Spicy clove on a cologne base
Le Voyage Oriental was a welcome change from the rest of the heavy, resinous fragrances in my Bortnikoff sample set. It is based on the "cologne" base which Mr. Bortnikoff has used before in Amber Cologne, Cologne de Feu, etc. Beautiful citrus and woods with the slightest funkiness from the animalic and oud notes. The big difference here is the addition of a strong clove note, which gives it the "oriental" direction. In the opening, it smells like a smooth tisane of bitter orange and clove. Very nicely blended with clearly a lot of naturals and high-quality ingredients. Drydown is a slightly smoky vetiver
