Pure Poison without the Poison
Dior PURE POISON is a beautiful perfume, but it bears within it all the poisonous power of its namesake and is in fact very difficult for me to wear without enduring a headache. Must I therefore deny myself the experience of its glorious resinous jasmine? Not anymore.

Keiko Mecheri ISLES LOINTAINES smells every bit as beautiful as PURE POISON to my nose, and very similar compositionally. What's missing? The poison--whatever it is in the Dior which induces in me an acute headache if I apply one nanodrop too much.

My previous alternative to PURE POISON was Jesus del Pozo IN WHITE, which always seemed to be the most similar to the Dior creation, except that it smelled just a bit dingy, and so did not quite capture the laser-like limpidity of PURE POISON. ISLES LOINTAINES, in contrast, manages to convey that same degree of clarity for me and simply oozes sumptuousness.

I had been thinking that ISLES LOINTAINES came in the newer, clear bottle, not the traditional dark one. I suppose that I was associating the quality of the composition with the properties of the vessel in which it should be housed, logically speaking. Well, that's okay, since I wouldn't mind having another one of these bottles, even if I believe that the liquid inside would better match the clear one instead.

Will you like this perfume? If you like PURE POISON, I am confident that you will. If you dislike PURE POISON, for the reasons that make it a difficult wear for me, then ISLES LOINTAINES may, too, work for you. However, if you are a jasmine phobe, this is not the perfume for you. No indoles here, but lots of flaming white jasmine, among other big white flowers...

Far away Island
Divine through and through.

A joyous opening of gardenia, tiare, jasmine and tuberose. Creamier than Pure Poison, this could be her twin sister. It is bright in a warm but fresh way, the jasmine providing enough balance, with its delicate, just about soapy soul.

I get the comparison with a "riviera vibe", and can see myself wearing this on summer evenings, while promenading on a marina, ice cone in hand, flowy light dress and flat sandals on. It is dreamy, sitting rather close to the skin, which is great, as this should be a guilty pleasure to enjoy quietly with a smile, like a private joke. Can yet be perceived by someone near us, which makes this fragrance the perfect seduction ally.

My hubby loves it, so this is a keeper for me. It reminds me of Labello chapstick, only way more sophisticated a version of it.
Absolutely angelic, gets a nice 7/10 from me.

Deserves way more credit!
This is a scent that deserves a higher rating than the one it’s been given here. If you check out Fragrantica this scent is rated higher there which is interesting.

Isles Lointaines is an actually quite a unique white floral scent. It has a freshness to it, making it ideal for Spring or Summer. I actually get honeysuckle (although not listed), tiare flower and gardenia mainly. I don’t smell any Tuberose, Jasmine or rose notes. My bottle has only just arrived, so maybe those notes will emerge over time. I also don’t smell any Almond, but this is likely what is giving the scent its clean cotton vibe. This reminds me of sitting on a tropical island somewhere, soaking up the sun. I’m surrounded by fresh white florals and I’m on one of those white bed loungers with the box frame around it, draped in soft cotton sheets. You get the mix of different exotic white florals and the clean cotton, as it sways in the breeze. This is a soft fragrance and it does sit close to the skin, however Im also testing this on a cold march day. It will be interesting to see how this performs in the heat of summer. This is a beautiful, exotic, relaxing, sophisticated, creamy, feminine scent. It’s a shame it’s been discontinued!

I don’t get the comparison to Poison at all.

Walk in a Tropical Park
Vacation in the South Seas - the thought arises immediately upon spraying. First, I smell Tiaré and a bit of coconut (reminds me of good Monoi oil), a little later also jasmine and tuberose, which bring a floral heaviness to the fragrance blend, all softly and snugly nestled on a creamy-vanilla base. The association with good sunscreen is unavoidable, but this scent is finer, a bit more elegant.

When I close my eyes, I can actually see myself on a tropical island, but not on the beach or even in the jungle, rather in a well-kept tropical park, surrounded by lush white flowers, shortly after the sun has set, yet everything still radiates a hint of golden light. The surroundings are still filled with the heat of the day, but a light breeze carries with it the heavy scent of the flowers along with a touch of the impending darkness.

The fragrance is perfect for a vacation in warm regions - or when one simply longs to close their eyes and dream of a beautiful island… In my opinion, it’s not necessarily suitable for everyday life or work, or even special occasions, but as a leisure scent in summer, it is quite fitting, or also in the evening for cocktails - then ideally paired with Pina Colada or Coconut Daiquiri, the drink to match the scent, so to speak ;-)

Unfortunately, the longevity on my skin is not particularly good, which I have also experienced with other Mecheri fragrances. I couldn’t notice any significant similarities with Pure Poison or In The Mood For Love on myself.

Pure Poison on the Distant Island
Smells like a somewhat "more natural," higher-quality version of J-L. Pozo's fragrance "In White," which in turn is an imitation of Dior's "Pure Poison." Orange blossom, jasmine, and candied orange peel are combined in "Isles Lontaines" with very strong amber notes. Very loud, too shrill for me and not living up to the name. "Distant Islands" should smell much finer and more exotic in my imagination, but above all, they should not be a remake of a well-known mainstream blockbuster. I expect more imagination from a niche company than what is shown here. "Pure Poison" or "In White" are available much cheaper than "Isles Lontaines" - and even the bottles of the former two are prettier. I find these black blocks from Keiko Mecheri ugly. The glass bottles used to contain 100 ml, while the black containers now only hold 75 ml, but the price has increased. In my opinion, "Isles Lontaines" is not a great success. Also, in terms of longevity, "In White" and "Pure Poison" are better.

Creamy South Sea floral scent. Quite nice, but reminds me of various tiara fragrances for less money.

A really beautiful scent. Tuberose is a bit off-putting, but all in all: a creamy floral fragrance that can truly remind you of the South Seas.

Right after spraying, a sharp sweet pear hits my nostrils. After the drydown, a sweet floral scent develops.

Creamy, soft, and elegant. A breeze glides over sun-kissed, salty skin, bringing a hint of the perfume. I'm feeling great!

Pungent, green tuberose, stays the same for a long time. You have to like it.
