Underrated
I just between time to time when I want to buy a new, unknown perfume, I come here to see what the community is writing on specific perfume that I heared is good and worth to try. However, this is not the case today due to the low rating for this product. Before a while, I used just to follow the blind technique, buy it, and judge it by using your smelling preference. One of the perfumes that I bought with that technique, was the Givenchy pour homme, and I cannot tell you how I was lucky ( by the way it's something rare ). The scent is something unique, you will identify it easly if you smell it in the street, old fashion, mature, not for the millennials. Start with strong woody-Fresh smell, then everything be quite with the Fruity scent. The longevity is above average, I am unfortunately smoker, even thou, I still smell the perfume on me after 5-6 hours. Highly recommend it if you are searching for special scent.

Old Spice where??
My preconceived notions about Givenchy pour homme came from other reviews. Apparently this is a spicy, woody, fresh fragrance that is dated and more suited to the 35+ crowd (I'm 35). The way people were describing it made it sound like Old Spice aftershave.

Upon first spray in the opening, this is NOT Old Spice. In fact, this is barely spiced at all, at least to my nose. I have an earlier version of the bottle with the built-in atomizer and the candy-red painted plastic piece on top. So what was I smelling? Effervescent, sparkling, cool ginger fizz. I guess ginger is a spice--just not the type kept in a spice cabinet. I'm not sure how ginger isn't listed on the note breakdown. It may be that the combination of coriander, lavender and grapefruit/mandarin is combining in a way that creates a ginger accord to my nose (like a slightly spiced, bubbly citrus).

The woodiness is also toned down here, but present. Strangely enough, to my nose, this fragrance has less woodiness than something like Light Blue Summer Vibes (another Morillas concoction). I'm not sure if it's because of my batch or because of the fragrance itself. The woodiness is sort of in there hidden behind the bubbly ginger fizz and a bit of sweetness from the labdanum.

So is this an outdated fragrance? No. It's actually incredibly modern, like many of Alberto Morillas' creations. It's refreshing, light, like a cool tonic water mixed with crushed ginger and a tiny dash of simple syrup. Givenchy pour homme would appeal to anyone that enjoys these types of fresh, cool fragrances. I live in a Mediterranean climate so these types of fragrances done right will always appeal to me.

Maybe it's the incredibly young men who are just discovering fragrance for the first time that are calling this "old man spicy". Perhaps, compared to Invictus, Nitro Red, BR 540, sure. But this fragrance is also not old-school masculine like an 80's and early 90's aromatic fougère, nor is it in-your-face old school like YSL Kouros. I sort of put it in the same category as Tygar, as weird as that sounds. It's definitely a unique fragrance if you can get past the fact that it's not overpoweringly strong. I know a lot of noses out there need highly volatile scent molecules to sense what is going on. But, if you can get past the humble strength, there is a lot to love about this fizzy fragrance. It successfully straddles the line between cool and warm. This would work great in almost any situation--even in the most crowded of elevators and subway cars. 7.5/10

An odd blend of spices whose time has gone by
I bought a full bottle for $33 from Jomashop without testing a sample at home. It was not a completely blind buy as I had tested it while passing through London Heathrow Airport.

When I sprayed it on my hand in the duty free airport boutique, it felt spicy and medicinal, but pleasant. When I tried the full bottle at home, it still felt medicinal but rather unpleasant. Vetiver, cedar and labdanum (?) are all pushed to the front and it doesn’t create a good feeling. I really couldn’t see much development in the notes. This combination might have worked two decades ago, but we have much better perfumes now. In addition, Givenchy Pour Homme comes in a very odd-looking bottle.

Fortunately, I was able to send it back to the seller and get a refund. It is just too much and too little at the same time. Don't buy it simply because it is cheap.

Best Office Fragrance
A well-groomed scent, I must say. The longevity is also relatively good for me, lasting 7 to 8 hours. I find the fragrance works best in the office. You always smell like freshly ironed clothes; I know the same from Bvlgari Homme, but here it is even more pronounced and not as synthetic as with Bvlgari.

I don't even know where this comes from; amber is often responsible for this "ironed freshness," but it doesn't appear in the scent progression here. Maybe it's the labdanum? What is that, actually? Does anyone know?

Well, I like it very much and always feel very comfortable with the scent!

OLD BUT GOLD
I love this scent!! It’s just perfect for summer. I had it back when I was 18, and now I have it again at 31 :-) I can only recommend it. It suits almost every occasion. It smells citrusy, elegant, and subtle. It really lasts a long time.

This is a great scent, I got the spiciness as the top note and then later it becomes warm and fresh. Give it a try, it won't disappoint.

This one’s for personal pleasure. Smells uniquely masculine with charming vibes. But honestly, the performance is really weak!

Not as classy as other fragrances from the brand, but still a lovely and wearable everyday scent. Fits almost any occasion.

My deliciously underrated everyday companion for over 10 years. Subtle fruity notes with a hint of wood, becoming creamy soft. I like it!
