armpit rose

a tangy and spiced rose with a slightly citrus backbone in the opening, that morphs into something….funky rather than dirty. Smells almost like BO or just armpit funk, which I suspect is from the combo of elemi resin, patchouli, and labdanum. The rose is there for sure, bright and fresh, but feels dragged down by the “dirty” aspects of the earthy funk and slight resinous undertone. It’s not my cup of tea as I don’t like rose and certainly not a smelly one lol

It's missing something...

Dirty Rose opens strongly of pink pepper and cedar which develops into a nutmeg and cardamom mix. Barely a hint of rose.

As one of my first niche perfumes decants AND start of my perfume obsession, I used to like this! I almost bought a full bottle; until my dad said it smelt like BO. Like all good BO, I couldn't smell it on myself, but I was turned off wearing it for a few months after hearing this. Funny reading the other reviews that mention this.

Recently trying it again..my scent profile has developed more. And yeah, that cumin-esque scent hits hard after it develops for a while! Unfortunately whatever it is is thick, and reminds me of Zaatar bread I get from my local shops. It also becomes somewhat of a rubbery smell? B.O. :(

It may work well for as a masculine scent, that is not me unfortunately!

I almost feel like it is lacking something.
When I wore it to the shop yesterday, I sampled a Mango x Passionfruit body spray over the same area on my wrist. And wow! It truly elevated the Dirty Rose into something manageable. Are these the missing notes that would make Dirty Rose better? Maybe! Maybe it is just a good layering scent, and requires a little sweetness to it.

Two-sided rose

At the first spray, it was a fairly strong rose which I didn't like. Then the rose completely faded, and nutmeg, patchouli, and resins came through. I thought: huh, is this it? and prepared to be disappointed. But after waiting for a bit longer, the rose came back! it came back fresher and softer and more realistic. It smells actually so good on my skin, I never thought I would like a rose scent this much. It has an almost petrichor quality to it, like roses in the rain, at a cemetery maybe. Unexpectedly reminds me a little bit of Nosferatu, which is my favorite scent by Heretic. I think I got lucky and it works so well with my skin chemistry. I wish it lasted longer, though...

Sweaty Rose

Yup, this is a dirty rose, just absolutely filthy. The rose has spicy and lemony facets that can make it smell a bit like cleaning products (ironically). This rose is not fresh, green, or powdery. I also get a strong cumin note...reading through some of the previous reviews, I suppose that's coming from the lambdanum + patchouli combination. Normally I like patchouli, but I hate cumin, so this isn't my favourite. Definitely getting the sweaty armpit vibes that others have mentioned.

A very masculine rose, I think due to the cedar and cumin-like accord. I wish I got more of the resins and vanilla, they're totally absent on my skin. The labdanum note is similar to the one in Coeur Noir. A sweaty, manly rose that could definitely be sexy on the right person, but certainly not on me!

Nice spicy rose to have on hand

I have two 2mL from different sample packs I've gotten from Heretic over time, so I've had a while to test this. It's in my rotation for scents I can comfortably wear to work and I might buy a full size once my samples are depleted.

In general I love a patchouli rose so this was a no brainer for me, but it also has a nice greenness to it which to me smells almost fruity. Maybe that's the blackcurrant. Just a hint of woodiness without being truly woody like Dirty Violet is.

I actually disagree with others about longevity. Not that it's super strong, but I just do two sprays early in the morning, and I still get whiffs of it in the late afternoon.
