A Disappointment or Xerjoff Society Buongiorno
It seems to be a bit of a national sport here for some to tear apart every designer fragrance in the air. One often reads that flankers are generally a cause for annoyance.
I do not belong to those who share this opinion. On the contrary. I often observe the production of flankers and am pleased when variations of fragrances I appreciate are released.
I was very curious about this scent. To be honest, I was even quite convinced that it couldn't be bad. I find Gentleman Givenchy Réserve Privée to be one of the best scents for cold days. To stay within the Society line: I find Gentleman Society Eau de Parfum Extrême to be a very nicely sweet, nutty iris-coffee scent. The recently released Gentleman Society Eau de Parfum Ambrée impressed me even more. Although I do not understand why it is named as it is, I find it to be an airy fresh laundry scent that surpasses L'Homme in terms of "Daily use" and translates it into today's time. I have grown fond of Givenchy lately. That is one reason.
The other reason is that I find so-called sport scents appealing. Dior Homme Sport (2021) is for me a beautifully woody-fresh scent with a citrus focus. Allure Homme Sport Eau Extrême always envelops me in a fresh sillage of creamy nuances.
I think the house of Givenchy is great. I find the genre of sport fragrances great. Quickly reading the notes: lavender, citrus, iris, vanilla, amberwood, and patchouli - all of that sounds great. So my anticipation was high, and I quickly ordered a 5 ml sample, convinced that it would impress me and find a place on my shelf.
In my imagination, I placed the scent in the vicinity of "Allure Homme Édition Blanche (Eau de Parfum) | Chanel." A citrus-creamy scent with softness and freshness.
But while Allure Homme Édition Blanche Eau de Parfum is a masterpiece, Gentleman Society Eau de Parfum Sport is a bitter disappointment - I can't say it any other way.

The opening reminds me of synthetic citrus scents from the 90s. I liked some of those quite a bit. Right from the opening, it reminds me of a fragrance that I cannot yet identify. Already here, it seems unbalanced to me. I wasn't quite sure if I liked the opening or not. Another spray in a different spot provided more certainty. Lavender and lemon would have been better left alone from the Petitgrain. In some cases, I find Petitgrain to be nice - it can come across as bitter, green, and floral. It does here as well, but overall too synthetic.
After about 2 hours, there is actually a citrus vetiver note left, which can be found elsewhere in a more interesting way.
Overall, neither a kind of Allure Homme Sport Eau Extrême nor Allure Homme Édition Blanche Eau de Parfum has been achieved by Givenchy here (admittedly, those are heavyweights that are not easy to match). The scent rather comes across as feminine and reminds me of "Fico di Amalfi | Acqua di Parma," with the scent it comes closest to being "Buongiorno | Acqua di Parma." Lemon, Petitgrain, and lavender also provide the commonality. For me, it is too green-citrusy and too strictly synthetic.
I don't know if I can put it quite right. But I have more of a feeling of smelling a Xerjoff fragrance than a Givenchy fragrance. It has a restlessness that I know from "Torino21 | Xerjoff."

Not every flanker can please everyone. Givenchy owes me nothing.
Nevertheless, this beautiful bottle with the inscription "Sport" had filled me with anticipation.
We are never more hurt when we are ready to love and are rejected or disappointed. Such a pity. A summery sport scent from the house would have been something.
Can Givenchy still do citrus today?
They used to do it very well with "Monsieur Givenchy (Eau de Toilette) | Givenchy." The proof is still pending.

Independent Flanker / Citrus Open unfortunately Cedar Drydown
The Gentleman Society Eau de Parfum Sport is a direct competitor to Dior Homme Sport (2017) and Allure Homme Sport Eau Extrême as well as Allure Homme Édition Blanche Eau de Parfum. It doesn't really have much in common sensorially with the other Society fragrances.

The top note is impressive. Citrus in your face, high quality, not boring. Well done.

Hints of creaminess are woven into the fragrance notes, maybe it's the iris, maybe it's the vanilla, although the scent doesn't smell particularly vanillic or like iris per se.

To put it bluntly: It smells modern and quite creative. The wheel wasn't reinvented, but neither was a boring 0-8-15 summer scent created. It smells high quality and is not a headache candidate.

I'm not a big fan of cedarwood, and that's a shame here, because after 2 hours a cedarwood-dominant vetiver note remains with a subtle reminder of lemon cream. Now it's a bit annoying.

Adding vanilla to this is such a lazy give up. Stop. Relying. On. Vanilla. To. Sell. Fragrances.

I had big expectations about the Sport. I had a sample and what an awful smell. Cotton, flowerly and not masculine at all. No worth to buy.

Lavender? Vanilla? If they are in here, you can't detect them.
This is light iris with bitter greens and some vetiver. Fantastic fragrance.

For me, it's JV Artisan Pure meets Dior Homme Sport. I feel it doesnt last on skin, but it does (and projects) on clothes. Weird

Probably the best from the line. Bitter citruses, narcissus and vetiver. Not groundbreaking but solid gentlemanly citrus aromatic fragrance.

Optimal flank for the upcoming warm season. I bought it today at Douglas; H/S still great after four hours. Shower gel? So what?

The scent is brilliant. Intense, very prominent citrus notes take center stage. A fine lavender note joins in, while

WOW! In a negative way. Smells like an air freshener from a can. Haven't smelled anything this bad in a long time.

Fresh and somehow diluted version of the Gentleman DNA. Not a hit for me, but a solid all-rounder.

The opening is still nice. Unfortunately, on my skin, the scent develops into something that strongly reminds me of toilet freshener.
