Spring Flowers and Tea

Although this is rather artificial smelling on my skin with a definite powdery floor polish vibe that reminds me of a pot pourri spray polish I used to buy many moons ago it is nonetheless rather pleasant.

The opening is quite fresh with strong notes of tea and mandarin. Around the three hour mark I get lots and lots of fressia with musk and tea.

For me it remains sweet, light, and airy with a green sherberty fizz, almost jasmine like, quite visible in the opening now and again getting a second wind. Also, I am getting the occasional waft of something that is reminding me of chocolate or vanilla but so 'here in a moment; gone in a flash' that I am not quite sure what to make of it.

A very clean, spring flower perfume that I would wear in the daytime .

I got around 4 hours of fragrance at a decent level where the perfume was still noticably freesia; my skin was then left with a soft powdery musk that is still reminding me in a very gentle way of chocolate or vanilla. Not bad longevity for a little spray from a carded sample (circa 2014).

Prelude

Today I tried Jeu d'Amour, and was a bit irritated because my nose was expecting something along the lines of L'Amour.

But what is offered has its own charm.

It is like the prelude to a great love - just as it is embodied by L'Amour.
The prelude, so to speak.

It reminds me of Bach's preludes, the sparkling tones that exercise my dexterity and delight my ears and heart.
So is the fragrance.
You are enveloped by mandarin and pomegranate - along with a transparent tea note.
Clear counterpoints are set by freesia and tuberose, which pleasantly dominate the scent.
The melody fades softly into sandalwood and musk.

A beautiful, light composition that conjures the feeling of carefree infatuation.
The feet barely want to touch the ground, just like the nimble fingers on the piano keys.

Jeu lingers long after, and I flip through my notes, and open Plaisir d'Amour.

One of the most beautiful Christmas gifts

Last year, at Christmas 2016, my sister came with this little bottle and asked the group: "Does anyone want this?" My sister is strictly vegan and has something to criticize about pretty much everything. In this case, however, that was a good thing, because I received a beautiful flacon with a dreamy content. And yes, of course I wanted it :-D

So far, I hadn't had a Kenzo in my collection, but I had sniffed at one or another in Müller and mostly found light, floral scents. Jeu d'Amour fits into this group as well. Despite the fruity notes, I mainly perceive the flowers in it. Strangely enough, I first think of jasmine. Jeu d'Amour reminds me of the jasmine scent from Yves Rocher, but this one is without any disturbing note that I want to get rid of. Jeu d'Amour accompanies me throughout the day. Whether in rain or sunshine, at the office, during leisure time, or at home. This scent falls into the category of all-day wearers.

The soapy note that usually bothers me and that some have described here only comes through very close to the skin for me. The scent is pure, creamy, soft, floral.

The longevity is good. I can still perceive it lightly in the evening. It lasts on clothing until the next day.

A lovely gift! May 2017 be just as positively fragrant!

My Mother, the Goddess.

I am similar to my mother in many ways: we both are - aside from strangers and people we don't like - characterized by a playful nature that borders on the silly; we have a fondness for the beautiful things in life; we are free spirits, yet so detail-oriented that it often borders on pedantry, and for this very reason, we have an aversion to coarse simplifications that, in our eyes, verge on negligence.
Where we differ is in excess. I like a lot. My mother does not - that used to be the case. ;)

I received a sample of Kenzo's "Jeu d’Amour" with - as so often - a Douglas perfume order.
I found the scent beautiful, but not outstanding on my skin.
Since my mother can also be enthusiastic about a beautiful fragrance - just not as often as I do - I gave her the sample in the evening.
When I ran into my mother the next day, I was enchanted.
Anyone who knows the film sequence from "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer," in which the perfumer Pelissier smells Jean-Baptiste Grenouille's improved version of "Amor et Psyche" for the first time and is instantly transported to paradise for seconds, can imagine my feelings when I smelled my mother's scent - I felt as if kissed by angels (at least that's how I imagine it).

Kenzo's creation "Jeu d'Amour" is pleasantly sweet, slightly floral-fruity, and has something very pure about it, along with the calming effect of the tea it contains.
To capture this wonderful smell in an image, one should envision the following arrangement: a fragrant bouquet of freesias and tuberose, with a wooden(!) fruit bowl in front containing pomegranates and mandarins, and beside it a large glass cup with steaming rooibos tea.
In the background, the orange morning sun shines in, promising a great day.

Conclusion:
My mother is the most important person in my life, and Kenzo's "Jeu d’Amour" has given her exactly the scent that represents and even emphasizes the wonder (let's just silently agree on this term) of her entirety.
It is so beautiful that a fragrance can develop so heavenly on "its" wearer that it immediately carries something magical and provides an almost transcendent experience.
Perhaps I should conclude with a few words about the actual scent:
"Jeu d’Amour" is a wonderfully harmonious fragrance that is delicate, lightly fruity, and lovely, yet also extraordinary; very much in line with the motto:
"In tranquility lies strength."
