone looking for a fragrance that smells of summer joie de vivre and style should spray it on their skin at their leisure.
