So far, I was far from convinced. The scents all seemed too pale and weak to me.
While Zegna Cologne is not a knockout either, the fact that Daniela Andrier was involved in this fragrance, who is also responsible for Amber pour Homme by Prada, made me curious.
And lo and behold, Zegna Cologne really does have something to offer. At first, it comes off a bit fruity, zesty with a muted sour note. The cardamom is quite delicately balanced here.
At the same time, like a gentle soft pillow, the musk spreads in the background and creates a refined counterpoint.
Zegna Cologne somewhat reminds me of Azzaro pour Homme L´Eau, but it feels more balanced and elegant here. Moreover, despite its relatively high citrus content, it lasts quite a long time.
For me, so far, it is one of the most appealing fragrances from Ermenegildo Zegna. But why it is not more widespread here and has not been commented on at Parfumo yet is a mystery to me. Certainly: those who don't know it haven't really missed much, but at least it gives one certainty that the Italian luxury brand is not completely incapable of creating something olfactorily appealing …
