L'Interdit Givenchy 2022 Eau de Toilette

Absolutely obsessed with the Givenchy L'Interdit collection, specifically the Eau De Parfum and the Rouge! I ended up ordering some decants of other flankers including the Absolu, Rouge Ultime, and the 2019 Eau de Toilette. I decided I loved the springy, floral of the 2019 Eau de Toilette, which is not being produced anymore, so I ordered it from Amazon. I know, probably a mistake. I am very new to fragrances.

That being said, the 2022 Eau de Toilette arrived in its place. I was disappointed because I hadn't had the chance to try it yet and worried I wasted a new fragrance purchase on something I wouldn't wear. It is definitely not as floral as the 2019 Toilette, but I have decided it was a good purchase nonetheless.

It is a mild, light version of the Eau de Parfum, perfectly suitable for the slowly rising temperatures of late winter and early spring. It's a bit more woody and citrusy than the 2019 Toilette and the Eau de Parfum. A little powdery, soft, and grassy, while maintaining the interest of the L'Interdit collection.

Sad that I may not be able to obtain a larger size of the 2019 Toilette, but I did get a full refund for the wrong fragrance being sent, so a win-win! This will be a key springtime fragrance for me.

A floral sweet fragrance with slightly fruity notes.
Suitable for everyday wear as well as for the evening.
I was drawn to it because of the combination of my favorite notes, orange blossom and jasmine, and it convinced me right away.
The tuberose is beautifully highlighted. I find the base note very well balanced.
I have a lovely new fragrance in my collection that I will surely reach for often.

I have heard people rave about this fragrance with almost reverent enthusiasm a few times, which is why I wanted to test it. Without this influence, it probably would never have happened, as I hadn’t considered the brand and the bottle doesn’t really appeal to me. But here we are:

So the sillage is really good, the scent has punch :) And I love the opening of this fragrance: Really sweet and sticky-fruity, but in such an elegant, mature, and high-quality way that it truly impressed me! Sweet and fruity are not my favorite scent notes anymore; I used to enjoy that kind of thing 10 years ago. But L'interdit - at least how it smells in the first 30 minutes - I would still wear in my 30s.

However, after that, the perfume changes significantly. The noble sweetness becomes something flatter and weaker to my nose. It somehow reminds me of desserts sweetened with artificial sweeteners or stevia. That sweetness is so different and, I think, only really comes at the very end when swallowing the bite. After 2-3 hours, there’s no trace of the fruitiness left; instead, I now smell more of the musk, patchouli, and sandalwood. So it goes from sweet-fruity to powdery-woody.

For me, the fragrance makes almost a 180° turn in a direction that I unfortunately can’t really enjoy.

Today the package arrived with this blind buy.
I did smell the fragrance once on my colleague, but it was a completely different scent on her :)

Already when unpacking, I thought, oh dear, this is unfortunately not for me.
The scent itself is not bad, I just personally don’t like it on myself.
Since I applied it 2 hours ago, I’ve been suffering ;)

I smell a sugary toilet spray rose here, it’s quite terrible :)
As if there’s a heavy Turkish rose in the heart and base notes, but it’s not listed. I had imagined something completely different with this fragrance, so it’s definitely not a blind buy candidate, but I should have been alerted by this new feature at the top where fragrances are compared to others - I also absolutely do not like Elie Saab Le Parfum.

I’m going to wash this off now, because which fragrances last the longest? The ones you don’t like ;)

I love the L'Interdit EdP, but for daytime it is usually too strong for me. Especially in warmer temperatures, this sweet intense scent would overwhelm me.

This L’Interdit EdT is a bit woodier, fresher, and lighter, yet still has the same alluring fragrance DNA. It is perfect for everyday wear and envelops its wearer in a pleasantly sensual tuberose cloud.

Longevity/sillage are also very good here, but more subtle than in all other L'Interdits.
