Not what I expected...

Oh boy! This fragrance is not at all what I had expected it to be.

I blind bought it on a whim because it was on sale at Breuninger along with a few other fragrances from Birkholz. Judging from the notes, everything is what I love or like at least. But once I smelled the fragrance, it was a completely different experience. It smells like a plastic-y vanilla and I couldn't detect any of the florals or the amber. I am not sure if it is the sesame note responsible for this plastic-y smell.

What smells so delicious here? ...

grandpa asks himself, puts his book down and follows his nose towards the kitchen. Soft vanilla notes waft towards him, coupled with a scent that seems familiar. But he can't immediately work out what it is. It's on the tip of his tongue. Grandpa stops in the doorway with a grin. Grandma is standing at the stove with her hair tied up loosely and wearing a flowered apron. She hums along to the Christmas carols playing on the radio and taps her foot to the beat. She stirs butter with a wooden spoon and heats it in a saucepan. Her cheeks are soft pink from the heat of the oven. She looks up briefly into Grandpa's smiling face and says happily, "The vanilla crescents must be ready soon, mon amour. But let them cool first! Otherwise they'll fall apart." She raises her wooden spoon admonishingly. Grandpa laughs and sees the finished sesame cookies on a plate on the worktop. Now he remembers what he had smelled earlier: sesame seeds! Grandpa quietly steals past Grandma towards the plate. As he passes, he catches a whiff of her delicate, flowery perfume that he bought her years ago for her ruby wedding in Paris. Unnoticed, he grabs two sesame cookies and sneaks out of the kitchen as if on velvet paws. Still with a smile on his face.

The creamy, floral elegance with a gourmand character

Paris - Mon Amour by Birkholz is, as is typical of the French Collection, a really great fragrance For me, it is a light gourmand with a subtle but noticeable pepper note. We also have creamy, floral notes. The fragrance is very elegant and is also perceived as elegant on the outside. Paris Mon Amour is definitely wearable unisex, but I would assume that it suits women even better.

The fragrance starts off beautifully sweet, but never too much. This is by no means a fragrance that is too overpowering, sticky or anything else.
It is a really pleasant and soft sweetness. There is also this pepper, which goes really well with the fragrance. For me, the fragrance is creamy right from the start. It even comes across as almost subtly powdery.

Over time, floral accords are added.
They give the fragrance that certain elegance and fit in wonderfully with the impressions mentioned above. It simply creates a super fitting overall picture.
As is so often the case, ylang-ylang also creates this beautiful creamy impression.

Towards the end, a pleasant vanilla note is added, which cuddles a little with the amber accord.

All in all, it's a really beautiful fragrance. The only drawback I have is the performance.
The performance is rated really well, but somehow I often have my problems with the Birkholz fragrances in this theme. I don't know why that is. The longevity is totally fine for me at seven hours and that's more than enough for me. However, the sillage is always more important to me and this is where it struggles a little. By keeping an eye on it, I still managed to score six points.
Perhaps Birkholz simply uses raw materials in its production that don't transport my skin so well.

Nevertheless, this is a really good fragrance! Birkholz has many beautiful fragrances in its repertoire.

Currywurst with chips or saffron foam soup with caviar?

It is, of course, absolutely essential to flex your cooking skills. Only the most expensive ingredients need to be refined with high-impact preparation methods. Flambéing is the minimum. Better : molecular cuisine!

... that's roughly how it seems to me with some perfumers. The main thing is East Laotian Oud Orpur, West Anatolian pale iris absolute and 43 other ingredients that nobody knows or even recognizes. Very important: violet leaf must not be missing. As decoration on the edge of the plate, so to speak.

Paris - Mon Amour takes a different approach here. A luxury curry sausage with chips, so to speak. Simple and yet subtly so incredibly refined. The result is an absolutely sophisticated blend in which no fragrance note is perceptible on its own, but is responsible for one facet of the overall impression. No unnecessary gimmickry, but a heavenly fragrance that you can't get enough of and won't tire of either.

A crowd pleaser at niche level, simple and sophisticated at the same time.

Beautifully creamy, creamy, sweet, gourmand and at the same time powerful and strong, yet airy and delicate. Very difficult to describe.

An absolute go-to, good-mood fragrance for any occasion.

Longevity and sillage are great, the bottle is... yes, not quite as luxurious as I would have liked for the price and the outer packaging looks like an old Laura Ashley wallpaper with all the floral frills. The spray head, on the other hand, works well for me.
It doesn't offer the oud punch of a "Ceylon | XerJoff" , the overpowering presence of an Interlude 53 , doesn't polarize as blatantly as a Gladiator Oud ...

... and I am grateful for that.

Instead, "Paris Mon Amour" gives me the good feeling of having arrived and not missing anything. I can grow old with you.
