When fig trees weep
We were standing in front of an old gate, surrounded by green foliage. The evening wind played in it, making the leaves dance, while the last rays of sunlight broke through the vines in a golden hue. I put my hand on the warm wooden gate and slowly pushed it open. There before us was a garden - a sea of blooming roses. But my gaze lingered on a single flower: the Centifolia, which shone in deep purple. People called it the Forbidden Rose.
But there was a legend surrounding it: a mighty fig tree was enthroned above it, deeply rooted in the earth. It loved this rose so much that night after night it bent its crown towards it as if to touch its velvety cheeks. But its roots held it fast. He could never reach her. And so, in the dark, he wept golden tears of love, nourished from his innermost being, sweet as fig jam. But the rose opened and received the tears in its cup. It transformed and gave him a fragrance as sweet as an invisible kiss that touched his wooden heart.
Perhaps that sounds like too much of a fairy tale. The fig tree itself would probably have just rolled its eyes. But this is exactly where the magic of Forbidden Rose lies for me. This fragrance has created a whole legend in my mind's eye and not every fragrance can do that.
As a lover of sweet fragrances, the scent notes sound very tempting to me: juicy fig, sweet jam, lush rose and a warm musky base. However, the opening seems a little confused at first, as if the fig is wavering between tart freshness and fruity sweetness. But it quickly opts for the sweet path. I would have done the same. From then on, it literally ripens before my eyes. Unripe fruits become plump, juicy beauties that finally burst open and pour their jammy sweetness into the blossoms. The rose radiates powerfully, surrounded by an aura that changes from fresh green to deep dark red. At the end, it sheds its velvety petals, which fall softly onto a warm musky bed.
Sensual, seductive, almost like an image of the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. It is no coincidence that Adam and Eve reached for fig leaves. Forbidden Rose is officially a unisex fragrance. However, I suspect that Adam would have been rather reserved with all the sweetness. However, if he had smelled it on Eve, he would certainly not have been able to resist her.
