Hey you snot-noses! No wait, I meant you sniffing noses :D
How are you doing? Have you already evaporated or are you still sweating? Yes, yes, the weather has once again become extremely hot, and this is just the beginning, as temperatures above 32 to torturous 36-37 degrees are yet to come, not to mention hellish heatwaves with 40 degrees and more. But apparently, we now have a few days to catch our breath, as the weather has become more bearable again (thunderstorms aside).
* sigh *
I really don’t like summer when it gets this extreme. Yes, yes, it’s not just because I’m single and we singles are known to suffer even more in summer (and that despite the lightly dressed ladies with endless legs,… uh you know what I mean :DD), but also because of the heat, especially on rainy days when it becomes unbearably humid and you stick to a leather couch more than if you were covered in super glue... Seriously, how can anyone like summer?? Well, if I had a girlfriend (with endless legs :D), I might think a little differently, but I’d probably still complain about the heat, I think… heeeeeeeat!!!! :DD
But alright. What belongs in summer in terms of perfume? Hmm… since it seems that quite a few people are listening to me here, I could, as a single, turn into a movie villain and claim that at 35 degrees heat, one should wear heavy oud fragrances, especially with ylang-ylang, coriander, and opulent tuberoses!! Mu ha ha ha, suffer with me!!! :D
But you’re lucky that despite all the complaining, I’m still somewhat nice and therefore present you with a true summer fragrance, namely “Figues & Agrumes” by Lancôme, which sounds quite refreshing with notes like fig and citrus sorbet! So let’s see how it is!
The Fragrance:
Oh, the beginning is great. Light, airy, citrusy-green, and thus refreshing. Before I perceive the figs, the citrus reminds me of the refreshing effect of Concentré d‘Orange Verte by Hermès, only a bit milder and sweeter. And I also think that here, citrus doesn’t just mean lemons, but rather oranges, because the scent really smells like (bitter) oranges. When the citrus calms down a bit (but is still very noticeable), you can better perceive the fig, along with floral-sweet jasmine.
In the heart, the fig becomes significantly more intense and then becomes the main scent note, as the citrus notes recede a bit into the background. There’s still sweet jasmine, although the sweetness of the fragrance is rather low, yet in my opinion, it is perfectly dosed to simply smell very pleasant.
In the base, however, not much changes, except that the projection of the fragrance becomes a bit lower, so that the scent gradually fades after a few hours and is just waiting to be reapplied, which you should definitely do, as especially the top note smells really delicious and zesty!
The Sillage and Longevity:
Summer fragrance = low sillage. This equation does apply here, but generally speaking, the sillage of this fragrance seems to be a bit higher than that of most summer fragrances, which is great, but overall, it’s still a weak scent :D I found the longevity of about 5-6 hours to be quite good for a summer fragrance.
The Bottle:
Ah, the bottles of these Lancôme fragrances are, in my opinion, among the most beautiful bottles ever. It is first of all a rectangular bottle with rounded edges. But the two gilded plaques make the bottle simply look wonderful. There’s the lovely plaque with the delicately appearing cutouts that create a beautiful illustration of a fig fruit including leaves. Since this golden plaque is only visible on the front, it appears greenish from the other side due to the green fragrance liquid, which is also very nice to look at. The next plaque has been placed on one of the side edges, where the name of the fragrance can be seen. The cap is appropriately gilded as well, so everything harmonizes well together and simply looks great.
Conclusion:
Wow, what a beautiful fragrance! I really like figs and here they come with citrus notes, which I particularly appreciate in summer! The interplay of these fruity scents is delightful, as the fragrance refreshes especially in the top note, but also remains light on the skin throughout the rest of the fragrance journey, making it a scent that can be worn well on really hot days to smell good even on those exhausting days.
So if you’re melting away in the heat, then use fragrances like this one here.
If the heat is unbearable, but you still want to smell good, then use fragrances like this one here.
If you’re sweating endlessly and longing for a sparkling refreshment, then strip down… no wait, I meant to write again: then use fragrances like this one here… he he, hey have mercy, it’s too hot, and I can never think clearly when the sun is frying me or I only see endless legs everywhere… *sigh* :DD
So, this fragrance is usable… come on, you’ve probably already guessed it, in summer! :D
I would then use it for all sorts of occasions, although you might need to reapply it occasionally when going out, as it does lose strength noticeably after just a few hours (at least in terms of projection, the longevity is surprisingly good!).
In any case, Figues & Agrumes is a recommendable fragrance that, unfortunately, seems a bit overpriced, but smells very good. If you’re looking for a comparable scent that is significantly cheaper, I recommend checking out “Fico di Amalfi” by Acqua di Parma, which is one of my personal favorites in summer.
That’s it again. Have a pleasant evening and see you then :)
