Hello, I'm finally back with a new fragrance review here, and today it's about "Trésor La Nuit Vanille Noire" by Lancôme. The La Nuit line is a fragrance series that was highly recommended to me by a perfumer, well, actually she practically nagged and screamed at me to finally describe this fragrance line here :D
The perfumer in question will surely feel addressed if she is still around, as the Trésor La Nuit scents usually attract her like light attracts moths. So she might just flutter in here too :D
But I have to admit that these fragrances are really great. You can like Trésor or not, but the La Nuit scents from the Trésor line are truly fabulous, elegant, and also very sexy fragrances, somewhat similar to the Alien scents. … Wait, don’t run away just because I mentioned Alien, you idiots!!! … Hmpf… maybe I should insult you in a more perfumery way? You… uh… flacons? No, you would probably like that too, since you totally love everything related to fragrances, so you probably claim the following about yourselves:
“Hi hi, I’m a little scent!”
“I’m a vanilla!”
“I’m a beautiful flacon”
“I’m a… Berliner?!”… :DDD
But okay, back to Trésor or La Nuit. Well, you don’t test a fragrance from it for a while, and suddenly you don’t know anything about all the new fragrances you find on the shelf. Phew, I’ve really been out of the fragrance loop longer than I thought, who knows how many fragrances or flankers from good fragrance lines I’ve missed or haven’t described yet. A little longer and I surely wouldn’t have known the difference between EDT and EDP anymore :D
But today I’m here, after all :)
The Fragrance:
The fragrance seems to have the DNA of the previous Trésor La Nuit scents and starts off sweetly accordingly. Although not specified, I have the feeling I smell fruity berries in the top note, but that could just be my impression. The sweetness definitely comes from the vanilla, as the honey seems to be more in the background and is hardly noticeable, because after the top note, you can’t smell any honey at all.
A little later, the fragrance becomes slightly spicier, while the sweetness still prevails, after all, the vanilla is quite strong, but in a pleasant way, so it doesn’t feel overwhelming. The fruitiness from the beginning could also be rose, I’m not sure, as the vanilla covers many notes, so I’m not entirely certain about some of the fragrance notes here.
Finally, a little later, you can smell the increasingly stronger oud. This is somehow new for this line (at least for me, as I haven’t tried any La Nuits in 2-3 years and only remember these fragrances as purely sweet). Although I’m not an oud fan, I think that even those who don’t like oud can still enjoy the fragrance, because the other fragrance notes are still radiating and thus create a good overall package, and secondly, the oud gains strength slowly and only becomes really strong in the late base. The specified leather notes aren’t particularly strong, but you can still perceive them clearly up close, and I find that especially leather and oud have become a good combination here.
In the base, the vanilla is the strongest fragrance note until it loses some strength after a few hours, making the oud appear more intense as the second strongest fragrance note.
This is also my only criticism, as the intense oud then personally bothered me a bit. The fragrance is still good, and those who like oud might find this scent really appealing.
The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is strong, so you can definitely smell the fragrance well from someone for a while. The longevity is also extremely good, lasting 8-10 hours and even longer. By the way, you can smell the fragrance intensely on clothing for days!
The Flacon:
The flacon is characteristically (upside-down) pyramid-shaped with a glowing, reddish fragrance liquid. I wouldn’t spray the fragrance on white clothing, by the way. I didn’t notice anything on my skin, but on a white test strip, I clearly saw a slight pink discoloration.
In any case, you can still see a black bow on the neck of the flacon, which is a very nice detail and significantly enhances the flacon. All in all, the flacon is very beautiful, though it might be a bit of an adjustment in handling.
Conclusion:
So, I think this Trésor can also convince, although it’s not suitable for those who don’t particularly like sweet fragrances, as it initially has a fairly high “sugar content” despite the oud and leather. However, I must say (incredible that I’m saying this now!) that the La Nuits come across as a bit more elegant than the Alien scents and could therefore be tested by everyone who usually doesn’t like sweet fragrances. Especially this flanker comes across as more mature with its oud note, which might also be a reason to test it. Especially since this fragrance note is quite noticeable and intense later on.
The fragrance is very suitable for going out or for the evening in general and has become a pure autumn and winter scent for me, as it really smells sweet (and later spicy-oudy) with a very high projection and could quickly become overwhelming on warm days.
The perfumer who showed and recommended this fragrance line to me can also breathe a sigh of relief that I’ve rated the fragrance well here, but at some point, I’ll find a flanker that’s terrible he he, because that happens with almost all fragrance lines :D
If I had to list all the La Nuit fragrances in a ranking, then this fragrance would have landed in the lower ranks for me :D
Anyway, I’m done with my comment, thank you for reading and have a nice evening. Hopefully, we’ll “see” each other again soon :)
