For the vanilla fans out there
The opening gives a whiff of sweetened condensed milk, but it is very brief. It settles into a sweet milky vanilla with slight notes of rum. I am enjoying it, although I am not a huge vanilla-forward perfume fan in general.
Not full bottle worthy for me as I already have perfumes who fill the role of this perfume better in my collection - though not the same, just slightly similar, they are Milk Musk EDT by Molton Brown and Lait Concentre by Chabaud.

A Deep Vanilla Scent with Certain Parallels to a Well-Known Classic
Satin Vanilla really appeals to me.
Here we have a vanilla scent that possesses a certain depth and doesn't just come across as overly sweet. I also notice certain parallels to a well-known fragrance from Guerlain. I am referring to Spiritueuse Double Vanille. The SDV from Guerlain radiates a certain depth, feels luxurious, and is simply wonderful. I feel the same way about Satin Vanilla.

The fragrance starts off with a fantastic vanilla vibe. Although vanilla is listed in the base, it is already clearly recognizable in the top notes for me. Alongside that, there is a subtle rum accord that gives the fragrance some character. Although that might be a bit of an exaggeration. There aren't really any sharp edges, but the rum simply conveys that certain depth and adds a nice twist. The rum does not come across as alcoholic at all, but rather sweet/nutty. Additionally, you can actually perceive a slight pepper note.

As time goes on, it becomes creamier, and a certain caramel impression might also develop, yes.
Perhaps something along the lines of vanilla-caramel cookies. Otherwise, throughout the progression, there is a very, very subtle and soft orange blossom, and towards the end, the beautifully creamy sandalwood comes in.

All in all, it is a really lovely vanilla scent that one can definitely try.
Especially fans of fragrances like Spiritueuse Double Vanille and Angélique Noire from Guerlain or even a Mercedes-Benz Club Black will find pleasure in this.
A beautiful thing!

Satin Vanilla is wonderfully unisex wearable, and the performance is also quite good.
On my skin, the scent lasts about 8 hours, and especially at the beginning, it projects well.
The sillage noticeably becomes "weaker" over time, but that is usually the case, and it is still completely acceptable.

As a little boy, my mother...
... as a single parent had little time. But the time she had, she gave to me. And even if it was just little things, like watching and helping her when she made a real vanilla pudding. Not the quick one from the pack. This was not something we had often, mostly in winter. For that, she always used real vanilla. Those moments and the scent have burned into my memory as one of the most beautiful times.

When applying this fragrance, the first thing that hits the nose is vanilla. This is underscored by a delicate plum aroma and a slightly stronger rum note. The pepper is there, but it remains quite subtle in the background. In contrast, the caramel with its sweetness and the orange blossom accents come to the forefront more strongly. Add a bit of sandalwood, and everything is enveloped in a warm milk. Simply a wonderful, beautiful autumn and winter scent.

The longevity and sillage are good.

This is a lovely unisex fragrance that I see more suited for an age group of 25 and older. I could imagine that younger people might not know what to do with it. But perhaps I am mistaken, which would be nice. It is definitely a perfume that shows its absolute strength on cold days in autumn and winter. If the day is cold in spring, it can of course also be worn. When worn during the day, for example in the office or while shopping, I wouldn't apply it too heavily. In the evening, however, in a club, bar, disco, or at a dance event, it can be sprayed on generously, and then it can easily hold its own against other sweet perfumes.

What I cannot understand is the somewhat poor ratings. This fragrance does not deserve that.

Anyone who enjoys a vanilla scent with warm milk and plum-rum accords, along with sweet caramel, and wants to stand out from the crowd will find this fragrance from Birkholz just right.

The Bronze Medal Goes to Vanilla
With Satin Vanilla, Birkholz introduces the new fragrance from the "Classic Collection."

A glance at the fragrance pyramid already suggests that it could be quite a gourmand scent, and this is indeed how I perceive it after a first test.
Vanilla, contrary to the name and despite its presence, does not take center stage, which disappoints me a bit as a vanilla lover.

Satin Vanilla reveals itself to me much more as a caramelized milk mixture, which particularly at the beginning suffers greatly from the influences of rum and plum.
I consciously use the word "suffer," as I do not entirely enjoy the opening.
To me, the projection feels somewhat out of balance; the rum note bothers me.

Coupled with this increasingly dominant gourmand DNA, there is no harmonious interplay for me.

With a bit of time, the top notes fade, and the described milk mixture comes through.
Vanilla is noticeable, but it subordinates itself to the sweet characteristics of caramel, which costs the sometimes wonderful spiciness of vanilla its charm - what a shame!
Moreover, the fragrance becomes softer and noticeably calmer over time compared to the initial phase, which is surely due to the sandalwood.

In summary, I would say there is a certain degree of the "unisex" label present, but I tend to see Satin Vanilla more in the realm of women's fragrances, as I completely miss the robust spiciness of vanilla.

I do not perceive orange blossom at all.

Many fragrances in this category are often loud and project strongly.
The Birkholz does not do this and is particularly a rather calm and gentle companion for such a DNA, which makes it quite wearable.
The longevity remains solid, although it is more intimate as time progresses.

The conclusion:
Not what I personally hoped for, rather feminine and quite gourmand.
Vanilla accompanies but does not define the fragrance as the name might suggest.
Caramel and milk share the gold medal, while vanilla takes home the bronze.

Rum, Plum, Pepper … would have been great
Oh how I was looking forward to reading the name of the perfume from Birkholz (Satin immediately triggers something for me, similar to white/pink cosmetics) and then seeing "Rum, Plum, Pepper" in the top notes.

I initially overlooked the milk in the base and vanilla … yes vanilla … it's almost everywhere and should fit in.

Now to reality:
Zero rum
Zero plum
Zero pepper
(By the way, also zero gardenia and orange blossom; we could perhaps discuss the caramel).

I begin my fragrance experience directly in the base:
Vanilla
Milk
Sandalwood

These 3 components create the impression of rice pudding, from start to finish.
I don't want to say it's bad. Anyone who likes to smell like rice pudding or vanilla pudding will find it great. Because it’s well made, not overly radiant, and comes across as delicate and elegant.
Also very wearable in the office!
But it’s just rice pudding.
And it lasts up to 12 hours. It’s quiet but really consistently quiet for 12 hours. You can still smell it on clothing after 2 days.

The bottle is typically beautiful for Birkholz, classic, elegant.

Sweet, creamy vanilla dessert with caramel rum topping. Delicious and sensual at the same time. For me, unisex and better than expected!
