A deep vanilla fragrance with certain parallels to a great acquaintance

I really like Satin Vanilla.
We have a vanilla fragrance here that has a certain depth and doesn't just come across as over-sweetened. I also notice certain parallels to a great acquaintance from Guerlain. Spiritueuse Double Vanille is the fragrance I am referring to here. The SDV from Guerlain simply radiates a certain depth, looks high-quality and is just great. I feel the same way about Satin Vanilla.

The fragrance starts directly with a great vanilla vibe. Although the vanilla is listed in the base, I can already clearly recognize it in the top. There is also a subtle rum accord that gives the fragrance a certain edge. Although that is probably an exaggeration. It's not really rough edges, but the rum simply gives it a certain depth and a nice twist. However, the rum is by no means alcoholic, but rather sweet/nutty. In addition, you can actually detect a slight pepper note.

Over time, it becomes creamier and creamier and a certain caramel impression could also arise yes.
Perhaps something along the lines of vanilla-caramel cookies. Otherwise, we have a very, very subtle and soft orange blossom in the course of the fragrance and towards the end the beautifully creamy sandalwood is added.

All in all, it's a really nice vanilla fragrance that you can try out for yourself.
Especially fans of fragrances like Spiritueuse Double Vanille and Angélique Noire by Guerlain or, for example, a Mercedes-Benz Club Black will enjoy it.

Satin Vanilla is wonderfully unisex wearable and the performance is also quite good.
The fragrance lasts about 8 hours on my skin and projects well, especially at the beginning.
The sillage then becomes noticeably "weaker" over time, but firstly that is usually the case and secondly it is still perfectly fine.

The bronze medal goes to vanilla

With Satin Vanilla, Birkholz is launching the new fragrance from the "Classic Collection".

A glance at the fragrance pyramid already suggests that it could be quite a gourmand fragrance and that is also the reality for me after a first test.
Contrary to its name and despite its presence, vanilla does not play first fiddle here, which disappoints me a little as a vanilla lover.

For me, Satin Vanilla turns out to be much more of a caramelized milk mixture, which suffers greatly from the influences of rum and plum, especially at the beginning.
I deliberately use the word "suffer" here, because I don't entirely like the start.
the projection doesn't seem quite in balance to me, the rum note bothers me.

Coupled with this increasingly strong gourmand DNA, it doesn't create a harmonious interplay for me.

With a little time, the top notes fade and the described milk mixture asserts itself.
Vanilla is noticeable, but it subordinates itself to the sweet characteristics of the caramel, which costs the partly great spiciness of the vanilla charm - a pity! In addition, the fragrance becomes softer and softer over time and is much calmer than the top notes, which is certainly due to the sandalwood.

All in all, I would say that there may be a certain degree of the "unisex" label, but I tend to see Satin Vanilla more in the women's range, as I also totally miss the pithy spiciness of the vanilla.

I don't notice orange blossom at all.

Many fragrances in this category are often loud and project strongly.
The Birkholz does not do this and is a rather calm and gentle companion, especially for such a DNA, which makes it quite wearable.
The stamina nevertheless remains solid, albeit rather skin-deep as time progresses.

The bottom line:
Not what I was personally hoping for, rather feminine and quite gourmand.
Vanilla accompanies, but does not characterize the fragrance as the name suggests.
Caramel and milk share the gold medal, vanilla goes home with bronze.

Rum, plum, pepper ... would have been great

I was so happy when I read the name of Birkholz's perfume (satin immediately makes me think of something similar to white/pink Cosmetica) and then the top note "rum, plum, pepper".

I was happy to overlook milk in the base and vanilla ... yes, vanilla ... it's in almost everything and will fit.

Now to the reality:
Zero rum
Zero plum
Zero pepper
(Incidentally, also zero gardenia and orange blossom, we could perhaps and possibly still discuss the caramel).

I start my fragrance experience directly in the base:
Vanilla
Milk
Sandalwood

These 3 components conjure up the impression of rice pudding, from start to finish.
I don't want to say it's bad. If you like the smell of rice pudding or even vanilla pudding, you'll love it. Because it's beautifully made, not overly bright and comes across as delicate and elegant.
Can also be worn in the office! But just rice pudding.
And it lasts up to 12 hours. It is quiet but really quiet for 12 hours. You can still smell it on clothes after 2 days.

The bottle is beautiful, classic and elegant, typical of Birkholz.

When I was a little boy, my...

... As a single mother, I didn't have much time. But the time she did have, she gave to me. Even if it was just the little things where I was allowed to watch and help her prepare a real vanilla pudding. Not a quick one from the packet. She didn't make it often, mostly in winter. She always used the real vanilla instead. These moments and the smell are etched in my memory as some of the best times.

When you apply this fragrance, the first thing you notice is vanilla. This is underlined by a delicate plum aroma and a slightly stronger rum note. Pepper is also present but remains very discreetly in the background. In contrast, the caramel comes to the fore with its sweetness and orange blossom accents. There is also some sandalwood and everything is enveloped in warm milk. Simply a wonderful, beautiful fall and winter fragrance.

The durability and silage is good.

This is a beautiful unisex fragrance that I only see in the 25+ age group. For younger people, I could imagine that they wouldn't be able to do anything with it yet. But maybe I'm wrong, which would be nice. It is definitely a perfume that shows its absolute strength on cold days in fall and winter. If the day is cold in spring, it can of course also be worn. If this fragrance is worn during the day, e.g. in the office or when shopping, I would not apply so much. In the evening, however, in a club, bar, disco or even a dance event, it can be sprayed on well, then it can easily assert itself against the other sweet perfumes.

What I can't understand is the sometimes poor rating. This fragrance does not deserve that.

If you like to wear a vanilla fragrance with warm milk and plum-rum accords with sweet caramel and want to stand out from the crowd, this fragrance from Birkholz is just right for you.

Satin Plum?

First spray: I am greeted by an over-sugared vanilla croissant. While I briefly consider whether this is not too much of a good thing, the first sugar load is already reduced and I am left with a relatively solid (or boring?) vanilla fragrance impression.
In the minutes that follow, I ponder whether the fragrance as a whole is too boring for me. When I sniff my wrist again after a good hour, I am surprised to discover that a slightly tipsy plum is now pushing its way into the olfactory foreground.
In the drydown, this plum then becomes very pleasant and soft, so that I would almost call it "satin plum". I like this fragrance phase the best.
I come to the conclusion: not a masterpiece, but also not as boring as I initially thought.
