Children of the night, let's pick some roses..
The black sheep of the 'Absolue les parfums' line in terms of bottle design does not wrap itself in cheerful candy colors like its siblings; no, smoky gray already spoils the surprise that we are likely not dealing with a fresh and cheerful rose scent here.
'From the dark' - how fitting, as I am currently sitting in my completely darkened room against the heat. Temperature-wise, perhaps not the most optimal conditions, but let's see.. With Buffy and her demons, this is no little rose! This is the seller in the restaurant with two arms full of "Wolluuu kaufe' Rose?"!
Rose! Lots of rose! Dark, thick, opulent rose! Piled high on the dark wooden table. In the background, an incense stick is smoldering somewhere. Aromatically dense, warm and spicy. Come get me, Lucifer, there's no frankincense or anything like that in here? Well, at least not listed, which means nothing...
Compared to the relatively recently released "Taif Rose | Jo Malone," the Lancome is completely (!) unsweetened, but has the same rose opulence. And the Lancome roses are prettier/more realistic.
I am usually not a huge fan of heavy or oriental-leaning rose fragrances and would therefore wear this rose only for going out/evenings or in the darker season. The scent also works in warmth/in summer - but please not in combination with high humidity, rather in dry heat! And perhaps more after sunset, nomen est omen!
Tremor-finger sprayers need to be careful; less is more. Here, just one spray was enough for complete room fragrance, more and it threatens to become a sweet death 'in the name of the rose' in enclosed spaces. The child of the night lasts at least from Dusk till Dawn, although after 2 hours, almost only woody amber remains (or I can no longer smell the roses, which I do not want to rule out).
