Boosting your day
I'm a fan of this fragrance. The first time I used it was in 1998, having been offered on my birthday by an ex-girlfriend.
At first I was surprised by the different and very fresh aroma. I was already regularly using Lacoste Original pour Homme (1984) and expected something similar.
It is in fact a fresh, unique aroma, as some experts in the field say - with a synthetic note.
However, I highly recommend it. It is and will always be part of my collection, not only from the nostalgic side, but also from the quality that it still maintains today.

Fresh
This is such a bizarre scent a really odd combination of notes that takes some getting used to. Has minty herbal facets, chilli, nutmeg, vetiver, grapefruit and citrus it’s all over the shop. I’m not sure if the perfumer was high when he created it. It’s discordant as hell and even reminds me a little of bug spray. The mint in it is kind of muted and spicy too and not overly cold or bright. It also has a slightly off-putting underlying savoury vegetal smell to it too and is dry and airy and with no sweetness. I know some people love this one and I applaud it’s uniqueness and daring but every time I wear it I’m left perplexed.

In Memory: Zesty Green Crocodile Freshener // In Practice: Slightly Strenuous Ethereal Green Chemical Fellow
What I had set out to do was to write something commendable and joyful about this long-forgotten, and probably also here largely overlooked, 90s Lacoste. What did I want to rant about regarding the nasty 6.4 rating above, which does not match my (somewhat milky) memory of the last scent experience, which must have been at least 15 years ago (or when was it discontinued?)

“Booster” had burned itself into my memory back in 1996 when I was just 13, during a shopping spree in Kiel. Positively, mind you.
Does anyone still remember how it was advertised back then? It was summer, and in front of Douglas stood a giant plastic “Booster” bottle about 1.50 m tall, with a spray head the size of a faucet (see bottle), and with two to three presses, your entire hand would practically swim in it.

At that time, I thought: Perfect aroma representation of a crocodile - zesty, energetic, wiry, very green.

Now, thanks to Abraxas13, I hold a decant in my hands and realize: The memory as such was quite precise, however, the assessment of the quality is somewhat altered.

Vividly zesty at the start - a lot of citrus power, which, with the help of mint and eucalyptus, truly blows through the olfactory bulb. Good-morning-get-up!-energy, so to speak.

Both ethereal notes are predictably fleeting, completely gone after 10 minutes. In the process, “Booster” becomes greener, with basil playing a significant role. Somehow, there is also indeed a slight chili note, not sharp, but certainly paprika-like.

So green, while the interplay of the notes undoubtedly gives Lacoste an extremely high recognition value (compared to the many interchangeable Baldessarini, Boss, and Lacoste fragrances today), it is simultaneously marked by a somewhat chemical composition that allows for associations with household cleaning products.

Nutmeg then shoots in a bit sideways, not my favorite in perfumes, adding a slight bitter-spicy touch.
After an hour, “Booster” settles into a lightly woody-green-nutmeg spectrum, with a hint of chemical (cleaner) always lingering.

Well, thus the myths of youth are relativized...

Opens up your nose!
When you stand in a medium-sized perfumery in Paris (right in front of your hotel!), you are first overwhelmed. Even though there wasn't really a niche selection and the assortment is mostly identical to that of Germany's larger chains, there were certainly 20-30 men's perfumes that you don't see in our stores/not yet/not anymore/hardly see at all. And since you can't stay in the city forever, perfumes are not the main reason for being there, and there are a few other perfumeries (Guerlain Boutique!?) to check out, you have to choose carefully. My choice on the first day, alongside the EdP of The One (a must-try that was worth it!), fell on Lacoste's unknown Booster. Certainly a controversial choice and not a candidate for purchase for me here, especially not with competitors like Caron's Pour Un Homme Sport or Habit Rouge Dress Code, but just because of its amusing appearance, the fact that I had never seen it live before & maybe will never see it again, it made it to the shortlist. I didn't even know that there was no comment on this rarity due to lack of Wi-Fi, but in hindsight, it only supports my decision. The rest will be tested or directly purchased in the coming days.

Finally, to the scent: you can find it disgusting, or you can find it brilliant. As if you crossed the classic Lacoste Original with a sharp chili. Lacoste Le Gout de Parfum, so to speak. Strong mint, green vetiver & ice-cold lemon are well-known and familiar from the brand with the crocodile. Meaty chili, bright green basil, & palpable cedar wood are less so. And everything combined is fresh & sharp, fish & meat, hot & cold at the same time. I say, above all: bold! Number one in the fragrance hierarchy remains a bitter-green mint, and all fans of the original who are open to different directions should definitely give this rarity a try. Disgust is not excluded!

Bottle: a bit reminiscent of a cleaning spray, but that's currently in vogue
Sillage: the flashes that the contrasts in the scent throw do not spread too far.
Longevity: a reasonable 5 hours.

Conclusion: definitely wakes you up! But I can understand the hatred & nausea that some people feel; however, I find the scent bold & very unique. Classy!

I bought this fragrance in France when I was 15 years old and we were on vacation at the Cote D'Azure. I really liked the scent back then.
I can definitely confirm the grapefruit note. Perhaps also a certain, subtle spiciness.
In my opinion, the fragrance is uplifting, is also original (I don't know of any other scent with a similar note), and maybe not entirely subtle. (The bottle also stands out with its funny "Rüssel.") Of course, I am influenced by my own experiences, but back then, the fragrance was great for a 15-year-old. I think it suited the warm spring and summer very well. Today (at the age of 30), I might find it a bit too unmasculine or too vague.
I would describe the sillage of the perfume I bought back then as very good, and the longevity was also very good.
Overall, the quality seemed good to me. Honestly, I hope that this is still the case in today's editions, and I am glad that the fragrance is still available.

Regardless of personal tastes, this deserves a praise for being fresh/woody and avoiding every cliché of the genre - even longevity-wise.

Strange and brilliant. To me, it feels relaxing, like a freshly mowed meadow. More of a (beautiful) scent than a perfume fragrance.

Beautiful, minty freshness and a relaxed, long-lasting finish. Wonderful. Truly anti-mainstream. Cult.
