Women for Teens
La Rive and I will probably never be friends. There’s always something that bothers me about the scents from this brand, and I can't quite put my finger on what it is. I consider the fragrances not as dupes, but as independent scents that have a resemblance to something more high-quality.
In the shelf of my regular drugstore, I found three new fragrances from La Rive. The slender, red bottle appealed to me visually, and after a quick test, it went straight into the shopping cart along with toothpaste, soap, and shampoo. At home, I then tested the fragrance again at my leisure.
As always with this brand, the opening struck me as extremely synthetic, reminiscent of a mix of hairspray from a concrete hairstyle and alcohol. Also, as usual, it faded quickly. A bit of fruit came into play, but I couldn't distinguish exactly what it was. Definitely sweet. Shortly after, rose, jasmine, and heliotrope joined in. Together with the opening, it was nothing special. The dry down was a bit bitter and woody. Vanilla was not detectable. All in all, it was nice, inconspicuous, and tame. Not for women but rather for teens.
I can't call the fragrance successful. It's more of a neither here nor there. Too heavy for the summer months, as it has a heavy undertone, and too light for the winter months. After about two hours, the scent was simply gone for me.
There’s only a hint of similarity to Si Passione, and it stands as an independent fragrance. You can't go wrong with it, but if you don't have it, it's not tragic, as it lacks presence.
The bottle is noble and elegant and promises more than what’s inside.
