Golden Late Summer Evening in Naxos

Royal Amber is marketed as an elegant, softly spicy evening fragrance. Sean Connery as Bond, but in the 21st century, in a tuxedo at a royal reception.
Does the scent live up to this image? I think so! The opening is soft, spicy, and sweet. The DNA of apricot, cardamom, and praline comes through quickly, without being sticky sweet or overly spicy. Instead, ginger, rose, and warm woods caress the senses, making this fragrance extremely elegant. Personally, I get a Xerjoff Naxos association, as if tobacco is also present, but not intrusive and fresh, rather more refined, warmer, and rounder. The fact that, despite the rose and cardamom, there is no oud in this warm, sweet style makes Royal Amber, in my opinion, more classic. Saville Row suit, cognac, and a reception with the Queen. But it is also not as polarizing and eccentric as an Alexandria 2, which would overwhelm all guests at a family gathering. Additionally, it has a respectable longevity of 6-7 hours.
Conclusion: Philip Birkholz says that once you try the fragrance, you can't live without it. I believe he is right!

Warm, elegant, "seductive"

I really like Royal Amber overall. The scent is warming, soothing, elegant, and truly beautiful. I miss a certain punch, though. The whole theme could be a bit louder for me. Then I would probably like the fragrance even more. But it could also be due to the sample I have here.

Royal Amber is pleasantly sweet and spicy, has woody facets, slightly floral aspects, and with, for example, the apricot, a very, very subtle fruity facet.

The fragrance starts with this subtle, but really good apricot combined with a very fine bergamot.
But I can also feel the cardamom right from the start. It brings a certain spiciness to the mix and wow, is it well balanced!

The bergamot and apricot then recede, allowing the cardamom to take center stage.
A super pleasant rose accord joins the cardamom.
I'm not a big fan of rose. However, when it is used finely and subtly, I actually like it quite a lot, and that's exactly how it is here.

After a certain time, I would say after about an hour, woody notes come into play. There is also a sweet accord, which is labeled as praline in the pyramid.

All in all, it is a really fine little fragrance. I have a scent in my collection that gives me similar vibes and conveys such impressions.
(far from the notes!)
The Roberto Cavalli Uomo Deep Desire gives me those similar feelings. I like that!

As I already mentioned in the statement and above, the fragrance could be a little "louder" for me. But it could also be due to my sample. I don't know.

I definitely see Royal Amber in the unisex segment!
The fragrance is wonderful for both genders to wear.

Licence to Elegance

For me, the perfect scent for a special evening when you want to appear elegant and serious.

Royal Amber starts off very spicy and quickly transitions into a light woodiness with a lovely sweetness. Not too overpowering but warm and slightly fruity.

I first smelled it in a sample included with an order and immediately knew that I would need it someday. I then opted for the Travel Size (10 ml), which is perfect for on-the-go.

A very good sillage followed by a vanilla-sweet base that lasts up to 6 hours on the skin.

Definitely one of the top 5 Birkholz fragrances for men.

Birkholz gets everything right!

First of all, I can say that I have really come to appreciate the Birkholz brand and have already had several fragrances in my collection, and still do. One of them is the Royal Amber. I actually became aware of the fragrance through the Instagram channel of @phil_birkholz and was immediately excited when I read the statements and reviews here. It is no coincidence that it is considered the seductive fragrance for men from the house of Birkholz.

And as a result, I can wholeheartedly agree with that. I also find it interesting that the first two fragrances in the "smells like..." category are XXI: Art Deco - Blonde Amber and Halfeti. And I would describe the Royal Amber as a combination of both fragrances. At first, it is very sweet, slightly fruity but in a luxurious way, like the XXI: Art Deco - Blonde Amber, and has a light woody-green, almost minimally herbal accord from the Halfeti. In my opinion, this combination remains quite consistent for a while, until over time there is a slight shift towards the woody-green.
In summary, I can say that the Royal Amber has become one of my favorite fragrances for the evening, no matter the season!

Modern Amber Fragrance

Classy scent - That’s for sure!

The fragrance starts off fresh and fruity with lavender and bergamot. The juicy apricot shines as the main character!
On top of that, there’s a light, warm-soft vanilla-amber accord on creamy sandalwood.
Cardamom and the praline accord add depth and spice here.
I don’t really pick up on the rose.

I often find amber fragrances too musty, opulent, and resinous-sweet. The Royal Amber achieves the perfect balance of sweetness, fruit, and freshness while feeling very well-balanced and quite modern.

I would tend to wear it on cooler days. It would definitely be great for a date - It would be too precious for the club!

Overall, a really beautiful composition: Warm, sweet, cozy, but also fresh and modern in the opening. Good projection and longevity - It stands out and brings compliments, but it’s not overwhelming!

Test recommendation is definitely ready to go!
