Addictive scent for fragrance addiction - and unfortunately not just one!
Actually, I didn't want to test the scent at all because I was put off by the word Dragées and immediately thought of sticky, sugary, overly sweet. However, since I absolutely adore Jasmins Marzipane from the same line and do not perceive it as sweet contrary to the description - and the same fragrance fairy who recommended Jasmins Marzipane to me also made a recommendation for "Iris Dragées," I felt I had to submit to my fate and test it. The scent is not easy to describe. Similar to Jasmins Marzipane, I only perceive one thing here: Iris, Iris, and once again Iris. But it's like an Iris in different layers and veils: A woody-herb-dry, intensely concentrated, almost harsh Iris, delicate Iris powder on top, and beside it, a juicy fresh Iris (similar to that in Prada's Infusion). It comes and goes somehow and overlaps each other. Sometimes one is more noticeable, then the other. And yes, the scent is sweet, but somehow also not. Not candy-sticky sweet, but rather a roasted almond sweetness, with a delicate bitterness resonating. Speaking of almonds: What I don't smell in Jasmins Marzipane, I find here: almond powder scent that reminds me of L’Instant Magic by Guerlain.
This "Maison Lancome" line is a real discovery for me. Jasmins Marzipane was irresistibly appealing at first sight, Oranges Bigarades just as much - here I'm just waiting for a special offer or for the travel flacons - and Iris Dragées is quickly making its way onto my wish list.
The series represents truly good high-quality perfumery art for me: Noble, straightforward, high-quality, always wearable, and elegant. And this also applies to Iris Dragées, although I can't completely dismiss the association with unicorn glitter dust!
